HP – Shadow Monarch!

Chapter 84 – Talking to Salazar 01.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"Let me start, boy," Snape heard Salazar and nodded in agreement.

"First..." The portrait looked at Snape, studying him for a while, as he walked over to an ancient chair, before continuing to look at the books in Salazar's collection. The man immediately grew a chicken foot on his forehead with a bit of anger before sighing, after all, what could he do? Being just a memory left by Salazar.

"How did you get in here... You don't seem to know the language of snakes, parseltongue, which should be in my lineage... how did you do it, since you don't have my blood?" Salazar murmured before asking.

Snape stopped reading, his gaze shifting to him. "The same way I opened the door to this room," Snape replied calmly, causing Salazar to look dissatisfied.

"How did you do that then?" Salazar asked again, wanting to know how he had broken the protective spells.

Snape just smiled at this. "That's a different question from what we had agreed... Now it's my turn to ask," Snape said, enjoying the man who was trying to belittle him earlier, while Salazar just looked at him frustrated.

"What is this place?" Snape asked curiously, his first question.

"It's a secret place I made during the construction of Hogwarts along with my companions and those you consider the founders of the Hogwarts houses. We all mastered ancient magic, I don't know if you know it," he said.

"I read about it in the forbidden section, they say it takes a century for a wizard with this magic. I was interested at the time, but I do not possess such power," Snape was forced to comment, still remembering how he was surprised by this type of magic.

"Yes... it's quite rare and manifests in late times, anyway. During the construction, I took the opportunity to make this Chamber of Secrets and keep my things, while spending some time when I was not teaching the first students of this institution, at the end of my life, I decided to leave this place for someone good enough to take up my legacy, just as it happens with the sword of Gryffindor," he said.

"I see. You mentioned that one person came before... who was this person?" Snape asked a bit curious.

"You have already asked a question," Salazar returned, with a severe look.

"Fair. Ask your question then," Snape said.

Salazar nodded. "What magic did you use? It should be impossible, especially with the magic that dwells in you. Although, for your age, you are certainly a monster and already comparable to an adult wizard... still, it's nothing so extraordinary," he asked. Even though he was a portrait, he had magical properties left by his creator, able to sense things like magic and other things no one else could, after all, he wanted to find the ideal person for his chamber and speaking parseltongue was just the initial task to open and pass through Sara, the Basilisk.

"Your barriers are good against magic, and in a way, I couldn't get through that. However, you wizards don't make protection against physical force. So, as I said before, I used my physical strength with my fists, even if you don't believe me," Snape spoke calmly, while the portrait watched him with a suspicious look.

"What do you mean physical force? In my time, the strength of any person, magical or not, could come close to such a thing. Are you really saying that you broke a magical door with just brute force?" Salazar asked, incredulously.

"I am, whether you believe it or not," Snape retorted.

"If it's true, how did you acquire such strength?" Salazar asked immediately.

"It's my turn to ask," Snape replied. "Why have you kept a basilisk here for the last thousand years?"

Salazar seemed emotionally affected by the question. "My Sara... I brought her from the southern regions of Africa when she was just small, then she grew up with me. I kept her here to protect this place. I just never imagined that one day, she would be killed by a Muggle-born," he said with a bit of anger and sadness about his companion when he was alive, eventually dying.

"So, you didn't intend to create a weapon to kill Muggle-borns in the school?" Snape insisted on the question.

"Of course not, don't get me wrong, I despise Muggles, and I wish they would stay far away from me, I've never had a friend in my social circle like that, but don't misunderstand, I'm not in favor of killing them, although initially I wanted only pure-blood students at the school, my companions insisted on this and we opened the school to everyone, since I recognize that Muggles also have their own role," Salazar spoke sincerely.

"At least he's not like those lunatics who are causing a war in England right now, or even the Slytherin students who thought a bit differently..." Snape murmured softly and turned back to the portrait. "Still, your snake killed a Muggle-born girl in the bathroom, she became dangerous," Snape said.

Salazar sighed. "She was controlled by the person who came here over 30 years ago as you said..." He said.

"I see..." Snape said, waiting for the next question to be directed his way.

"Tell me, what are you? Are you human to have such strength?" Salazar asked Snape.

"Yes, you shouldn't have that kind of doubt," Snape said, and was prevented from continuing to speak.

"I see... still, I want to see this strength of yours, after all I still don't believe you. Can you show it to me on these magical walls??" Salazar asked.

Snape nodded, as he closed the book and stood up from the chair. He went to one of the walls and simply punched it directly, as lines emerged starting from his fist and spread throughout the place like a spider web, immediately cracking the wall with the force of his punch.

"I think that's sufficient..." Snape said, turning around after the explosion. Even the memory of Salazar couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that.

"Well, that really is surprising," Salazar murmured seeing something surprising after a thousand years.

"Tell me more about who else came here," Snape now requested as he returned to Salazar's chair.

"Certainly. A boy appears over 30 years ago, thought he could enter my Chamber. He came here and got close, after all, he opened the chamber with parseltongue, took control of Sara, and tried to open the door. First, he tried to seek answers from Sara, but my beautiful Sara had her memories removed a little before my original body died, since Sara had many secrets shared by me," He spoke before continuing. "I admit I was interested in the boy and as soon as I studied him, I was disappointed... for I discovered that his soul was being dismembered... It's a repugnant thing to see and I felt disgust immediately," Salazar spoke.

"His soul was being split...?" Snape asked, a bit surprised by this information, having not heard anything about it.

"Yes... usually, whoever would do this, would be trying to achieve eternal life, but only souls that are whole have the possibility to reach their maximum potential and become my successors. This boy was not aware of what he was doing and if he was, he is an idiot at his highest level!" Salazar spoke without caring to give a long answer for this.

"Now, answer," the portrait continued to speak. "You with this strength are different from people and still claim to be human... how did you achieve this?" He asked.

"I am different from people," Snape replied. "I can evolve and I don't know my limit..." He spoke looking at the symbol of the system in front of him, which never left since he woke up in this body.

"I am not just physically strong, but in magic, I am very powerful and my potential is great as you must have noticed. I might not possess the ancient magic like you, but tell me, Salazar, what does it feel like that a half-blood wizard can be more powerful than you and will eventually surpass you?" Snape said, opening a smile. "The great Salazar losing to a simple half-blood..." Snape was being insulted by him in the beginning, not that he cared much about it, but he did not miss the chance to mock the portrait as well.

"Don't be arrogant, boy! Now tell me, what do you plan to do with my things?" Salazar asked again with a severe tone, and Snape although it was his turn to ask, responded.

"Nothing much, since I intend to research a bit about your things and even see your potions... I'm also an alchemist," Snape replied, remaining calm.

Salazar was still serious. "I don't like to know that finally someone managed to get in here, when it was someone who broke down the door..." Salazar murmured, dissatisfied with this.

"These runes are quite interesting... Nothing like the simple ones I'm studying at school, but these are different from anything I've read or heard about, I'm eager to learn, can you tell me more about them?" Snape asked, interested.

"These urns were produced by a friend during my expeditions around the world. He became the greatest expert in magical artifacts in the world and helped me create a special cauldron for my potions at my peak. He also founded the Uagadou School of Magic, his name is Adebayo Mwangi (OC)," Salazar explained.

"I see. I'll research this later... Now it's your turn to ask," Snape allowed.

"I need to know something more important... knowing that you now have access to my things, what do you intend to do with this power that shouldn't be yours? I want you to be honest." Salazar wanted to know Snape's objectives, fearing that he might use this knowledge for evil purposes that could even unbalance the magical world, something he did not want. If this boy whose name he still did not know tried the worst, he had to find a way to stop him. So he listened intently to Snape's next response.

"No, don't worry. My goals are complicated, even for someone like you," Snape spoke, with a mysterious air.

"I don't know what those words mean. Answer my question!" Salazar insisted, waiting for a sincere response.

"Alright then..." Snape spoke as his eyes began to glow, surprising Salazar for a moment. "I intend to take revenge on a certain group of people. And for that, I will have to leave this world in a few years." Snape confessed, still remembering the Guardians of order with many of his comrades dying that day, while there was betrayal from their own heirs... He thought he could not last long in this world, after all, he needed to stop them before chaos began in other galaxies.

"Leave this world? What are you talking about? That sounds like madness," Salazar responded, confused by Snape's goals. Wondering about the group he was talking about. For Salazar, hearing about another world was something like sounding about being in another dimension, after all, this was the closest one could get, after all despite life, it is a part of a wizard's existence, as they believed their life would continue after this, Snape's words still confused him.

"Let me tell you something: not even you and all the people in this world have real knowledge of the universe, we are just a small planet in a galaxy among many others... Outside this planet, there are other worlds, billions of them populated with other living beings with a fauna and flora different from this planet, after all the structure, atmosphere, gravity, and stars with natural satellites change a lot from planet to planet," Snape replied calmly.

"You seem quite skeptical," Snape commented, noting Salazar's incredulity, as his eyes returned to normal and he seemed to be amused by it.

"Well, of course, I'm skeptical and I don't believe your words just like that. Although I am many things, among them, a master alchemist, powerful spell caster, I am also a philosopher and believe that we should always question things in search of the truth... but you don't seem to have anything that proves your point... so I certainly won't believe that claim, even though you speak with such confidence..." The portrait responded not believing in the young man.

"I think you're right..." Snape said, unoffended by the skepticism, before speaking again. "Anyway, it's my turn to ask a question," he said. "Tell me, this time, how to create a blade like the one Godric Gryffindor created? You said you helped him, how did he create this sword!" He spoke, as he released the sword from the inventory again, appearing in front of him and the portrait while the blade shone with the reflection of the flames in the torches.
