chapter 24
Episode 24 – This is the famous bread restaurant, right? (2)
The busiest street in Arcanium.
Patos’ repair shop was located about a couple of blocks away.
At first glance, the fact that it was a bit far from the downtown area meant that it was inevitably treated as having set up a store in a secluded location because it was crowded out by stores that were doing well.
But now
“Bam! “Give me the bread!”
In front of this store, a bit far from the downtown area
“Oh please! Don’t push! “The store is so small that more people can’t go in!”
There was a huge crowd of people.
“Are you here to buy bread too?”
“hehehehe, my son said the bread here is so delicious. “I was curious about how delicious it was so I came to buy it myself.”
People who visit Pathos’ repair shop have only one purpose.
It was to buy incredibly delicious bread that can only be found at this store.
◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈
What on earth happened?
I woke up early in the morning to buy eggs and pork for breakfast, and a lot of people were gathered in front of the store.
“What is it?”
Judging by the fact that each person is holding money in their hands, it looks like they are here to buy something.
Could it be that these are people who came to my store to request repairs?
‘Hmm.’
However, it is even more suspicious that people who came to repair items are dressed lightly and there are no items to be repaired.
First of all, since we have to avoid those people, it would be safer to enter through the back door connected to the studio rather than through the front door.
As I entered through the back door, avoiding people’s gaze, I was greeted by a clean and tidy workroom.
Well, the studio was just a space where I cooked and slept.
Instead, a small sledgehammer lying on the table caught my eye.
A hammer found at the place where we first met Epirina.
The other items were in excellent condition, but this one still had the shape of a rusty sledgehammer on an old wooden handle.
‘I guess I’ll have to buy a new hammer later.’
Well, it’s not broken yet, so I’ll have to buy a new one later.
However, when I fix something, I don’t hit it hard with a hammer, but I only hit it with a light tapping force, so it won’t break.
Anyway, that’s not what’s important right now.
‘Why on earth are so many people gathered outside?’
I couldn’t guess the cause with my poor brain.
The only person who opened the store and welcomed a customer was Mina.
The woman called Elena was not a customer, but actually a handmaid who came into my store due to some misunderstanding.
‘Could it be that that girl called Elena did something of her own?’
Otherwise, there would be no way so many people would come here.
Ha, damn it. I never did anything bad, so what happened?
‘Er, I don’t know. A forced breakthrough!’
If you hit someone with a hammer, wouldn’t the person be healed? I also think so.
I carefully left the studio and opened the store door.
Then suddenly the people all took a couple of steps back.
It is rather fortunate. If people suddenly rush in, I could be crushed to death.
“Do you have anything to do at the repair shop this morning?”
I asked questions to people with a friendly smile to serve customers.
When I asked the question with a smile, people were hesitant.
“Hey, that…” “Does this store also sell bread?”
Bread? Wait, bread? What is this sound?
“Bread? Our store is a repair shop, right? “We’re not selling bread.”
No, what does this mean? Isn’t this a bakery?
“What do you mean! “He said you can get super delicious bread here!”
“Yes?”
Who is that person?
Mr. Ha, the only people who are suspicious are Mina, Elena, and the dormitory housemaster.
Huh? Wait for a sec.
Dormitory housemaster? Was that guy bragging that he bought bread here?
“By any chance, did the Glessius Academy dormitory teacher say that he got the bread here?”
“Hmm. No, that… “I didn’t say it myself, but oh, so you can get bread here?”
I’m going crazy, really. No, they gave you two more loaves as hush money, but you couldn’t stand it and started talking about it, so you created this division?
It’s going to spin, really. We will never provide service to that person from now on.
“Unfortunately, we do not sell bread separately. “This is something we provide as a service to customers who come to repair items to commemorate the opening of the business.”
I kindly explained things to the customers who came looking for bread.
When I provided the bread, I provided it solely as a service.
In other words, bread was not a product sold separately.
“Well, then! “Where did you get that bread?”
“I just bought it at a local bakery nearby?”
Of course, there was no such thing as an oven to bake bread in my store.
There is a fire pit in the backyard, but it is only for grilling meat or making stew.
In other words, when I buy bread, I usually buy it from local bakeries.
“Don’t lie! “I’ve been to all the bakeries in my neighborhood, but there’s no place that sells bread so delicious!”
“That’s right, that’s right!”
“Sell us bread! Sell the bread!”
“No, wait a minute!”
I took a moment to calm down the people selling bread.
Now that it’s like this, I have to hand out bread to people and tell them to come to my store if they need something to fix.
“I’ll give you bread! But there is a condition!”
“What are the conditions!”
“Oh, speak quickly!”
“It’s not that difficult.”
I told the guests gathered here the conditions under which I would provide bread.
I will be handing out free bread to those gathered here right now as a promotion for the store.
Instead, if the people who received the bread have something to fix or know someone who needs to fix something, please tell them about our store.
Also, as a service, we give half a loaf of bread to anyone who repairs an item, so we hope you take advantage of it.
It was roughly like this.
Of course, people were making a fuss about doing that, and I had no choice but to hammer out each and every piece of bread I had bought to eat for a month and turn it into delicious bread.
It was quite funny to see everyone going home with a loaf of bread in their hands.
No, what on earth is this bread causing such a fuss about?
“It’s just soft white bread.”
I said, taking a piece of bread that had turned delicious after being beaten with a hammer and eating it.
No matter how you look at it, it’s white bread that’s softer than rough bread.
Only after the guests had left was I able to cook the stew and enjoy a comfortable meal.
◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈
“Yes, welcome!”
“Well, I heard you can get delicious bread here…” ….”
“This is not a bakery.”
After breakfast, it was lunch time, but all the customers coming here were talking about bread.
Some of them even asked if this was a bread store.
“This is the famous bread restaurant, right?”
“No, this is a repair shop.”
By the afternoon, some people came here thinking that this was a good bread restaurant.
No, this is not a bread restaurant, but a repair shop! Su!Ri!Point!
“Ha.”
Strangely, after the bread incident, every customer who visited our store was looking for bread.
I even asked the magician what I should give as a service to the wizard who brought in a cracked dish or a broken plate and asked me to fix it.
“The mana potion is done, please give me the bread.”
He said.
Isn’t it normal for a wizard to like a mana potion more than a piece of bread?
Even though I thought it was strange, I offered the wizard guest a loaf of bread as a service.
For reference, the bread sold in this world was not the white bread we know, but just round bread.
This is a type of bread that is made by kneading dough made of flour, water, and salt into an oval shape and baking it in the oven.
In addition, because they used coarse whole wheat flour instead of white flour, the bread of this world was very crumbly.
‘Is that why you like this bread so much?’
People may like this bread because it is not rough and crumbly, but has a soft and chewy texture.
I, too, would prefer white, delicious, and soft bread like this to rough, crumbly whole wheat bread.
“But this is too much.”
It appears that the promotion was well received, as each person who visited our store was holding an item in their hands that they wanted to fix.
I repaired the items at a relatively cheaper price than buying new ones, and provided them with half a loaf of bread as a service.
We stocked various service items, but people liked bread more than anything else.
So, I had no choice but to continue providing bread as a service, and in the process, I was able to become friends with the local bakery owner.
“hahahahaha. “Thanks to you, I was able to get rid of the bread that was already unsold and stuck in the warehouse at a low price. Thank you very much!”
“Oh, yes…” Yes. Ha ha ha.”
“I don’t know where all that bread was used, but I believe it must have been put to good use. “It will be difficult for poor people because they cannot even eat this coarse bread.”
“I guess so.”
The bakery owner’s deep misunderstanding was a bonus.
If I continue like this, I really feel like I will have to provide bread to the slums later.
“This is the famous bread restaurant, right?”
“Oh, yes. This is a great bread restaurant. Yes. Anyway.”
I don’t know. Should I just take off the repair shop sign and put up a bakery sign?
