chapter 34
34 – Sanctuary of Hybras (1)
I felt like I had been asleep for quite some time.
It felt like I was dreaming, and sometimes it felt like I wasn’t.
In my dreams, I occasionally saw Sirien. She sometimes got angry at someone, and sometimes she looked at me like she was going to cry.
As her mind, which had been submerged for a long time, rose to the surface, she realized that the scenes had not in fact been a dream.
Probably the things I saw when I woke up and fell asleep again.
When I lifted my heavy eyelids, I saw a blurry vision.
“Ugh… ….”
Her body creaked as if the spaces between her bones were rusting.
Her fists were not clenched well, and she had not yet fully regained consciousness, so it felt like she was dreaming.
It was a little hot. When I lowered the blanket that covered her up to her neck, she felt comfortable.
‘Blanket?’
A little bit of discomfort.
We have never had anything like a soft blanket like this. All we had was one blanket for multiple purposes. The floor couldn’t have been this comfortable.
Now that I think about it, the ceiling seemed unfamiliar. It felt like I was in an unfamiliar space, not just the ceiling.
I was lying on a bed in a room I had never seen before.
When I finally got up, I saw the side of the bed. Sirien was sleeping near my side.
Sirien rubbed her eyes, probably waking up from my tossing and turning.
She looked like she had just fallen asleep and was in pain when she woke up. Then, when her eyes met Sirien’s, the curtains blew in the wind outside her window.
Morning sunlight streamed into the simple room.
Under the warm sunlight. The sleepy young face opened its eyes wide.
Soon, the small, pretty lips drew an arc. Red eyes spoke with a smile.
“Are you awake? “How are you feeling?”
It was the sweetest good morning greeting I have ever heard.
* * *
To be honest, I was still confused by the changed environment.
Immediately after fighting the spider, I opened my eyes and it felt like the world had changed.
But I was able to guess.
It probably went according to the original story.
The place I fought my best to reach was ultimately the same as the place Razen reached in the original work.
Sirien was just like that. What she thought was her best ended up being here.
I don’t know what the process was, but in the end, Sirien would have become a saint of Hybras here.
She will one day become a saint of God who will be called an evil spirit.
To be honest, the reason Hybras was labeled as an evil god was not simply due to slander.
Of course, there was no separate evil spirit. This is because each god has both beneficial and harmful aspects to humans.
Accordingly, evil spirits were nothing more than what several mainstream denominations declared. However, there was a plausible basis for Hybras being called an evil god.
“Are you hungry? Let’s eat first. “I was hungry too.”
Sirien said she would call someone, and she went out for a while. Immediately after returning, she saw a person dressed in black come in, give her breakfast, and leave.
Rather than being particularly luxurious, it was more like mourning clothes.
I heard that ordinary believers in Hybras wear clothes like that. For some reason, the knowledge in the novel was helpful.
“Just in case, don’t overexert yourself today and get some rest. “They said they would check on my condition tomorrow.”
“Is there a doctor?”
“No. There are people who can do similar work. “You saw it too.”
“Ah, is that the guy back then?”
“Yes.”
It appears that the man’s clothes were the robes worn by the Holy Knights of Hybras.
So I didn’t know. How can I know about the rituals of the Holy Knights, which have long since disappeared?
Even in the original work, there was no way to know because it was described as something like a ‘black robe’. There must be only one or two black robes in the world.
Anyway, the breakfast food I received was mushroom soup and milk with honey.
Seeing that I was completely treated as a patient even by people I met for the first time gave me an idea of my physical condition.
Actually, even if I brought other food, I didn’t complain because I thought I couldn’t eat it.
Sirien came with a salad focusing on fruits and vegetables.
I guess I can at least complain about the side dishes now. It seemed like he didn’t really like the food here.
“Do you think the chef here is not very good?”
“Huh? Why all of a sudden?”
“It’s a diet that doesn’t require cooking. “I like sweet things because it’s a child’s taste.”
“It’s not like that. Just…… “I’m attracted to this kind of thing now.”
“Really? “I guess I was wrong.”
Then Sirien laughed.
I burst out laughing as soon as I put the vegetables in my mouth.
“Actually, it’s a bit bad. “I asked to bake cookies a while ago, but they were so hard and tasteless.”
“Are you just eating salad from then on?”
“No. Ordinary baked bread was worth eating. What everyone usually eats. “The vegetables and fruits are grown locally, so they are fresh and delicious.”
“It looks like you’re a cook rather than a chef.”
“Phew. What is that metaphor? Still, I think it’s roughly correct. “I’m not a person who can be called a chef.”
Still, the soup was worth eating normally.
The honey milk was a little sweeter than what we had at the castle. It may be a reflection of Sirien’s taste.
Because Sirien liked sweet things. Now that I think about it, she wanted to drink milk mixed with henna and honey, so when she gets the chance later, she’ll take it with her.
While she was eating, she heard about what had happened.
These are the stories right after I killed the spider.
It wasn’t much different from what I expected. Sirien was baptized by the Church of Hybra and was recognized as a saint.
She has many ceremonies left to perform, she said, but the time it takes to prepare will allow her to spend the extra time free. She did not tell us how she decided to become a saint. I can only guess that in exchange for performing the ritual, she was promised protection here and my life.
The stigmata of Hybras appeared on the back of her left hand. She is the heroine of the original work. Ellis was the back of her right hand, so maybe she was the opposite of even these things?
For some reason, I felt bad because my beautiful, white skin seemed to have been ruined.
“People here liked me a lot because I became a saint. “I heard that a long-held wish has come true.”
“Are there a lot of people in a place like this?”
“Not much. Seven people in total? I think it’s about the same. “I don’t know if there will be more.”
“Aren’t you disappointed? She wasn’t baptized even when she was in the castle. “I don’t know which god I want to serve yet.”
“It’s unfortunate, but I don’t regret it. Even if time goes back, I will make the same decision.”
As soon as Sirien finished her meal, she came into my arms.
Thanks to that, she was forced to lie down and I had to bear Sirien’s weight. She seemed lighter than before.
Soft cheeks rub against my chest. I was about to say something, but stopped because her expression looked so happy.
Eyes curved like a crescent moon, filled with joy. Mouth with a grinning smile. The arms seem to want to hug me tightly, but their strength is relaxed as if they are sensing that I am in pain.
She seemed to be in a lot of trouble, so I quietly stroked the top of her head.
Sirien liked this part the most.
A movement that seems to lower the bangs to the forehead. It was because he didn’t like messing with her hair, but he liked stroking the top of her head.
Sirien was satisfied after enjoying my body heat for a long time.
We lay on top of each other and looked at the ceiling together. The wallpaper, faded with time, was visible to my eyes.
Sirien’s hand suddenly stretched out above him.
“Razen. Now I’m a saint. See, if you do this, you can also use sacred law.”
“Yes. I heard. Well written. “I feel rewarded for studying from a long time ago.”
A scarlet light flickered above her hand.
It was a light like a calm lamp. It was also a light so warm that I felt warmth at first glance.
In her novel, Sirien caused her death by pouring out pitch-black divinity, but she actually seemed to be able to use that divinity like this.
“I can now use healing arts? The first thing I did after being baptized was to restore you. I poured out all my divinity every day. So when you woke up, I was so happy as if I could fly.”
Her Sirien’s hand played with her upper arm. She then found her wrist and grabbed her hand.
Despite all the hardships she had endured together, Sirien’s hands were still soft and soft.
“You know, Razen.”
“Yes.”
“I worked really hard. This time, I fought as hard as you did. I risked everything to protect us both. So, praise me.”
“Good job. This time, I really survived thanks to you, Siri. Thank you.”
“I really wanted to hear that? Please do just a little more. “I think I’d be happier if I could hug you.”
If you ask, you should do it.
He wrapped his arms around her small belly and hugged her. Sirien put her hand on top of her and she hehehehe. She laughed out loud.
Her folded hands were hotter than usual.
My heart. The sound of each other’s hearts could be heard riding on Sirien’s back. Thump thump. Thump thump. It seemed as if my heart, which was beating alternately, had suddenly become one.
We quietly listened to the heartbeat for a long time. The occasional breeze that came in was pleasant.
“Razen. Since I am a saint, I can ordain myself a knight.”
Suddenly, Sirien gurgled and swallowed her saliva.
Because it was a quiet room, all sounds could be heard clearly.
“Of course, you have always been my knight. “Just as you didn’t ask for an oath to protect me, I don’t need an oath to consider you my knight.”
Clear voice. He continued speaking without hesitation, as if he had been thinking about it for a long time.
The girl who looked delicate suddenly stood up.
“But I want to try it at least once. It doesn’t matter whether the world knows it or not, but I want to officially make you my knight. It’s okay if it’s our own ritual. No, I think it would be better if it were just the two of us.”
The girl who stood up first extended her hand towards me.
“Please, Razen. “Would you like to be my knight?”
