I have an Apocalypse City

Chapter 556 - 556: Regional Tasks

Chapter 556: Chapter 556: Regional Tasks

To enter the Treasure Hall, one must pass through the underground prison. Song Jian was uncertain if this prison was still in use, so as he descended the stone steps, he moved cautiously, afraid to make a sound.

The underground prison was dim and damp. As he reached the end of the stone steps, a system prompt immediately popped up;

System: You discovered the Underground Prison and gained 100 experience points.

Song Jian entered, finding the area chaotic. In the middle of the prison was a corridor wide enough for two people to walk side by side. There were iron cages lined up along the corridors, filled with hay and some of it spilled onto the corridors.

Some of the cage doors were broken, but others were intact – and unbelievably, still housed some prisoners.

There were humans, elves, and Song Jian even spotted a Minotaur Beastman among the prisoners.

In the corridor, several half-dragon guards, wielding tridents, were patrolling back and forth.

The half-dragons had bodies like humans but heads like dragons, with long, spindle-shaped tails. They were covered in dark purple scales, giving them the appearance of wearing thick suits of armor.

Each of them held in their left hand a leash attached to a giant black wolf. These wolves, towering over humans, closely followed their half-dragon masters.

“Shadow Seat Wolf, a level 25 elite BOSS?” When Song Jian saw the attributes of these wolves, a look of surprise crossed his face.

If the combat pets were level 25 elite BOSS, how powerful were these half-dragon guards? Song Jian quickly turned to look at the half-dragons.

As expected, these half-dragons were all level 28 elite BOSS. Facing such a combination, even Song Jian felt a bit of a headache.

Just then, a half-dragon leading a Shadow Seat Wolf approached the entrance where Song Jian was. He quickly retreated up the steps.

However, he soon heard a low growl of the wolf, as if it had sensed him.

A sinking feeling filled his heart and Song Jian quickly moved backwards. Not long after, a gigantic black wolf appeared in his sight, charging at him along the stone steps.

Since the fight was inevitable, Song Jian readied himself. His Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword flickering with a dark red light, he swung it towards the oncoming wolf.

The collision caused both to grapple, and a figure of damage floated above Song Jian’s head – 160 points. Above the wolf’s head, however, there were two hundred plus points of damage.

“I can fight it. This Seat Wolf’s defense is lackluster. I should kill it before the half-dragon guard comes.” Song Jian muttered with determination, speeding up his attack.

While fighting, he retreated. Soon, the half-dragon guard rushed towards him, swinging his trident. But he couldn’t get close to Song Jian because of the wolf in front.

A sneer appeared on Song Jian’s face. He had been worried earlier about being surrounded and attacked. Now, it seemed that the spiraling staircase would lighten his burden.

A level 25 elite BOSS wasn’t too challenging for the current Song Jian. In less than three minutes, he had killed the Seat Wolf, and then he moved on to face the half-dragon guard.

Obviously, the level 28 half-dragon guard was much stronger than the wolf. The dragon scales on his body alone were far more superior than the wolf’s. His trident was also extremely sharp, and though it was less powerful than the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword, it could still inflict two to three hundred points of damage.

Broken Wing Dance!

Light Strike!

Spiritual Sword Control Technique!

Sweeping Sword Style!

Song Jian could now adeptly deploy various sword techniques he had mastered. Each move seamlessly flowed into the next, forming an incessant attack that flowed like clouds and water.

Sparks flew as Song Jian’s sword clashed with the half-dragon. Its impact on its body seemed like striking steel.

However, even the toughest steel would become scrap metal under Song Jian’s attack. Soon, he broke through the half-dragon’s defense, piercing its heart and killing it.

“Lucky me. It actually dropped a Silver Quality Dragon Scale Armor!” Picking up the loot, Song Jian smiled. His only complaint was that he killed two elite BOSS, but only the half-dragon guard dropped loot. The level 25 elite BOSS Seat Wolf dropped nothing.

This spiraling staircase was an Achilles’ heel for these half-dragon guards. By leading them over one by one, Song Jian could first kill the Seat Wolf before dealing with the half-dragon guard, avoiding the situation of being surrounded and attacked.

Thus, Song Jian lured and killed the half-dragon guards one by one. It took him more than an hour to clear the underground prison of the half-drangon guards.

The loot was good. Song Jian got three pieces of level 25 blue equipment and five pieces of level 25 green equipment. However, for silver equipment, only the first half-dragon guard dropped the Dragon Scale Armor.

Besides that, there were quite a few gray pieces of equipment. These gray equipment were of little use and could only be sold in shops. Even so, they could still fetch about three to four thousand Doomsday Coins in total.

Moreover, Song Jian’s combat experience had grown swiftly. It was now at 96%. Perhaps it won’t be long before he levels up again.

After clearing out the guards, Song Jian restored his Vitality Points and Spirit Points to their maximum, then slowly walked into the prison.

The confined prisoners wouldn’t attack Song Jian on sight, instead begging for freedom when he approached.

“Oh, chosen one, please rescue me. I’m just a pitiful person who was captured…”

“Please, save me… save me…”

“Oh Lord, my prayers have been heard. Are you here to rescue me?”

Seeing Song Jian, the prisoners became excited, gripping the thick bars of their cages and looking at him in anticipation.

Just then, Song Jian received another system prompt.

System: You’ve triggered a regional mission: liberate the imprisoned. Mission Requirement: Release the prisoners in the Dark Castle Underground prison (0/10). Rewards: 1,000 points reputation in the City of Sin, random rewards. Punishment for failure: Loss of 500 points reputation in the City of Sin.

At this point, Song Jian’s reputation in the City of Sin had dropped to ‘indifferent’ because of Solando. If he lost another 500 points, he would be on the brink of being ‘detested’, and would not be able to enter the city and could even be chased away by city guards.

After considering for a moment, Song Jian accepted the mission.

System: You have accepted a regional mission. Please kill the prison warden to obtain the keys to the cages.

Suddenly, a virtual map appeared before Song Jian’s eyes, showing the location of the prison warden. The map only lasted for five seconds, but Song Jian quickly memorized the entire map. The prison warden was in a small house next to the entrance he had come from.

Having memorized the map, a sinister smile crossed his face.

“I should have known you didn’t have any kind intentions…”
