I Have a Penglai Immortal Island

Chapter 007 – Fish Market Trouble

After infusing the sea cucumbers with spiritual energy, Zhao Zhao wasn't worried about them dying soon. She took out the half box of fish for retail, and thanks to the popular parrot, they quickly sold a few.

Just as she was feeling pleased, three young men approached their stall, pointing at the stack of sea cucumber boxes. One of them said to Da Linzi, "Kid, move these sea cucumbers to our car. We're buying them."

Zhao Zhao looked up and asked, "All of them? How much are you offering? If it's reasonable, we'll sell." Da Linzi tugged her sleeve, signaling her to be cautious.

These three, one with yellow hair, another with a floral tattoo, and a third wearing sunglasses in the sunset, looked suspicious. Zhao Zhao finally realized something was off. The surrounding crowd quickly dispersed, and nearby conversations hushed.

Growing up by the sea, Zhao Zhao had heard many stories about the darker side of the docks but had never encountered it herself. She knew firsthand the hardships of fishing and despised these thugs exploiting and bullying small vendors.

These scumbags needed a lesson.

Feigning reluctance to speak, she subtly passed her phone to Yaoguang, who held it with his beak.

She said, "Name your price."

The tattooed thug said, "New here, little sister? Brother buys sea cucumbers at a uniform price of 200. Weigh them quickly."

Zhao Zhao pushed Da Linzi behind her, stepped forward with a friendly demeanor, and softly said, "Brother, are you joking? Did you not see clearly? These are wild sea cucumbers. 200 won't cut it. In Chonghai, I can sell them for at least 1200. Today, it's a firm 1000. If not, we'll just pack up."

Without a word, the sunglasses-wearing thug kicked over the fish box, spilling fish everywhere. "You think you can refuse? Now I'm offering 50."

Zhao Zhao held back Da Linzi and clearly said, "Too cheap, we're not selling. Are you trying to force a deal?"

The yellow-haired thug sneered, "Where did this idiot come from? Do you even know who you're dealing with? Boss Hu is doing you a favor. If you don't shut up, it'll be 50 cents a jin."

The nearby seaweed seller quietly advised, "Girl, don't mess with them." He gestured for her to let it go.

The sunglasses-wearing thug kicked the spilled fish onto the old man's stall as a warning. The old man retreated.

Zhao Zhao frowned, "Da Linzi, call the police. They're committing robbery."

Da Linzi obediently took out his phone to call the police. The tattooed thug reached out to snatch it, cursing, "Are you an idiot? Calling the cops?! Do you believe I'll kill your whole family!" Zhao Zhao immediately grabbed his arm, pretending to pull Da Linzi away, and took the opportunity to inject an icy chill into his body. As a water spirit root cultivator, this was her most effortless technique.

The tattooed thug felt his shoulder go numb. "Damn, you little bitch, you dare hit me?" he shouted, and then collapsed to the ground, feeling a bone-chilling cold that was as painful as being pricked by needles. Seeing their friend fall, the yellow-haired thug and the guy with sunglasses charged at Zhao Zhao. With a single motion, Zhao Zhao sent both of them sprawling in front of her stall.

She sent a message to Yaoguang: "How's the angle? Is it clear?"

Yaoguang: "Perfect."

The three men writhed on the ground, wailing in pain. The dusty ground was kicked up into a cloud by their thrashing. Zhao Zhao feigned helplessness and fear, looking around frantically. "What's happening? Are they trying to extort me? Da Linzi, when are the police arriving?"

Da Linzi, equally panicked, said, "They said they'd be here soon. Is this some new trick? I've heard Tiger is pretty tough... I didn't even touch them..."

Zhao Zhao thought Da Linzi was acting even better than her, his emotion felt genuine. Her sun protection suit only exposed her eyes, hindering her performance.

She pulled Da Linzi to stand far from the three men rolling on the ground, waiting for the police.

Boss Zhao arrived before the police. Seeing him, Zhao Zhao remembered what he said when buying the golden scallops, realizing these thugs specifically targeted valuable catches. This chubby boss seemed like a decent person.

"Why are you back? Is there something wrong with the golden scallops?"

Boss Zhao didn't understand what the three men were doing, quickly replying, "No, no problem. Wild sea cucumbers are rare in Chonghai, and my friend wants them for 1000. I came back right away. Do you still have them?"

Zhao Zhao happily responded, "Yes, I still have them. I'll weigh them for you now."

"What are they doing?" Boss Zhao couldn't get close to the stall.

"Oh, they're rolling on the ground trying to extort me. I've already called the police, just waiting for them to arrive. If it weren't for that, we would've gone home already, and you wouldn't have been able to buy these sea cucumbers," Zhao Zhao said as she weighed the sea cucumbers.

Boss Zhao's eyebrows twitched. Fresh sea cucumbers are heavy, this box could weigh about two hundred jins. She lifted it as if it were a feather...

This girl is something else.

The total weight of the 26 sea cucumbers was 396 jins, amounting to 396,000 yuan. After exchanging contact details, Zhao Zhao sent her bank account number to Boss Zhao.

After receiving the bank's SMS notification, the police finally arrived. It had only been about ten minutes.

Hearing that there was a robbery at the dock's fish market, a substantial number of police officers showed up, only to find the situation already handled.

The officer in charge, a second-class police inspector, was about to step forward for questioning when five or six cursing young men appeared from the other side. The three rolling on the ground hadn't just been writhing; they had called for backup, coincidentally running into the police. As they approached, they realized there were officers, and one of them, seeing the uniforms, shouted, "What are you doing here?"

The thugs, familiar with such situations, scattered. One even said, "I'm here to buy groceries..." before running off quickly.

Zhao Zhao stepped forward to explain, "We called the police. These three tried to take my fish without paying. When refused, they kicked over my fish and have been rolling on the ground for ten minutes, trying to extort us. Luckily, we were live streaming and have it all recorded." The three on the ground kept shouting that they were beaten and in severe pain.

Zhao Zhao handed Yaoguang's phone to Officer Wang, the team leader. "See for yourself."

The live stream was still running, with seven hundred viewers watching...

There were quite a few comments on the screen, including:

【Police officers, these thugs are putting on a very exaggerated performance!】

【I can testify, they're trying to extort her】

Zhao Zhao told the viewers she would end the live stream to export the video for the police and assured them justice would be served.

In the end, since the three men couldn't specify where they were hurt and the video evidence was clear, Zhao Zhao and Da Linzi went to the station to give their statements before leaving.

By the time they finished, it was dark. They ate dinner on the island before heading back. Remembering their significant earnings today, Zhao Zhao realized their dream of a trawler was closer. Their balance was now 420,000 yuan! She immediately sent her brother a large red packet of 10,000 yuan. All the way home, Da Linzi kept grinning at his wallet balance, repeatedly asking if he really got that much. He had never had so much money before.

"Buy whatever you want. If our live stream makes money, you'll get your share too." Da Linzi quickly said, "That's enough! This is plenty. We're saving for a boat, don't give me more. I didn't even do much." Zhao Zhao ruffled his hair. "This is your pocket money. Spoiled kids get pocket money. As long as you behave, you'll always have some!"

Da Linzi's eyes grew misty in the night. Since their grandfather passed, no one had given him pocket money voluntarily.

Meanwhile, the three thugs, still complaining of pain at the police station, were sent for a full body check-up. The results, of course, showed nothing wrong. The police suspected they were faking to avoid detention. Three days later, as the icy chill dissipated, the thugs were perfectly fine, making the police even more convinced they had been faking and extended their detention.
