Chapter 25: Guerilla Warfare (5)
Yoo Seong, who had left the village of Philo about an hour earlier, decided to stop and find a place to rest.
This was because the sunset was rolling in from a distance.
‘Guess I should take a break.’
The cost required to summon Camelot’s forces was Yoo Seong’s mental energy.
Considering its performance, it was an extremely cost-effective ability, but even so, it had its limits.
While riding, he didn’t feel it, but as soon as he got off the horse, his head spun, and he felt dizzy to the point that his legs almost gave out.
Yoo Seong sent Alphonse away and sat down as if burying himself against a large rock piled high with fallen leaves, leaning his back against it.
However, Rene, after looking around the area and muttering some kind of incantation, sat closely beside Yoo Seong.
“I’ll cast a heating spell.”
As Rene said this, she placed her palm on the rock, which began to radiate warmth as if it were a heated floor.
Since they had to stay hidden, it was difficult to start a fire, but Rene was indeed resourceful.
‘Still, she really knows a ton of spells.’
Even from what he had seen so far, the spells she used seemed enough to count on two hands and then some.
“Rene, where did you learn magic?”
At Yoo Seong’s question, Rene paused her hand, which had been covering herself with fallen leaves like a blanket, and spoke.
“I learned from Lord Veles. He’s been in the domain since before I was born, and he’s truly amazing.”
Judging by how she clenched her fists and her eyes sparkled, she seemed to greatly admire her teacher, Veles.
“He’s away from the domain temporarily now, but if Master had been here, no one would have dismissed the revelation I received as a mere dream. Master would have seen that it was truly a revelation.”
It seemed she was still upset about her family treating it as nonsense.
‘Well, she ran away from home over it, so that checks out.’
Watching Rene pout her lips, Yoo Seong chuckled lightly and decided to take care of an important task before resting or eating.
“Rene, I’m going to check something real quick.”
“Oh, the status window you mentioned before?”
“Yeah, that.”
When they had talked about magic growth before, he had given her a rough explanation, and Rene had grasped the concept of the status window to some extent.
‘Oh, so it’s like a ledger?’
Remembering what Rene had said after hearing the explanation, Yoo Seong smiled faintly.
Since it was a table that recorded various increases and decreases, it wasn’t wrong to say that the status window was also a type of ledger.
“Status window.”

His overall stats had increased as his level rose, but there were no dramatic changes.
Still, Yoo Seong grinned.
This was because something naturally came to mind regarding his current level of ‘9.’
‘Something big happens every 10 levels.’
In Fantasy Monarch, job-related growth was noticeable in level intervals of 5.
Just as Yoo Seong had gained Aura Blade upon reaching level 5, every 5 levels, he could acquire a skill related to his profession.
However, during these 5-level cycles, the 10-level cycle brought even greater growth.
Additionally, level 10 was typically the point at which a class upgrade occurred.
An apprentice knight would become a knight, and an apprentice magician would become a magician.
And Yoo Seong’s current level was 9.
If he raised it by just 1 more, he would gain something significant.
‘Perhaps there’ll be changes to my chivalry.’
A class upgrade was a significant change, after all.
‘I’ll know once I hit level 10.’
Smiling faintly, Yoo Seong selected Legion Management.

Title: Rider of ??? (New! / Locked)
Skills: Acceleration Lv1 (New!)
Both Kate and Vanadein had reached level 5 and gained new skills.
‘For Kate, it’s Aura Blade, and for Vanadein, it’s Multi-Shot, so that’s shooting two arrows at once?’
Vanadein already fired arrows like a machine gun thanks to Rapid Fire, but now that it involved shooting two arrows at a time, it sounded both impressive and concerning. He wondered if his arrows would even last.
‘Diana’s Acceleration makes her even faster.’
The faster she became, the more powerful her charge attacks would grow, making it a perfect match for Diana’s chivalry.
‘The units’ maximum sizes have also increased with their level-ups.’
The infantry and archer units both had enough reserves that it didn’t seem necessary to invest points in reinforcing them.
‘I’ve got 30 points right now.’
Instead of immediately using points on blacksmith upgrades, Yoo Seong spent 10 points to increase the light cavalry unit to its maximum capacity.
‘And now for the upgrade.’
[Upgrade Light Cavalry Unit to Elite Light Cavalry Unit: 10pt]
[Diana’s Elite Light Cavalry Unit Lv1]
Unit Leader: Diana
Members: 15+1 (Max: 15+1) / Reserve: 5
[Reinforce Elite Light Cavalry Unit by 1 member: 2pt]
[Add Rider to Elite Light Cavalry Unit: 2pt]
[Blacksmith Bonus: Equip Horseshoes: 10pt]
Spending 20 points to upgrade to an elite unit significantly increased overall stats, and he now had the ability to add additional riders.
‘Still, they’re only using lances. Looks like they’re sticking to the air cavalry tech tree.’
Light cavalry units typically progressed to using bows as they advanced.
After all, the primary role of light cavalry was to rapidly traverse the battlefield, shower arrows, or make quick strikes with lances at flanks or the rear.
But Diana’s cavalry didn’t use bows.
Moreover, Diana’s chivalry was better suited to heavy armored cavalry than typical light cavalry.
‘All things considered, the air cavalry path seems likely.’
This referred to a unit type that didn’t exist in reality but was possible in the fantasy world of Fantasy Monarch.
Pegasus riders, griffon riders, wyvern riders—airborne cavalry units that dominated the skies.
‘Sky knights are the ultimate fantasy.’
Imagining a sky knight executing a dive-bomb attack from high above, Yoo Seong smiled contentedly.
Considering Diana’s chivalry, such attacks could indeed resemble meteors.
‘The skill name could be Meteor Strike or something.’
Or perhaps Dragoon Dive.
The thought alone amused him, so Yoo Seong smiled a little more as he pondered how to spend the remaining 10 points.
‘Let’s check out the logistics facilities first.’
When he pressed the castle management button, a large image of Yoo Seong Castle appeared before him.
Just then—
“Wow.”
Startled by the sound of admiration beside him, Yoo Seong turned his head in surprise.
There stood Rene, gazing at the image in the air with sparkling eyes.
“Wait, Rene. Can you see the status window?”
“Huh? Oh, yes, I can. Wow…That’s Kate over there, right?”
Rene pointed to Kate, sitting under a tree and polishing the banner, and asked. Yoo Seong nodded in surprise before asking again.
“Can you see the text? Or read it?”
“No, not the text. It’s all characters I’ve never seen before. Still, since you were smiling so much, I figured it was something good.”
At her reply, Yoo Seong felt a bit embarrassed and cleared his throat.
Now that he thought about it, from Rene’s perspective, he must have looked like a strange person grinning at nothing.
‘At least Rene can see the status window, though.’
It seemed she truly was suited to being the King’s Magician.
Now that she could see the status window, they could discuss it together. Pointing to Yoo Seong Castle, he explained,
“This is Camelot’s forces. I was about to check what new facilities I could add to the castle.”
“Oh, that makes sense. Right now, there’s only barracks and a blacksmith. The barracks are just big and empty, so Kate and Diana have to sleep with the soldiers.”
The slightly critical observation made Yoo Seong flinch as he opened the logistics facility window.
[Add Mess Hall: 5pt]
[Install Simple Toilets: 5pt]
[Install Simple Baths: 5pt]
[Build Training Grounds: 15pt]
[Barracks Lv1]
A barracks for the soldiers to stay in. Crowded and lacking in cleanliness.
The officers sleep with the soldiers, making it uncomfortable for both.
The infantry seem relatively satisfied with the current conditions.
[Barracks Upgrade Cost: 10pt]
[Blacksmith Lv1]
A basic blacksmith where simple tasks can be performed. Inadequate facilities and personnel for full-scale work.
[Blacksmith Upgrade Cost: 20pt]
There were plenty of facilities to add, but the descriptions of the existing ones were, to put it mildly, dismal.
‘Why are the infantry satisfied, though?’
Perhaps it was because they got to see Kate’s warm smile every morning and evening. Knowing her personality, she likely said goodnight and good morning to everyone kindly. That could be considered a perk.
‘Anyway, I only have 10 points to work with right now.’
Most of the additional facilities were convenience-related, offering effects like morale boosts and increased recovery speeds.
‘Upgrading the barracks would increase satisfaction and recovery speed.’
While dissatisfaction wouldn’t lead to mutinies, managing morale and fatigue was essential for maintaining combat effectiveness.
“Uh…Yoo Seong?”
Rene asked cautiously. Yoo Seong pointed to the status window and replied,
“Oh, the current options are a dining hall, toilets, and a bath. Upgrading the barracks is also possible.”
Upgrading the blacksmith wasn’t an option due to insufficient points.
‘There’s no shortage of ways to spend points.’
To grow his forces the way he wanted, he would need to fight and win many battles. That added a bit of extra motivation.
After hearing his explanation, Rene looked at Yoo Seong Castle and commented,
“Well, all of those are necessary. Thinking about it, where does everyone bathe or…you know, go?”
“Uh… I guess over there somewhere?”
There was something resembling a water channel within the castle, so maybe they were using that.
At Yoo Seong’s uncertain tone, Rene furrowed her brow slightly and said:
“The soldiers are one thing, but I feel bad for Sister Kate and Sister Diana.”
Yoo Seong agreed, so he had nothing to say in response.
“Hmm, then let’s start with the bathroom. Yeah, we’ll add a bathroom first. Between the dining hall and the bathhouse, which one should we add next?”
“My heart says bathhouse, but if it’s one or the other, wouldn’t it be the dining hall?”
They say the three basic human desires are hunger, sex, and sleep.
Nodding at Rene’s words, Yoo Seong agreed.
He, too, understood how important the joy of eating was, especially in the military.
“Alright, let’s add a bathroom and a dining hall.”
Unfortunately, the training grounds and blacksmith would have to be postponed.
Once Yoo Seong decided and chose the simple bathroom and dining hall, a small tent appeared in a corner of the castle, followed by a fairly large tent near the water channel.
‘Well, they’re called simple for a reason.’
Still, perhaps because something that didn’t exist before had been added, the soldiers’ expressions brightened.
Because the soldiers were depicted as chibi-like caricatures, their expressions were extremely exaggerated, almost like looking at emoticons.
‘Kate and Diana are happy too.’
Seeing Kate smiling softly at the bathroom and Diana patting her chest in gratitude, Yoo Seong chuckled, then smiled again when he looked at the dining hall.
[Today’s Cook on Duty: Jimmy]
Jimmy, wearing a chef’s hat and apron, stood by a large pot holding a ladle.
Judging by the description, it seemed to be a rotating system where everyone took turns being the cook.
‘I’m curious what it’ll be like when it’s Kate’s turn.’
Should he keep checking Yoo Seong Castle whenever he had the chance?
“The soldiers have hearts above their heads. That means they like it, right?”
“Yeah, their satisfaction has noticeably increased.”
At Yoo Seong’s response, Rene smiled like Kate usually did, and Yoo Seong smiled too.
‘I have to take even better care of them.’
After all, they were comrades who had already faced life and death together several times.
“Anyway, Rene, now it’s time to level you up.”
“Me? Level me up?”
“Yeah, you.”
Since he’d finished managing the corps, it was time to level up Rene, the only individual hero.
[Hero Management]

“Wow, there’s a lot of things to upgrade.”
Even though she couldn’t read the text, Rene was sharp enough to immediately figure out that there were many options to choose from.
Nodding, Yoo Seong said:
“I’m thinking about upgrading your mana first. What do you think?”
“What are the other options?”
At Rene’s question, Yoo Seong listed them all, causing Rene’s expression to turn rather odd.
“Uh, bare-handed combat?”
“Well, actually, you do have a talent for martial arts.”
At Yoo Seong’s response, Rene’s expression grew even stranger. She seemed to mull over something before shaking her head firmly.
“No, um, for now, please go with magic.”
“Yeah, that’s the obvious choice.”
Even Rene herself thought martial arts didn’t really suit her.
“With the remaining 4 points, I’m thinking of adding a warhorse. What do you think?”
“A warhorse?”
“Yeah, considering mobility, it’d be better if both of us had our own mounts.”
Right now, with only one horse available, Yoo Seong had to leave Rene behind or ride with her when charging. Both options seemed risky.
Hearing this, Rene pursed her lips slightly in what looked like reluctance—or maybe disappointment—but eventually nodded.
“Yes, I think it would be good to have a horse.”
“Alright, let’s add a warhorse.”
After adding the warhorse, Yoo Seong decided to save the remaining 1 point for later.
“Can I try summoning it?”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
“Rainy.”
At Rene’s soft call, a slender white horse appeared in a gentle glow of light.
‘Looks fancy.’
It wasn’t just pretty—it seemed regal, almost noble.
But when Rene approached and extended her hand, it lowered its head calmly, looking quite docile.
“Good, good, aren’t you sweet.”
As Yoo Seong warmly watched Rene playing around with Rainy for a while, he glanced up at the sky.
He’d forgotten for a moment, distracted by the glowing status window, but it was already pitch-black night.
‘Let’s rest a bit and set out at dawn.’
Although he felt an urgency after witnessing the tragedy at Philo Village, Yoo Seong forced himself to hold back.
The upcoming battles would likely last for several days, so he needed to conserve his energy.
After returning to sit with Rene and finishing a simple meal together, Yoo Seong deliberately closed his eyes to rest.
