Ep. 1198 The Peninsula Part 5
Of course, we can't go into too much detail since we don't know the full situation. It is more general ideas of what we want to accomplish first once we arrive. Getting everyone assigned a place to live will have to be the first priority.
The beasts will have moved a good portion of their people to the city, but no way have they filled it. Thanks to the enchantments that I set in motion, there should be more than enough empty houses. Anything beyond that will have to wait until I have a chance to talk to Core.
One of the things that I need to remember to do is create a space and plant the seed. Having Athena with us will make that easier since she can tell me anything extra that I need to do. The elves have already acknowledged me, so I don't think we need to do any kind of ceremony.
I will just need to introduce Stillwater and the others to Core, they can figure things out. I won't be able to stay in the city long, I will need to head to the tower. If I make Myria come looking for me, she will most likely make me regret it.
Besides, Lin is going to want to get into the tower's library as soon as she can. Come to think of it, I should probably warn Bella so she doesn't get upset. Lin disappearing could easily be misunderstood, especially in the early part of the relationship.
Besides, I promised Bella that I would alter her body for her and I still haven't done it. I should probably take care of that before we reach the mountain and I get distracted. I guess I will do that tonight when the elves stop and make camp.
The elves continue marching with no complaints, in fact their morale seems to keep getting higher. During the march, lots of elves keep coming up alongside me and asking questions. Most of the questions are about the city and the history of their people.
I answer as many of the questions as I can, but hearing the same questions over and over quickly annoys me. Luckily, Stillwater knows me well enough to notice and he takes steps to stop it. He listens to my answers and then has other elves move along the column to spread the information.
That at least stops the repetitive questions, but the people just come up with new ones. I, of all people, can't blame them for being curious, but I am also not so good at being patient. Luckily, I get a break when we stop the column for a quick lunch.
However, it picks right back up once we are moving again and shows no signs of stopping. I am really tempted to just go back into the castle and avoid everyone. However, as much as I want to, I don't do it and keep answering questions.
After all, this is my own fault for hiding away from the elves for the entire trip. If I had spent more time with the elves I would have been able to answer these questions over time. It isn't like I am the only one being questioned, they are asking Stillwater and the others as well.
As we are marching, I manage to spot several beastmen that are watching us. Based on where we are, I am guessing that these are from the fox clan. This should be part of their territory and I already know that they are good scouts.
I would be more surprised if we weren't being watched, but I am a little worried. Since it is the fox clan watching us, then chances are that Muyaun will be the first to find me. If that happens, then Myria is sure to get pissed off about it and try to kill her.
Of course I will have to stop her, which will just make Myria pissed at me. However, I can't afford to wipe out the fox clan, not only do I need them but it would make recruiting the other clans harder. Besides, as much as I don't trust Muyaun, she has proven her usefulness.
Her scouts will be even more important if we end up at war with the empire. I can't allow Myria's jealousy to cause that kind of problem, especially when she has no reason for it. Muyaun may be beautiful and sexy, but Myria is the one who will be taking a place at my side.
My thoughts are interrupted when I see movement ahead of the column. Right now it is only a dot on the horizon, but it is getting larger meaning it is coming this way. From the rate the dot is growing, it is coming towards us at a scary rate of speed.
Just in case, I order the elves to stop and move out ahead of them a bit. Then I just wait until I can see what it is that is approaching us, although I already have an idea. Considering it is on the ground, there is only one being I know of that can move that fast.
A few minutes later my suspicions are proven correct, the dot becomes a gray lizard. It is definitely Lizzy, and she is running towards us at her full speed. When Lizzy gets a little closer I spot Windy on her back, clinging on for dear life.
At first I think that Lizzy is just excited to see me, but as she gets closer I realize I am wrong. Lizzy looks angry, like really angry and I quickly realize that she isn't going to stop. She is going to attack me, so I do the only thing that I can think of to stop her.
I drop shapeshift and as soon as I am in my normal form I roar at Lizzy. It turns out that in my normal form I am now bigger than Lizzy, which explains the shock on her face. At my roar, Lizzy plants all six feet as she tries to stop, the ground beneath her ripples as she does.
The ground forms ridges and helps Lizzy to come to a complete and sudden stop. Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply to Windy and she launches forward like an arrow. Luckily for her, I am directly in front of her and I am able to catch her without hurting her.
"Hi, Windy! Are you okay?"
Windy says "Yes, thanks to you!"
"Lizzy, are you going to behave?"
Lizzy says "Um, since I don't want to get eaten, I guess so."
With a laugh at her answer, I shapeshift back to beastman form and set Windy down. Then I signal to the elves that everything is alright and that they can continue the march. Lizzy, Windy, and I move off to the side so that they can pass.
"While I am happy to see the both of you, what are you doing here?"
Windy says "Ah, we are helping to build the road. Lizzy flattens the ground and I use my water magic to smooth it and compress it so that it is ready for the rocks to be laid."
"Oh, okay. I am glad to see you helping out. Lizzy, are you going to say anything?"
Lizzy says "You forgot about me, didn't you?!"
