Chapter 7: The Tournament battles
Piccolo was happy they were able to progress through the prelims quickly, with each round he was in lasting barely 15 seconds at the longest. The only reason one of his lasted that long was his inner conflict for a few seconds as he fought a man with a desire to prove himself to his family. he was well trained but only had a power level of around 40. He was good, but Piccolo was better.
It was over after 3 hits from Piccolo. But to prove the man was recognized as a good fighter Piccolo allowed him to score one clean blow to his abdomen. The man cheered despite being flung out of the arena for hitting the son of the demon king so cleanly. But he fainted when Piccolo gave him an honest smile and said, with no malice at all, "Good hit, you trained well."
One stretcher later and he was out safely to the clinic to rest up.
Piccolo chuckled at that. Before noticing some commotion as a screaming Taopaipai was flung out of his battle against Chiaotzu as the tiny tyke had way more power here than in the original time line. With a smirk Piccolo walked over to the cussing mercenary who was about to pull a dirty trick before he leaned close and whispered, "You know I could end your existence here and eat your soul right? I might not be like my father but I still have his techniques and powers."
With a small puddle of pee and totally pale complexion Tao Paipai left in a huff putting up a front despite the pee staining his front.
Piccolo watched the rest of the matches. And got an idea on how to make the fights he would get into with the Z fighters interesting without it being a one sided slaughter.
Eventually they got to the chosen finalists and got assigned their foes. Goku would fight Chichi, then Tien, and finally Piccolo like in the original given his line up of opponents. But Piccolo found something interesting. Without Kami interfering he found himself fighting Jackie Chun in the first round then Krillin given how he will defeat his first round foe without too much difficulty.
Jackie chun looks to Piccolo with an angry glare and Piccolo just calmly stared back with a smile. He was ready to prove his changed nature against the man his father killed.
Piccolo pauses as he thinks that statement over. "Shit I should have cleared the air with Roshi... Oh well hindsight is 20-20. I hope in this case I can prove it."
Piccolo enters the arena with Jackie Chun and the announcer John yells out, "Here we are back again with the Worlds strongest under the Heavens Tournament! With the first round of the finals being between Jackie Chun! A previous champion from two tournaments before and a finalist in the last one! Let's see if he can reclaim his former glory! Or will his opponent prove too much for him in this case? Here he is! The self proclaimed son of the Demon King Piccolo!"
The cheers die instantly from that. AS the crowd quietly murmurs and looks uneasily at Piccolo. He sighs and removes his turban and cape. Making them crash outside the arena with big dust clouds. Roshi's eyes go wide at that as Piccolo nods to him with a smirk and say, "Yes, each of those are 300 pounds." They are actually about 1 ton total, but he doesn't need that knowledge.
With the knowledge of 600 pounds being removed from his opponent Roshi gulps and readies his power to maximum of 350. His boost of potential release was lesser than the other Z fighters, but it still boosted him somewhat at least.
Piccolo goes just beyond him and gets into his stance. Much to the shock and fear of the crowd as they see the literal son of the demon king who nearly slaughtered millions during his take over.
(It was tens of thousands in that one city, but who is keeping track.)
The announcer John manages to recover as many people begin to contemplate running for their lives as he reads the next part of his lines, "Oh! Right Piccolo claims to be a reformed fighter who doesn't want to take over anything and just simply wants to fight against the man who killed his father to prove who is stronger! He is ready to show us all that he is a changed man! Let us see if that is a bluff or if he is truly changed! Fight!"
As everyone questions who was it that killed his father. As most people weren't told by the king of the world for the sake of Goku's privacy. The fighters tensed up before exploding into action.
With the fight on Roshi charges first and goes for a solid side ways hand chop. Which Piccolo blocks with a solid elbow. Roshi has his other hand charged with a ki blast as Piccolo bends his body to the side and barely avoids the blast. With a smirk he rushes at the disguised turtle hermit who gasps at the speed.
A 10 hit combo lands on the old man before he manages to back flip away and land a bit further across the arena with a few ki blasts thrust at Piccolo. The demon prince blurs around them as they fly off into the sky.
Suddenly he is in front of Roshi who gasps as he is suddenly gut punched roughly folding over in half from the blow. Piccolo goes for a follow up attack only to grunt as a surprise cartwheel kick lands right into his chin.
He stumbles from the unexpected hit as Roshi fully charged up his Kamehameha beam and unleashes it.
Piccolo grins as he tesnes up and flares his ki. The beam makes contact and envelopes Piccolo.
The audience screams except for the friends of Goku who just try to endure the force of the blow to avoid being blown away.
Roshi pants hard as his attack ends. He let's out a sigh of relief that his ultimate attack landed cleanly before going slack jawed and bug eyed at seeing a grinning Piccolo standing there with only a few scuff marks on his green skin.
With a toothy smirk Piccolo rushes him and says, "Thanks for the match old man. You have gotten better."
Before launching Roshi out of bounds with a huge uppercut that leaves him mid air for a solid 15 seconds before crashing to the ground. Roshi gets up disoriented while John calls the match, "After such an explosive 2 minutes of fighting the contestant Jackie Chun has been ringed out! What an ending for such an epic match! Let's hear it for Piccolo!"
Crickets.... Crickets all around.
Piccolo shrugs and helps Roshi back onto the ring despite the old man's protests and says, "Eh can't win them all over after all ."
He goes back to watch the matches play out and is... Mixed on his emotions on the results.
Krillin takes out his opponent Chiaotsu who still hasn't learned his triple number additions and subtractions. Tien is embarrassed at how he thought double digit numbers would be enough for his friend to avoid that strategy against him.
Then Chi chi went flying out of her match after lasting at least 15 blows from a 1500 power level Goku. Showing her skill and power aren't bluffs.
Yamcha and Tien went at it and Yamcha put up a better fight this time. But was still taken out with a non life threatening Kikoho attack.
With it being Piccolo versus Krillin.
And Goku versus Tien.
The finals were looking promising.
But only one thing was on Piccolo's mind... After the tournament... What the hell do I do to train and grow as a person for the next 5 years before Raditz shows the hell up?! I could explore but I need to train as well!! Ugh I'll think about it after my next match
He goes up to the ring to eye up Krillin who is nervous as all hell and already powering up to his full 1,400 power. Piccolo grins as this is going to be a promising match.
