Chapter 109
It was all for the broadcast preparations.
Deciding to climb the rank was an impulsive decision, but starting a stream had been a long-held dream.
The connection device I had been using at home was incompatible with the broadcasting module.
I searched hard for alternatives, but the conclusion was simply that it was impossible to install at the hardware level.
On the other hand, Sigma’s equipment was compatible with the latest broadcasting modules.
I realized that I could do it now.
And now, there was someone I could ask for help.
So, I had no choice but to give it a try.
[Title: TestTestTest]
[‘Gawol’ is currently live in a private broadcast.]
[Notification: The broadcasting transmission test mode is activated.]
Elderin is a popular streamer in the current scene.
Be it games or just chatting.
With her stunning looks and good banter, her fanbase was as solid as concrete.
Thanks to that, Elderin’s broadcasts were famous for at least achieving minimal popularity, no matter what she did.
And San-sae wakes up in the afternoon to game until dawn, always having her streams on outside of sleep.
Most streamers have probably heard her nickname at least once.
She even looked like she watched more streams than I did.
“That’s really not easy… no, wait. That’s not it.”
San-sae, Kim Shin-ah, was quite well-known among freelancers.
She started in advertising, but once she gained skill, she switched to freelance.
She had built a good reputation, allowing her to choose her jobs.
As if to prove that her fame was genuine, San-sae shoved her tablet screen at me.
“I thought the theme should bring out the assassin vibe, so I made a few. Want to take a look?”
“Did you already finish everything?”
“Yep. I wanted to put some thought into it.”
The first thing she showed was the waiting screen for the broadcast.
What on earth was that scene even from?
A snow-covered coniferous forest. There was Gawol, hiding behind a wooden pillar.
With wounds all over her body, it seemed like she was in the midst of a battle. Is this the semifinals?
I must have seen Gawol countless times.
Yet, with the intent of capturing the atmosphere, it felt strangely unfamiliar.
The slight glance of her crimson eyes as she checked her surroundings.
The dagger hidden near her chest, and her hair flowing slightly in the breeze.
There was absolutely no way I could hide my joy.
It must have been a scene that had only briefly passed by.
If I hadn’t focused on watching my match, I wouldn’t even have been able to remember this moment.
Come to think of it, San-sae was the first person to tell me she was a fan.
I thought I understood just how sincere that sentiment was.
I couldn’t help but let a soft smile escape.
At that, San-sae poked my cheek with her finger.
“Were you not listening to me?”
“Ah, I… I’m sorry. I liked it so much. What did you say?”
“I asked if there was anything that needed work or seemed off. If you liked it, we should go with this. I’ll polish it a bit more and send it to you by tomorrow.”
“Yes. That sounds good. Thank you.”
All I could do was nod while grinning like a fool.
After all, feedback requires some knowledge to be meaningful.
I don’t have any knowledge about design, art, or video.
I can have thoughts like, “That’s pretty,” or “This is really amazing,” but that’s about it.
I can’t tell why this is pretty or why that feels so great compared to the others.
Rather than blundering through half-baked opinions, I preferred to leave it to the experts.
No matter how I thought about it, this was the best I could do.
Then a thought suddenly crossed my mind.
“Uh, this… How much should I pay you? You did way more work than I expected…”
“You think I’m going to charge you the usual rate? I’ll take the bare minimum, so when you get successful, don’t pretend you don’t know me.”
“Absolutely. That would never happen.”
“Oh really? Then I have one more favor to ask.”
San-sae gave me a sly smile.
The piercing in her ear seemed to sparkle somehow.
What is it? I feel a little anxious.
San-sae still looked like a predator to me.
Give me back my cute halfling bard!

Of course, it would be foolish to just turn on the broadcast right after being able to do it.
People wouldn’t even know that I was about to start streaming.
If I just barged in without warning, I’d only realize how cold and ruthless the world of internet broadcasting can be.
So the original plan was to simply write a post in the community and start from there.
No matter how you slice it, my nickname has some impact.
It would definitely serve as some promotion.
That’s not a bad method either.
But in a market like this, having more entrants is always better.
It’s right to use all means at my disposal.
In that regard, San-sae and Elderin’s suggestions were sure to be effective.
––I thought that way, but my heart couldn’t calm down easily.
“Da-eun, come here. You look so cute! Hurry!”
“This… Really, am I going out like this? No way, right?”
“Come here, lean your face this way. Want to try making a peace sign with your hand?”
“You’re not listening to a word I say.”
As the filming cameras were set up, San-sae hugged my body in the studio where the broadcast hadn’t been turned on yet.
Her soft chest touched my shoulder and made me feel embarrassed.
The left monitor was streaming the view caught by the camera.
So my figure nestled in San-sae’s arms was displayed right there.
My lips looked awkward, and my expression was bursting with embarrassment,
my face flushed bright red as well.
It seemed I always wore my emotions on my sleeve.
The source of my embarrassment was—the puppy ears on top of my head.
And the maid outfit that was half-forced onto me.
Elderin and I wore different clothing sizes, yet why was there a maid outfit that fit me perfectly?
It truly was a mystery.
I tried to take solace in the fact that Elderin was wearing one too,
but was she already a proficient professional streamer?
She took a sip of water, looking entirely unconcerned, and threw me a wink.
I don’t know.
Hiding my embarrassment? I had given up on that.
Such a thing was physically impossible.
At least I succeeded in making a peace sign as instructed by San-sae.
The corners of my lips quivered, forcing a false smile.
After a little while, click!
First a few with San-sae, then a couple more with Elderin in the mix.
I was walking the path where my embarrassing history would never be erased.
San-sae genuinely smiled brightly, as if she were truly satisfied.
Soon San-sae stepped aside, and the broadcast began.
I clenched my courage and waved my hand.
It was my turn to do the first greeting of the night.
“Uh, hello, woof woof. I’m back after a long time… Ow!”
I bit my tongue.
That hurt.

Hello.
It’s been a while since I greeted you all.
I often appeared on my sister’s broadcasts.
Many of you asked why I never turned on a stream in games.
There were reasons for that, but now I think I can do it.
This will be the first time I show my personal gameplay screen.
I plan to do rank games and will be streaming regularly until I reach rank 1.
I’ll share various assassin tips as well.
Please come and visit!

With how much trouble you’ve caused, do you really think broadcasting will go well?
You’ve acted like you’d never stream, but now that you’re out of money, you’re creeping around?
There’s nothing worse to see than this kind of thing.
Don’t come crying once you start losing too many games due to sniping,
just turn on your webcam and flop around instead!
You’re gonna disappear after the bubble bursts anyway.
I can see your future so clearly.

– True.
– Gawol: Sniping is welcome!
└ Really? I’m going in right away.
└ Can you really play in that tier though?

[Title: Gawol’s queue seems a bit suspicious, doesn’t it?]

There seem to be an unusual number of streamers being matched!
And isn’t that rifle an Eunha Collab?
It really feels like they’re all sniping right now.
If the score goes up even more, I might see pros too.

– They said they welcome sniping, didn’t they? lol
