Soviet Yekaterinburg

A group of people was moving a corpse.

That corpse was once the sacred body of the imperial family, revered by the subjects of the ‘Empire’ during their lifetime.

The man observing the soon-to-be-cremated bodies smirked bitterly.

“How fleeting it all is.”

“Comrade Yakov, what do you mean by that?”

“Look over there. Isn’t it ironic that the royal family, who should have been under the Lord’s protection, met their demise at our bullets?”

The last Tsar (Emperor) of the Russian Empire, Nicholas II, along with the Empress and their children.

God, who was supposed to protect them, was nowhere to be found, and the imperial family fell victim to Bolshevik bullets, now reduced to cold corpses that would rot away as time passes.

“Indeed.”

“In the end, they were just like us. They enjoyed all the riches and luxuries of royalty up until now.”

Yakov Yurovski, who led this execution at the Ural Workers’ Soviet, sneered as if he couldn’t contain his anger.

“There’s some truth to that, Comrade. If they were truly under divine protection, wouldn’t they resurrect right here?”

“Hehe. If they did come back to life, we’d be the first ones to kill them again. This just proves once more that religion is merely the opiate of the people.”

If a Lord truly existed, would He have left that royal family of the Russian Orthodox Church to die?

In the end, that so-called God is just a delusion.

And the religion that claims to serve Him is nothing but a lie, an opiate for the people.

Yakov smirked wryly.

Well, it was fortunate that it ended this way.

“Once it’s over, make sure to pacify those comrades who bemoan not being able to rape the princesses. We can’t stain the party unnecessarily.”

Had they been alive, those comrades with sticky fingers would have likely made a mess of things.

Thinking that, he turned his back, hoping this tiresome time would soon come to an end.

Now, they just need to undress the bodies, burn them, and bury them carelessly.

The reason for their haste was simple.

While they had killed the imperial family, counter-revolutionaries were marching toward Yekaterinburg to secure the imperial family.

It was already pointless, but it was clear that the city would soon fall into the hands of the counter-revolutionaries, just like the lifeless royal family before them.

All that remained for them would be a mangled corpse beyond recognition.

However, suddenly, the Cheka agents handling the bodies started screaming.

“What’s going on?”

Did someone come back to life?

That wouldn’t be possible. Certainly, they would have stabbed the princess, who had once survived because of hidden jewels, with a bayonet.

But…

“Princess. The princess is alive!”

That outrageous event actually unfolded.
