Realization
Of all that happened, one thing was as clear as crystal after the accident; it felt like a dream—or was it real? The most vivid thing I could remember went something like this—
Immediately after that, these blurred emotions dropped me into a rift, an uncanny tunnel connecting two worlds. I was engulfed with endless darkness that was suffocating. A void into which I wandered and in which slowly a feeling of being overwhelmed began to creep. It was as if someone-or something-was yelling at me, though I heard nothing.
Where am I? I couldn't understand a thing. Confusion dug down on me with its weight, and for some time, I thought I had run mad.
Immediately, a dark cloak was flung over me. Without even understanding what it was, I felt a most powerful force that would drop me to the ground from my feet. Thud. My body fell onto the ground, yet whenever I wanted to move, I couldn't. My arms were held in place by some unseen force. There were no ropes, no chains-nothing physical that pinned me down, yet I was pinned down.
A figure appeared in front of me, in the darkness. I was not able to discern any feature on his face, but something from him rang a bell in me, though I couldn't tell why. Then he broke the silence.
"Hey, Fusō, no need to be on tenterhooks like that."
I stuttered, "W-What? Who are you? Where am I?
He was not fazed by the confusion in my head. "No worries, you're on your way to another dimension, a place where girls like you become historical warships, protecting humanity from the screams rising from the bottom of the ocean."
His words took my breath away. My mind was trying to figure out what he was saying, but he continued even before I could utter a word.
"You shall become the IJN Fusō, one of the strongest flagships. But to get stronger, you will have to work hard. It won't be easy, though. but anyway, will you help protect humanity?"
I didn't manage to answer. Everything went black for me.
And now… Now, I'm here.
