chapter 8
8 – no guess.(3)
A different reaction than in the past.
I knew that it would have been the kind of hospitality I would have received if I hadn’t thrown my fist before, so I felt a little bit regretful as I remember my previous life. But it wasn’t all that sad.
I knew the mistakes of the past better than anyone else, so I was confident not to repeat them. Just as he smiled at me now, I will change him so that he can only look at me in the midst of many things he may experience in the future.
I was thinking too much and forgot that I should stop saying hello. I hurriedly organized my thoughts and responded to his greeting.
“…Nice to meet you, Prince Krause. I am Elena Edelweiss, the eldest daughter of the Edelweiss family.”
aaa!! It’s so hard!!!!
I tried to laugh, but I’m worried that it might have seemed too contrived. The words that came out of his mouth were hard as stone, probably because he had said them in a state of tension.

Maybe it seemed like I didn’t like talking to myself. Because of this, what if he says he wants to break the engagement right away, like before? All kinds of worries popped up all at once. Fortunately, contrary to my concerns, he didn’t seem particularly displeased.
Rather, he thought he was nervous because of the people around him, so he talked to the butler standing next to him and sent Haley outside. As Haley walked out the door, she winked at me with one eye and walked out with a mischievous grin.
When the door closes, silence sets in in the room. Now, the only ones left in this room are me and him.
only two
‘uh?’
As soon as I realized that fact, my head started to heat up again.
It seems that strange thoughts do not leave my head today enough to make me look back on myself to see if I was such an obscene person. Even though he knew in his head that he wasn’t that kind of person, and that he wasn’t even the kind of man to be with his fiancée, whom he met for the first time today, it was desire, not reason, that dominated his thinking.
A man and a woman in their prime are sitting in a room alone.
The servants had already left, and despite the transcendental senses that transcended humans, they were letting them know that there were no other people around them other than themselves. Even if it seems like someone will come, it’s just a matter of hitting the cognitive barrier.
The important thing is that no one will know what happens in this room.
‘Honestly, isn’t a woman like me worth touching?’
Having lived through three lives, Elena was well aware of how beautiful her appearance was. Regardless of honor or status, such as a sword master, a great wizard, or an emperor of an empire, there was not a single man who did not turn his eyes toward him.
Even the priests who worshiped the goddess of beauty and the person who called that goddess seemed worse than herself. In fact, there was a time when he was cursed by a goddess because of that. Of course, he immediately retaliated and threw him off the throne and then beat him on the cheek to the extent that it caught fire.
Some of those called transcendentalists were fascinated by their beauty and could not overcome their desires, so there were those who attacked and tried to be defeated. He was not among them, but now he has neither a lover nor animosity towards himself.
Uh, isn’t this a good enough possibility?
If she had thought rationally, Elena would have known that the kind of thing she thought would not happen, but it was impossible to think of her now. While Elena was delusional, Damian moved first.
His body trembled at the slightest movement.
I really had a little bit of a thought that my delusion might come true, but as expected, that couldn’t happen.
He just pulled out two sets from a tea set that was lying next to him and poured one for me and one for himself. Then, handing him the fragrant tea, he took a sip of the tea with the same calm face as when he first saw it.
It was only then that he realized what nonsense he was imagining.
The archmage who had surpassed even the gods was swayed by desire and lost his reason. If the foreign gods and countless other spirits who had died at his hands had seen it, he would have been speechless even if he had been robbed and left the throne of his own.
If I had been a man who would lose to such a desire in the first place, I would not have fallen for him like this.
However, apart from him, I felt a bit regretful about whether I was not that attractive to him. Because of that, he became sullen again, and when I was just touching the teacup he handed me over, he started talking to me.
“Even though we’re engaged, this is the first time we’ve actually met, right? Lady Edelweiss.”
“Yes…”
But there was no further conversation going on here.
He thought I was still nervous about my reaction, and I couldn’t think of anything to say to the shame of my delusion. As I was about to become quiet in the room again, a sweet smell started to emanate from somewhere.
I turned my head to find the source of the smell, and it was on a plate next to the tea set he had prepared. It seems that the food cover has been covered, so I haven’t noticed it for a while. The desserts on the plate were comparable to those made by famous chocolatiers in the islands.
Come to think of it, I remember that there was one chocolatier who worked in the island as the head chef in Count Krause’s family. When I remembered that the only joy I felt here in my first life was being able to eat the dessert he made at any time, I understood why such a work was here.
Perhaps he knew that I had a reaction to the dessert, and he opened his mouth with a happy face.
“Because I usually enjoy eating sweets. It’s embarrassing, but I prepared it in advance to eat it with the young lady. Does Lady Edelweiss like sweets too?”
“Ah, yes. Yes. I like it.”
‘lie. I couldn’t eat any sweets…’
The fact that he couldn’t eat sweets was one of the proofs that he wasn’t Damian. It was because Damian ate enough sweets that he himself couldn’t eat well.
The reason he prepared this was probably for himself. It must have been to relieve tension, but looking at what he said and that dessert, I suddenly remembered what happened in my previous life.
It was the same place as here, but the atmosphere was different from now.
Even at the spot, those desserts were in the same place. Even though I threw it on the floor and made a mess.
‘It must have been a mess to prepare.’
He said as he looked at the desserts crushed beyond recognition. His eyes looking at me were like sharp knives, unlike those eyes now.
‘I don’t think there’s any need to talk…well, there’s no need to use honorifics. Elena Edelweiss. It looks like you want to break off the engagement, so I’ll do whatever you want.’
That was the end. There was no further conversation and I left the Countess with Haley without looking back.
That’s how the former me and he became wrongly tied from the first button, and a relationship that could never be achieved. I know it’s not now, but I wonder if the lingering feelings left in my heart were unavoidable, and even if I keep asking and burying it, it reminds me of it again. The more we look at the present, which is different from the past, the more we see it.
He carefully starts putting the dessert on the plate. When all kinds of desserts were put on the plate one by one, he handed them to me with a smile.
If I hadn’t acted like that before, he would have acted the same way as now, but seeing these refreshments in good shape reminds me of the desserts he crushed.
It was what I crushed. his goodwill.
Even though it’s nothing now, I was sorry and grateful to him because I remembered that I had already trampled on his good intentions once.
I took a piece of cake from the ones he gave me, cut it into small pieces again with a fork, and put it in my mouth.
“Yum~”
As expected of a chef with a certain skill, the cake was fantastic. The finest chocolate and whipped cream. Even the fluffy and moist dough was perfect.
As I slowly savored the cake, I hoped that I could continue to feel the sweetness spreading in my mouth.
