I am a pill container in the mage world

Chapter 371: Big Demon

Moon City was not shaped like the moon. The only reason it was named Moon City was that Moondemon lived there.

Moondemon was quite famous among the demon kings; she had unique bloodline spells that allowed her to see the future to some extent. This fearsome ability granted her much prestige, especially after she 'killed' Skyfire. At that time, the entire world, including Moondemon herself, believed Skyfire had died.

Skyfire was never exceptionally skilled in one-on-one combat. While she possessed powerful spells capable of destroying cities, her damage to individuals was relatively low. However, besides her usual spells, she had a few secret spells that nobody knew about. One of these was the 'One Drop Resurrection' spell. She never paid attention to it and didn't even know she had such a survival spell, but moments before death, she suddenly thought of it and cast it.

When she was 'killed' by Moondemon, the drop of blood slowly grew and eventually regenerated her. Of course, this process came at a heavy price; she remembers years of hiding and waiting for her power to recover.

That is how she remembers it; still, there are reasons to doubt it; if Skyfire's bloodline had such a spell, it should have probably been known by the other demon kings; such a spell would most likely not go unnoticed; also, Mooddemon investigated for months and thoroughly confirmed the death of Skyfire.

After 'restoring' her full strength, Skyfire didn't seek revenge; instead, she came to Moon City peacefully for negotiations. Recently, She has been having strange dreams and ideas about the true unification of all demons; achieving those dreams is far more critical than mere 'revenge.'

Moondemon stared at the comparatively tiny Skyfire, sitting on a chair right before her.

Seeing her alive left Moondemon in shock. She immediately checked the movement of luck to find clues about the reason. At first glance, nothing seemed amiss; her luck and the luck of Moon City were tremendous and glowing. There should have been no issue.

But upon pushing further and investigating deeper, Moondemon noticed an impending disaster so horrible that it might destroy Moon City. She pushed it further and further and finally took a glimpse of something so horrific even a glimpse of it sent her into a coma for a day; she saw an endless dark about to consume everything and anything.

Moondemon usually glimpsed at the state of luck in the world. Still, she only detected these hidden disasters after she pushed her powers to her limit to find the reason for Skyfire's resurrection.

Even after catching a glimpse of the disasters, she couldn't identify the source nor find a way to prevent or escape them. Her spell used the moon to glimpse the flow of luck, fate, energy, etc., in the world. Theoretically, she shouldn't have missed a big event. But over the years, she had noticed that there were still many flaws in her legendary spells. For one, even though she could indeed glimpse the whole world through the moon, her ability to decipher is her strength limited all the details. Most of the time, she could see all the details if she looked hard and long enough, but If other demon kings were involved, she had to work much harder to decipher it.

But this time, the clues about the impending disasters were so illusory and distant that she ultimately failed to notice them. This indicated that the entities or existences causing the disasters were far stronger than even demon kings. This discovery shocked her, as she had always believed that demon kings were the strongest beings in the world, especially the entity behind the dark cloud consuming the world was far beyond her imagination.

After all this, she was in no mood to fight with Skyfire again, so she called her, sat down, and decided to hear what she had to say. Perhaps the impending disasters have something to do with Skyfire.

"Moondemon, you are quite different from before," said Skyfire.

"How so?" Moondemon asked with interest.

"You feel much less confident. In the past, you gave the impression that the world was in your palm, but now, you seem lost," said Skyfire.

"Hmm… talk of being different; the Skyfire of those days would not have sat on a chair to talk. You've changed far more than me," said Moondemon.

"That's not wrong; dying can change how one sees the world. I can see the truth now," Skyfire said with a smile.

"But you didn't die, did you?" asked Moondemon.

"Oh yeah. I absolutely died," nodded Skyfire with a calm smile, as if dying was no big deal.

"You sure don't look dead," Moondemon pointed out.

"I came back to life; I still don't know why or how," said Skyfire. Of course, she wasn't about to reveal the secret of her 'spell.' By pretending like this, she could also maintain an aura of mystery around her, killing two birds with one stone.

"Your resurrection and the hidden dangers… something big is happening in the world! Now tell me, why did you come here?" asked Moondemon. Putting the hidden disasters aside, the current issue is that she had no idea why Skyfire had come to her. Trying to decipher her actions by glimpsing at the moon would take a long time; asking her would be far easier.

"Moondemon, you are quite special among us demon kings. I am here to make a deal that other demon kings wouldn't consider," said Skyfire, keeping a slight smile on her lips.

"A deal? About what?" asked Moondemon.

"Simple… we should merge!" said Skyfire.

"Haha! What? You came all the way here to ask me to commit suicide?" Moondemon was shocked, almost laughing at Skyfire's stupidity.

Human civilization doesn't know, but all demon kings have the ultimate ability to merge and become one with other demon kings. However, there is a big catch; after the merger, a new consciousness forms, utterly separate from the two previous demon kings. Essentially, merging equals death for the demon kings who formed the new consciousness.

It's a known fact that if all demon kings merged, the primordial Big Demon would reappear one day. Unfortunately for the Big Demon, demon kings are very selfish; they have no reason to sacrifice themselves to resurrect the Big Demon one day.

If two demon kings merged, the newly merged demon would have a 200-year lifespan. If ten demon kings merged, the newly merged demon would have a 1,000-year lifespan.

The merger process is unique; it removes all conflicts among bloodlines. The reason for this phenomenon is what merging entails. For example, once Skyfire's bloodline and Moondemon's bloodline merged, the new demon wouldn't be composed of two full bloodlines; instead, the bloodlines would dissolve into each other and form an entirely new, much stronger bloodline. This is also the main reason the demon kings who merge together die—because their bloodlines would be effectively destroyed in creating a higher-grade bloodline.

Only complete bloodlines can merge, which in practice means only demon kings can merge; lower-grade demons don't have access to the merger spells and don't even know about it. The human civilization has never captured a demon king or encountered a lower demon who knew about the merger, so naturally, they have no way of knowing such a thing even exists.

"Think about it! We demon kings can live at most 100 years. I experienced death myself; I know how terrible it is! Our only chance of surviving is to merge and stitch back up the immortal demon, the big demon, the true lord! That way, we would never face death!" said Skyfire passionately, as if she couldn't wait to sacrifice herself for the big demon.

"You call that surviving? Our bloodlines would be wiped off the face of the world. That's even worse than dying of old age. It means we couldn't even be reincarnated anymore!" said Moondemon.

Most pure-blooded demons come back to life after several hundred years. They usually wouldn't have memories of their past lives, but their personality and mannerisms would be the same. Some might even recover pieces of memories and knowledge of their past lives,

Since ancient times, the number of demon kings has increased with each generation. Nowadays, there are over ten demon kings in each era, whereas a few thousand years ago, there were at most five in the same era. While ten in the whole world is still tiny, it doesn't bode well for the future of human civilization.

"I call that true invincibility! We would be matchless, immortal, and glorious!" Skyfire said excitedly.

Moondemon sighed. It seemed the resurrection had caused some mental issues for poor Skyfire.

"Maybe it was the Big Demon who resurrected her?" Moondemon started seriously considering the possibility that the legendary Big Demon had brought Skyfire back to life.

"Oh no! The hidden danger, the dark clouds devouring the world! It really is the Big Demon!" Moondemon's thoughts raced as she tried to confirm her suspicions from all the clues available.

Just as she was thinking, a loud boom rang out in the sky!
