Hunter: I Became Stronger After Death

Chapter 6: Opening the Nen

Human trafficking, organ trading.

These phenomena were not uncommon in the world of Hunter x Hunter.

On top of that, there were specialized networks and information exchange platforms that catered to buyers and sellers.

Countless twisted desires of buyers could be fulfilled on these platforms.

If nothing unexpected happened, Moro and the others would be treated like livestock to be selected at will.

The unlucky ones would have their organs harvested directly or be turned into grotesque statues and ornaments.

The luckier ones might end up as a buyer's captive plaything, enduring physical abuse but at least staying alive.

Moro sat cross-legged, recalling what was about to happen.

This truck would arrive at a psychiatric hospital in a few hours.

As for the exact time, Moro couldn't be certain—he only knew it would take at least two hours.

Once the truck arrived at its destination, it would be attacked during the "unloading" process.

At that time, most of the other captives in the cages with him had died in the assault.

Moro had survived partly due to luck—he had avoided the first wave of explosions during the attack.

The other reason was Morena's timely appearance. Disguised as a buyer, she had helped the psychiatric hospital repel the attackers at a critical moment.

If not for Morena, Moro might have become the fastest-dead "isekai" traveler in history.

Now, facing the same crisis again, Moro felt as if he were standing at a crossroads, forced to make a choice.

Should he follow the original timeline and let Morena spend money to buy him, or try to escape while the truck was still en route?

Moro's eyes flickered with uncertainty as thoughts of Chrollo and his team crossed his mind, along with memories of Dog Brother, who had left his shop not long ago, and Morena's eyes, which seemed like endless abysses.

But soon, Moro collected his thoughts and made a decision.

He now understood this world better and had mastered the common language.

At this stage, there was no need to rely on Morena's acceptance to get by.

Thus, there was no way he would let things play out the same way as before.

This time, Moro was determined not to cross paths with Morena again.

"I need to open my aura nodes within two hours. If possible, I should also adjust my body to properly utilize the techniques for 'Fraudulent Shooting Star.'"

Moro raised his eyes to the rusty iron bars standing upright before him.

Since he had decided to escape while the truck was still in motion, opening his aura nodes was a necessary prerequisite.

Normally, without guidance from an experienced nen user, even possessing knowledge about nen wouldn't allow someone to open their nodes independently through practice.

Even if someone managed to open their nodes in a short time, mastering the techniques that followed was another hurdle entirely.

Ten, Ren, Zetsu, and Hatsu—

These foundational nen techniques, known as the Four Major Principles, typically required extensive time and effort for mastery.

The idea of casually opening one's nodes and becoming proficient in nen techniques within a short span was nearly impossible in reality.

Nen itself was an extraordinarily complex power.

From learning about it to making contact, mastering its use, optimizing it, and eventually attaining proficiency or perfection—all stages demanded immense dedication and effort.

Characters like Gon, Killua, and the Kakin princes in the original series?

In reality, there weren't nearly so many genius anomalies.

But now—

Moro would become one of them.

Closing his eyes, Moro instinctively entered a meditative state, allowing his consciousness to settle as he sought to sense the latent aura within his body.

His six months of prior experience became invaluable in this moment.

In just a few seconds, Moro effortlessly sensed his latent aura and began guiding it to open his aura nodes.

The process went smoothly.

Under Moro's precise control, the latent aura within him flowed like a stream, reaching every aura node in his body.

It was as natural and simple as eating or drinking…

One by one, his aura nodes were opened, and the aura within him surged like rushing water, ebbing and flowing throughout his body.

"Excellent."

Moro opened his eyes and looked down at his hands, which were glowing faintly white with aura.

The aura pouring from his body was wild and untamed, like a horse broken free from its reins, rushing out uncontrollably.

In his current physical state, if Moro didn't suppress this outflow, he would collapse from exhaustion within ten minutes.

But this was a minor issue.

With a single thought, Moro smoothly utilized the Ten technique, enveloping his body in aura to suppress its excessive consumption.

Even easier than I expected…

The ease with which Moro opened his nodes and performed the foundational techniques stabilized his emotions even further.

Successfully opening his aura nodes meant that he now wielded a weapon that represented agency and control.

What he needed to do next was wait for the right moment to create a commotion, forcing the driver to stop the truck.

Moro reached out and gripped the rusty iron bars in his hands.

Inside the truck cab.

The driver, a slovenly middle-aged man, kept his focus on the rough mountain road ahead, his expression one of intense concentration.

In the passenger seat was a buzz-cut young man with a lazy demeanor, slouched deep into his seat as if trying to merge with the chair.

But a closer look at the buzz-cut man's eyes would reveal they never stayed in one place for long, constantly darting between the rearview mirror and several monitoring screens.

Remaining vigilant and observant seemed to be his primary responsibility.

"Huh?"

The buzz-cut man's gaze paused on a screen hanging at an angle from the truck ceiling, and he let out a surprised noise.

Hearing the sound, the middle-aged driver asked reflexively, "What's wrong?"

"..."

The buzz-cut man didn't respond immediately, his eyes glued to the monitor.

The live footage showed Moro's figure.

"No way…!"

Through the screen's real-time feed, the buzz-cut man watched as Moro opened his aura nodes within seconds and immediately began using the Ten technique.

His eyes widened in disbelief. The laziness vanished from his demeanor, replaced by shock and incomprehension.

Opening one's aura nodes autonomously in mere seconds was already beyond his understanding. But mastering the Ten technique immediately afterward? That was unthinkable.

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, the buzz-cut man wouldn't have believed it possible.

As for the possibility that Moro had been hiding his abilities?

Impossible.

This batch of captives had been personally handled by him—he knew everything about them.

The disheveled middle-aged driver glanced at the buzz-cut man's reaction and frowned. "Zazan, what's going on?"

"Stop the truck!"

Zazan suppressed his inner turmoil and ordered firmly, without explanation.

Trusting Zazan's capabilities, the driver hesitated only briefly before stepping on the brakes.

Zazan rummaged through the glove compartment, pulled out a pistol, and tossed it to the driver. Without waiting for a reaction, he opened the door and jumped out, heading toward the truck's cargo area.

The driver gripped the pistol, silently disengaged the safety, and followed from the opposite side, moving cautiously toward the rear of the truck.

Inside the cargo area.

Moro noticed the sudden halt of the truck and used the opportunity to bend the rusty iron bars with his hands.

Creak, groan—

The sound of the bars twisting drew the attention of the other captives.

They turned to look, their minds momentarily frozen in disbelief at what they saw.
