Ep. 1212 Plots and Plans Part 2
Whatever it may have been, that should be easy enough to accomplish. That is if Pol or Anaya haven't already thought of it and taken care of it. I will have to try and remember to ask about it when I meet one of them.
At least, I am hoping that one of them will be in the city so that I can meet them. Well, I will find out about that soon enough since I am about to reach the city. The city walls are already complete and to me they look good and strong.
There are towers all along the walls and I can even spot soldiers manning them. It would be extremely difficult for an enemy to get near the city, but they are still fully prepared. Considering how the current situation with the empire is going, it is better to be paranoid.
As Lizzy approaches the walls, the large gate is opened and the soldiers stand to the sides. As we pass through the gate, the soldiers all salute me and I return the salute. I am happy to see that the soldiers are a mix of the tribes that have joined me.
"Let's slow down to a walk, I want to look around."
Lizzy says "Okay. Where are we going?"
"Just follow the main road. It should lead us to a main building or something like that."
Lizzy slows down to a walk and follows the main road as I look around at the city. The city isn't finished yet, there are a lot of empty lots and buildings under construction. However, what is finished is worth taking the time to take a look at.
The buildings are a mix of styles, ranging from gothic to roman architecture. I don't recognize all of them, but they have been built in such a way that they blend well with each other. With so many different styles, the buildings should clash with each other, but somehow they don't.
Mason has done a magnificent job in designing the city, I will be sure to tell him so. Although, I should have him go take a look at the elven buildings before the city is finished. He might be able to add their architecture to the mix in the city.
When we get to the middle of the city, I spot what must be the main building. It looks like a palace, but it has defensive walls and towers like a castle. It also has a big dome on top like a capital building from my old world.
When we approach, the gates are opened for us and the soldiers salute as we pass. I make sure to return the salutes as I take a look around at the courtyard behind the gate. As I am looking around, I notice someone at the top of the stairs of the main building.
Sarah says "Ash, welcome back!"
"Sarah? It is good to see you! I wasn't expecting to see you here, are you living here now?"
Sarah hugs me and says "No, I still live in Illium, but I come here every couple of days. The city still isn't fully operational, so I am just helping out for now."
"Well, it is good that you are here. I have a task for you."
Sarah says "For me? What do you need?"
"I need you to get a message to every summoned, even Isabella and Justin's group."
Sarah says "I can do that. What's the message?"
"I need you to ask them, who wants to go home?"
Sarah yells "WHAT?!?"
"Lin has mastered the summoning spell and how to reverse it. I am willing to send back anyone who wants to go. That is a decision that you will need to make as well."
Sarah says "Are you serious?! We can really go home if we want to?!"
"Well, it hasn't been tested yet, but the spell should work. We will probably ask for a volunteer to test it out first."
Sarah says "How would you be sure that it worked?"
"We would wait a few hours and then resummon them to ask."
Sarah says "Oh, I guess that would work since you have the summoning spell. Do you expect a lot of them to want to go home?"
"I don't know. It will depend on their situations. Some of them probably have family that they want to return to. Some of them may have already started new families here. Some may be like me and prefer this world. What about you?"
Sarah says "I will have to discuss it with Aaron, but my choice would be to remain in this world. I really like my life here. I was never a boss in our world, but I have found that I like being in charge."
"Does that mean that if you stay you would want more power and responsibilities?"
Sarah says "Maybe a bit more, but not too much. I still like running my inn and wouldn't want to give that up."
"Do you like this city?"
Sarah says "Yes, I do. Mason has done an amazing job, the city is beautiful."
"Well, what would you think of being the mayor of this city?"
Sarah says "Isn't this city going to be your capital? Do you really need a mayor for it?"
"That was the original plan, but it has changed. The elven capital will be the capital of our nation. A place where all the races can live together. In fact, I want to move some beastmen there to start living with the others."
Sarah says "Then what is going to be the purpose of this city?"
"It will be the center of trade and also the main base of the army."
Sarah says "That sounds pretty good. Let me talk to Aaron and if we are staying I will think about being the mayor."
"Alright, just let me know what you decide. Before you go, how about a tour of the building?"
Sarah says "Sure, follow me!"
Sarah happily leads me inside and starts showing me around the inside of the palace. It has a throne room and behind that is a series of suites for me and my family. The rest of the building is mainly offices and meeting rooms for the rest of the government.
Not that we really have a government right now, but eventually I guess we will need one. For now, I can probably let the chiefs of the tribes that have joined us use them. The room that currently is being used the most has a teleporter to Illium.
Sarah tells me that the other end is a room in the inn, which is the center of our operations. Sarah, and those working for her, are the ones who go back and forth the most. Before we can continue the tour, someone comes looking for me.
Muyaun says "Welcome back, master! It is good to see that you have returned safely."
"Hello, Muyaun. I take it you have been well?"
Muyaun says "Actually, yes. I didn't expect things to be as interesting as they are when I submitted to you. I never had anywhere near this much fun when I was just ruling my tribe."
