I Joined the Sentai Heroes Who Were Beautiful Girls Other Than Me but the Heroines Were All Yanderangers

chapter 23

23. Precognition 7

I was unable to move as I sat in the break room chair, having witnessed my own death. The two of them had been so in love that they had repeated “I love you” countless times, and the room was filled with happy photos. But then, because of Akane-san, Peach changed completely and attacked me. All the while saying she loved me.

“It’s not right…”

The words that finally came out of my mouth were such a feeble emotional argument. Words that were meaningless, as I had known from the beginning. I fully understood that they were wrong, yet what came out was a sense of futility. I felt pathetic for lying desperately to survive, and the fact that I had met a bad end even after doing so made me even more despairing. Surely I loved Peach in my own way, and I had become happy and started lying to control the crazy Peach. That future me surely loved Peach properly, I feel like.

“…Shouldn’t you want to make the person you love happy?”

The countless photos on the screen, of me and Peach on dates in various places, of our lovey-dovey selfies that made me jealous even though they were of me. I deduce that things had been going well up until a certain point, and it made me feel even worse.

“Happiness is different for everyone, that’s why Peach is a hero because her form is so distorted”

The doctor’s calm, cold words hit my muddled head.

“What philanthropy and universal love, what righteous hero? Have we been idolizing such monsters all this time? Have we believed since we were children that people who have such selfish love are heroes? Hurting themselves to get the attention of the person they love, killing anyone who gets in their way, imprisoning them and forcing them to commit suicide…that’s not something a normal person would do”

My body, having said all it wanted to say, gradually warmed up, and a whirlpool of emotions swirled within me, akin to anger, regret, guilt, and futility.

“Normal, that’s what’s ordinary, Sora-kun. But it’s those who can’t maintain that normalcy who have the qualities of a hero. And they put their own lives on the line as righteous heroes and fight. Don’t speak ill of them just because their true faces are far from the ideals of the citizens. I understand your feelings, and there are indeed a few people who criticize them, but for us, being denied by you is the most painful thing.”

“…I’m sorry”

But as I tried to make excuses by saying ‘but’, the hazy feelings were swallowed up a little along with the words. It’s true, that was reckless of me just now.

No matter how abnormal heroes are, there’s no changing the fact that they have saved countless lives. It was childish of me to be disappointed with my own selfish values.

“No, it’s natural for you, the person involved, to be devastated of them. Besides, you originally fell into trouble about Philance Red, didn’t you? I can understand your confusion over the gap.”

Even so, I shouldn’t deny them. That’s what Philance Blue does.

“This time, the prediction of the future also had the meaning of shock therapy for you. You wouldn’t have understood the danger of them with just my words, and it would have taken a long time for you to decide to face them. “

The doctor operated the PC and turned off the projector screen, taking a breath and turning back to me.

“Based on the future you just saw, I want you to cooperate with me.”

Her serious expression looked a little scared.

“I understand that you’re scared. It would be a lie to say that you’re not in danger. However, we need your power in this world after all.”

“I don’t want them to become criminals because of me.”

The doctor waited nervously for me to continue after my ambiguous reply.

“I don’t want them to go crazy because of me, or for me to die, or for them to die. If I get involved with heroes, it will surely increase the risk of their hearts breaking.”

The doctor looked bitter and said nothing, looking down.

“But there’s a reason why we have to make the heroes strong, even with that risk, Doctor.”

At that question, the doctor made an unusually surprised face.

“Ah, yeah. I was going to tell you more details once I had more information, but the current heroes aren’t enough to fight the great crisis that’s coming soon.”

“Isn’t there a way to solve it peacefully, like increasing the number of members or teaching them about proper and pure love?”

The doctor answered in her usual explanatory tone, sensing that my question wasn’t meant to blame her or as an excuse to quit.

“…Listen, Sora-kun. There are few people who can fight as heroes, and the period is short. It’s not easy to find people who can easily become a fighting force. Emotions tend to be fleeting and disappear easily, and it’s extremely difficult to continue with great energy. Besides, people who can cultivate proper love through persuasion and education don’t have the qualities to be heroes in the first place. They can’t even fight properly without the uncontrollable power of love that drives them crazy. The love that yandere have is the most efficient and permanent energy that can only be generated from the human body. Without magic to manipulate people’s hearts, there’s no other way to gain enough power to stop Shadow’s evil deeds than to have people like they generate it naturally. It’s several times more effective to have you motivate one hero than to gather a hundred or so people with moderate hero potential. Isn’t that enough reason for you to be Philance Blue?”

It’s a bit embarrassing that I can’t fight as a hero, but I’m being told that I’m more needed than a hero, and I’m being asked to do it after being told everything. I don’t want to ignore Dr. Gentana’s sincere feelings, and of course I don’t want a crisis to come to this world. I’d be happy if even a few less people died, and I wouldn’t want my city to be destroyed. Even with that minimal sense of justice, it seems I can become a hero.

“I understand, Doctor. But I don’t want to be imprisoned or killed by the heroes, so please teach me how to deal with yandere properly.”

“Oh, leave that to me. I’m the woman who’s closest to the number one yandere in Japan.”

A joking laugh, kukkuk. Remembering how close Akane-san and the doctor were before, it might not be a joke after all.

“But that’s for later. You have a visitor.”

“A visitor?”

I listened closely and heard a loud noise from beyond the hidden door.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

“W-what’s that sound?”

“Well, I wonder who it is.”

When the doctor checked the surveillance camera installed in the base on the PC monitor, she saw Hakui pounding on the entrance to the computer room that led to this hidden break room, threatening to destroy it.

“Doctor, is my brother here? Hey, open up, open up, I want to see my brother, hey, Doctor, please, open up, it’s me, brother, open up, open up, please, brother.”

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

“Hmm, looks like Hakui is angry.”

“Really…”

For some reason, Hakui was wrapped in a leather belt around her neck, drooling and protesting at the door. Even if I hadn’t seen the prediction of the future just now, I would have felt nothing but terror at this sight.

“Now, here’s your first piece of advice. Listen carefully. Don’t deny the yandere, but don’t let them get away with everything either. Just make friends with them, and don’t hurt them, either physically or mentally. Of course, their minds will go wild, but physical wounds tend to become a habit. You wouldn’t want a hero with a self-harm habit, would you?”

I think there’s already someone who’s a little late when it comes to self-harm, but with the doctor’s sloppy advice in mind, I decided to leave the hidden door and meet Hakui.

Alter the future? Resist, Philance Blue!!
