Chapter 20 - III
The mute nurse pushed Qin Yizhi to the door, looked at him, then Xie Qi moved a few steps to the side to let them in. The nurse pushed Qin Yizhi in, then walked over and waved to him.
Xie Qi also walked into the ward and stopped unconsciously when he was two meters away from Qin Yizhi.
The mute nurse stood next to Qin Yizhi and stared at him, stretching out his hands to gesture with an indescribable expression on his face. Xie Qi looked at it and vaguely understood the nurse’s gesture, asking him to help moving Qin Yizhi back to bed.
Xie Qi: “…”
He stepped forward bravely, and Qin Yizhi stretched out his hand with no expression on his face, not looking at him.
Xie Qi hesitated for a few seconds before reaching out to hold Qin Yizhi’s hand, then shook it in place.
Qin Yizhi: “…”
Finally, he raised his eyes to look at him this time, moved his lips, and spoke: “Help me.”
Due to lying down for eight months, his voice was hoarse, sounding somewhat vague, but being close, Xie Qi still heard clearly.
Xie Qi: “…”
Realizing the misunderstanding, Xie Qi’s cheeks suddenly turned red. He pursed his lips before letting go of Qin Yizhi’s hand, then stepped forward, held his arm, and joined the nurse to help him to the bed.
It was evident that Qin Yizhi’s legs still lacked strength, as they shook slightly when standing. After sitting on the bed, the nurse pushed Xie Qi aside with disgust, telling him not to get in the way. Xie Qi took a few steps back, watching from the sidelines.
The nurse set aside the quilt, took out a row of silver needles from the bag, and inserted them into Qin Yizhi’s legs.
Xie Qi watched in shock as the nurse performed acupuncture.
However, as he watched, he felt an invisible pressure hanging over him – Qin Yizhi was looking at him.
Always staring at him.
Xie Qi didn’t dare to raise his head. Only now did he realize that adults indeed possessed a certain aura, akin to the descriptions in fairy tales, a kind of coercion.
Xie Qi didn’t like this feeling and felt inexplicably uncomfortable. Maintaining a blank expression, he thought to himself that if they got married, he would have to endure the powerful scrutinizing gaze every day, a thought that was overwhelming.
Xie Qi didn’t know what Qin Yizhi thought of him. If he sought revenge, it would be too easy, given that he was just a student, making him drop out of school would be sufficient revenge.
Just as Xie Qi was maliciously speculating about Qin Yizhi, he noticed the nurse walking to the adjacent living room from the corner of his eye. He didn’t know what the nurse was doing and didn’t look up.
.
After a while, the mute nurse approached and placed a bottle of milk with a straw in front of him.
Xie Qi was momentarily stunned and looked up at him. The mute nurse offered the milk to him again, gesturing for him to take it and drink.
Xie Qi: “…”
He reached out and took it, mouthing a “Thank you.”
But in his mind, he wondered how there could be milk when the nearby living room’s refrigerator was always empty. Taking a sip, the milk was ice-cold, sending a chill down his stomach.
Xie Qi raised his eyes and glanced at the nurse, who had now returned to get a silver needle to pierce Qin Yizhi’s instep, leaving him no time to pay attention.
Drinking his milk, Xie Qi then lowered his head to look at the floor.
Feeling embarrassed as he didn’t know why he was there.
Just as he was lost in his thoughts, he caught sight of the nurse walking up to him from the corner of his eye. Xie Qi raised his eyes, noticing a hint of displeasure on the nurse’s face as he stared at him, holding a delicate bamboo basket. He put it directly into Xie Qi’s arms.
Looking down, Xie Qi saw a basket of snacks. It was filled with sweets like fruit lollipops, chocolate cakes, and other foreign delicacies, obviously high-end items.
Momentarily stunned, Xie Qi realized that the nurse must have been ordered by someone. But who?
Holding the bamboo basket, he slowly raised his head, meeting Qin Yizhi’s gaze. Until now, Qin Yizhi had been staring at him.
Xie Qi: “…”
What did he mean? Xie Qi’s mind felt confused. Was this… an act of kindness towards him?
How so? Qin Yizhi really didn’t mind all the kissing when he was in a vegetative state?
Furthermore, they didn’t know each other at all, he…
Suddenly, Xie Qi thought of something, and his heart skipped a beat. In this case, there was only one explanation: Qin Yizhi was indeed gay, and he… might have fallen in love with Xie Qi at first sight, so suddenly…?
The puzzle was solved. Xie Qi thought, this must be it.
No wonder Qin Yizhi remained silent and directly agreed to their marriage.
That was it, that was a good point.
Knowing that he wouldn’t suffer any torture, Xie Qi should be relieved but he was even more uneasy.
He was a fake gay, but Qin Yizhi was a real gay, and his backdoor’s safety probably could not be guaranteed.
Xie Qi looked around, realizing he didn’t know Qin Yizhi’s true intentions. Could be… they must do it in the hospital ward?
Xie Qi might be a fake gay, but with the internet providing extensive information, he could somewhat understand through observation and hearing. Only now did he understand the implications of his predicament.
Feeling nervous, his two well-proportioned, straight legs couldn’t help but stand tighter together.
But honestly, if he could earn so much money, why couldn’t he bear it? The 200,000 yuan per month just to chat with Qin Yizhi seemed disproportionate and not of such high value at all.
However, once another condition was added, the labor and wages seemed commensurate.
Okay, okay, Xie Qi persuaded himself in his heart. This was what he should do; he couldn’t resort to prostitution for nothing, couldn’t run away, and couldn’t pay back the money. In this melodramatic scenario, didn’t he have to face the consequences of his actions?
It was much better than selling himself to others. After all, reputation was important. After getting married, he had to fulfill his marital duties.
Well, Xie Qi reluctantly finished constructing his mental justification.
He also needed to consider his own interests. There was a saying that ‘you have to sacrifice everything to preserve your reputation.’
Okay. It was fine to be married, after all, he was devoted to one person.
Xie Qi had already finished motivating himself.
After the nurse left, he suddenly stood up, pushed the snacks aside, and walked over to Qin Yizhi. Under Qin Yizhi’s calm gaze, he closed his eyes, leaned in, and kissed him firmly on the lips. Then, he said in a dry voice, “Husband, I love you.”
Qin Yizhi: “…”
