Chapter 360: Chapter 361: Utaha’s Resentment
"I'm back, everyone."
Alexander entered his villa with visible excitement. The girls greeted him with polite smiles but quickly returned to their own tasks, barely acknowledging his arrival. This behavior struck Alexander as odd.
"What's wrong? Aren't you happy to see me? Besides, I've brought a new friend," he said, gesturing toward Erica behind him. However, the mention of Erica only made Tohru, standing nearby, even more displeased.
"A 'new friend'? Hah! More like another addition to your harem," Tohru grumbled, her gaze filled with resentment. "Seriously, Alexander, can't you prioritize me for once?"
Tohru had been with Alexander since early on, but despite her devotion, even Esdeath—who joined later—seemed to have made more progress in their relationship.
"Why haven't things between us moved forward?" Tohru muttered to herself. Determined, she resolved to take matters into her own hands. "Maybe a night attack will change things," she thought, a sly grin forming on her face. She remembered the accessories she had ordered online. "They should've arrived by now. I wonder if they'll work. I'll test them tonight," she thought, her expression turning 'evil'.
Alexander, noticing Tohru's demeanor, sighed inwardly. "What is happening in this world? Even Tohru is behaving oddly now!"
Turning his attention away, he picked up little Kanna. "Kanna-chan, come here. Tell me something interesting that happened to you recently," he said, settling on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Erica, guided by Athena, explored the villa in search of her room. Athena also introduced Erica to the household members. Learning there were two dragons, a goddess, a heroic spirit, a machine-like individual, and two massive monsters in the backyard, Erica finally realized how sheltered her past life had been.
Among them all, only Utaha and Setsuna in the creative room were ordinary humans. The rest had the power to easily destroy a city, making Erica the weakest in the house. This realization fueled her determination to grow stronger.
"I must work harder," she resolved. "If I want to be Alexander's knight, I can't afford to remain this way."
For now, however, Erica decided to establish good relationships with everyone. She noted how all the girls looked at Alexander with the same affection she felt. "Even though Alexander only claims two official girlfriends, the atmosphere here tells a different story," Erica mused.
In the creative room, Utaha paused her writing, her gaze fixed thoughtfully on Alexander.
"Utaha, what's on your mind?" Setsuna asked curiously.
As a novelist and an illustrator, Utaha and Setsuna worked closely together and had formed a solid friendship. Utaha appreciated that Setsuna didn't seem to harbor feelings for Alexander—something rare in this household.
Though Utaha had come to accept that Alexander's extraordinary nature made him incomparable to ordinary men, having one less rival brought her a measure of relief. "If only there weren't so many competitors," she thought with a faint sigh.
"By the way, there's a comic exhibition event tomorrow. Let's go together," Utaha suggested to Setsuna, sitting across from her.
While Utaha wasn't particularly enthusiastic about attending events like comic exhibitions, tomorrow marked the release of the new volume of Love Metronome. As its author, her presence was required. Thanks to Alexander's anime adaptation, her work had gained significant popularity, and Utaha herself had become a minor celebrity.
Although the hype had waned somewhat following the conclusion of the anime's first season, her status as a public figure remained intact.
Hearing Utaha's invitation, Setsuna nodded in agreement. "Sure, I'll go with you. By the way, Altair, would you like to come along too?" she asked, holding Altair's hand.
Altair gave a small nod. "Alright. This world is so chaotic, I'll protect you."
Altair often thought of herself as a guardian or "mother" to Setsuna, always worrying about her safety. With so many unpredictable dangers lurking, especially from those willing to go to any lengths to achieve their goals, Altair felt responsible for ensuring Setsuna's well-being.
Noticing this exchange,Utaha turned her gaze toward Alexander, her eyes filled with a quiet resentment that sent shivers down his spine.
Feeling the weight of her stare, Alexander sighed and shrugged. "Alright, alright. Can I go with you tomorrow too?"
