Chapter 6: The Exam Begins

The air hung heavy with anticipation. Noah stood on the dock, the salty tang of the sea swirling around him, the creaking of the ship's timbers echoing in his ears.

Five days of intense training, five days of pushing his limits, five days of mastering his new power.

He had come a long way since he had washed ashore on Whale Island. He had become a fishmonger, a respected member of the community, a man of destiny. He'd even made a little fortune.

But this was his true purpose, his true path. He was a hunter now. He was ready.

He looked back, seeing the familiar figure of Wilson, the old man who had taken him in, who had given him a second chance, a home away from home. Wilson's face was etched with worry.

"I'm worried, Noah," Wilson said, his voice a gravelly rumble. "The Hunter Exam... it's dangerous. Many people die in that exam. It's not for the faint of heart."

Noah smiled, his gaze steady. "Don't worry, Wilson. I'm ready."

"I just… I can't help but worry," Wilson said, his voice laced with concern. "You're still young. You've got so much ahead of you."

Noah laid a hand on Wilson's shoulder, his touch firm and reassuring. "I'll be fine, Wilson. I have a plan. And I'm not going to let anyone stop me."

Wilson sighed, a small smile gracing his lips. "Alright, Noah. I trust you."

Noah nodded, his heart heavy with gratitude. He turned and walked toward the ship, the creaking of the timbers a steady rhythm that guided his steps.

The ship was packed, a sea of faces, a mixture of excitement, trepidation, and anticipation. He boarded the ship, the air thick with the smell of salt and the scent of adventure.

The ship's horn blared, a mournful wail that announced its departure. Noah made his way to the deck, the sun warming his face, the sea breeze whipping through his hair.

He scanned the passengers, searching for familiar faces. He recognized Leorio, the bulky doctor with a fierce determination in his eyes, and Kurapika, the stoic young man with his chain-wielding Nen.

Suddenly, a young man burst onto the ship, his black hair spiky, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of excitement and mischief.

Gon.

He saw Noah, and his face lit up with a smile. He was about to call out, but a gruff voice stopped him.

"Hey, kid! Go home! You're too young to be here! You're gonna die!" A bald man with a sharp gaze and a booming voice stood beside Gon, his arms crossed, his expression a mixture of disapproval and concern.

Gon stood his ground, his gaze unwavering. "I'm going to be a Hunter, like my dad!"

The bald man sighed, shaking his head. "You're stubborn," he said. "But I guess that's part of what makes you a Hunter. Come on, get inside. Let's go."

As the bald man led Gon inside, Gon turned to Noah, and gave him a friendly wave. "Hey!" he called. "Nice to see you!"

Noah smiled, a sense of camaraderie settling over him. "Nice to see you too, Gon."

He caught Gon's eye and nodded slightly. "Gon, since you're going to take the Hunter Exam, how about we team up?"

Gon grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "That sounds awesome! Let's do it, Noah!"

They headed inside, the ship's interior a bustling hive of activity. They found a seat, the boat beginning to rock gently as it sailed out to sea.

Suddenly, Gon pointed out the window. "Uh oh! There's a storm coming!"

The other passengers laughed, dismissing his warning. The captain, a weathered man with a weathered face, gave Gon a sharp look. He could see the storm too, the dark clouds gathering on the horizon. He started giving orders, preparing the ship for rough seas.

The storm hit with a fury, whipping the seas into a frenzy. The boat tossed and turned
