I Joined the Sentai Heroes Who Were Beautiful Girls Other Than Me but the Heroines Were All Yanderangers

chapter 28

28. Nightingale and Home Cooking

“U-Uguisu-san!? Did you happen to hear what I just said?”

“No? I just got back myself.”

In Uguisu-san’s hands was an aqua-striped eco-bag, seemingly filled with ground meat and vegetables.

“Were you out shopping?”

“Yes. Since Sora-san was kind enough to come to the base, I thought it would be nice to have lunch together.”

My stomach let out a small growl at the mention of lunch. Speaking of which, it was already one o’clock. I had intended to finish my business before noon, but time had gotten away from me.

“But the supermarket I usually go to was closed, so I had to go a bit farther. I’m a little late, so I thought Sora-san might have already had lunch…”

Uguisu-san glanced at my growing stomach and smiled happily.

“I’m glad to see that you haven’t.”

“Well then, why don’t we eat together?”

“Yes, let’s.”

As I looked at Uguisu-san, her gentle eyes narrowed behind her glasses and she smiled, and the worries I had up until now seemed to fly away.

However, as she hooked the eco-bag over her elbow and took out a key from her pocket, intending to enter my room as if it were nothing, those worries came right back.

“W-Wait!”

That’s right, I had to kick Uguisu-san out of my room. I hurriedly stuck my hand between her hand holding the key and the doorknob. As a result, my much larger hand ended up enveloping Uguisu-san’s small fist in an awkward handshake , but that didn’t matter right now.

“Yes?”

Uguisu-san looked at me with a slightly flushed face, her expression one of confusion.

“Well, it’s just that, my room is a bit…”

Why was she acting like it was perfectly normal to come and go from my room? She had even made a spare key without my knowledge. The fact that she had bought groceries meant that she intended to cook in my room, didn’t it?

“The condiments and cooking utensils we’ll need today have already been brought over, though?”

When did that happen!?

“That’s not the point. I mean, this is my room, right? I didn’t think much of it before, but now that I do, I think it might be a little strange for Uguisu-san to be coming and going from my room…”

The main reason I couldn’t bring myself to kick her out like a man was because I had just seen what she was like when I acted coldly toward her. I tried desperately to find the right words, ones that would convey my meaning without hurting her feelings, all the while keeping an eye on Uguisu-san’s expression.

“Look, what if the other heroes see you? Besides, I was thinking of using this room for some personal reasons…”

“O-Other…”

Uguisu-san tilted her head as she watched me try to persuade her, sweat pouring down my face.

“It’s true that this room might be a bit small for the two of us. And I’ve heard that it’s important to have some private time.”

I braced myself for an unexpected response.

“I understand. I’ll go back to living in my own room like I used to. I’ll return the spare key, too.”

I didn’t quite understand, but she seemed to have accepted my request, and she the unfamiliar spare key in my hand.

“Then let’s have dinner in my room today.”

I had expected her to cry or get angry, but she had accepted it easily. I wanted to ask her why she had been using my room, but I decided to hold back, as I had a feeling it would only backfire.

“I’ll go back and tidy up a bit, so Sora-san, could you bring over the cooking utensils and things?”

“Y-Yes, of course. Leave it to me.”

If I could just get my personal belongings out of there, I’d finally be safe. I entered the room and gathered up the knives, frying pan, and other items. Judging from the fact that the cooking preparations had already been made, it seemed that she had intended to cook for me as soon as I returned from speaking with the doctor. I felt a little guilty for going to Himawari first, even though I hadn’t meant to. But in the end, it had worked out for the best.

“I never really thought of it as my own room, so I didn’t pay much attention to it, but this is basically just trespassing, isn’t it?”

Even people with no knowledge of yandere know about this classic form of twisted love: the stalker. They might monitor your social media, go through your trash, or in extreme cases, break into your home to steal your belongings or set up hidden cameras.

“Could it be a hidden camera…?”

Feeling uneasy, I take a quick look around the room. But since I don’t know how hidden cameras are hidden, I can’t find one just by looking around a bit. It’s probably just my anxiety, but just to be safe, I’ll refrain from doing anything too wild in this room.
