I just wanted to be a demon lord, but I was mistaken for a hero because all the girls following the hero joined my party

Chapter 6.1: Unbeknownst Hero: Wolves, Mentors, and Surprises

It took a whole day for my guild badge to be ready, but finally, I was now an official member of the guild.

Laila had informed she did her best to suggest the guild and offer me a start from C rank, but the guild insisted on assigning an F rank with a compensation. Well, if I wanted these people to help me gather information about the demon king's mentor, I would have to make them owe a lot of favor.

Kukuku, I wouldn't give up just yet you know~.

“But you can take a C rank quest if you want to. Since even Dastraian san acclaimed your strength.”

So she added later on.

Well, for my first quest, I want to go with something simple, hmm, let’s see...: ‘hunting down stray packs of wild wolf.’ huh... Let’s read more...

‘Some stray wolf-packs were causing trouble in the route which is used extensively for trade’ it seems like a good choice for starters.

The quest is classified as a C rank, which was normally beyond my level, but because of Laila it was approved easily.

“You owe me one for this *wink*.”

*shivers

Nevertheless... Hmm,

So, according to the information gathered, these wild wolves had resided themselves near the outskirts of the forest at this area. Looks like quite an easy catch.

Once I succeed and gain enough experience, I will have these folks give me exclusive missions and owe me an endless amount of favors.

~Which I would make sure they pay everything altogether one day. With interest. Kek-kek-kek.

Just imagine all the perks I would enjoy after that—

Free meals,

Unrestricted access to the all sort of libraries,

and, most importantly, a cozy bed that doesn't cost a dime, hehehehehe.

....Enough daydreaming, let’s get down to business.

[Sensō no Chi]

"Sensō no Chi," a remarkable spell; it possessed the power to track and locate specific targets as ordained, like in this case the pack of wild wolf. The skill also enabled the user to discern a target's presence and pinpoint its exact whereabouts, even if they are concealed or in motion. My Grandma was so proud when I was able to learn this from her when I was little.

Come to think of it, it was around after this incident that she started saying that I am fit to become a hero...

Well, jokes aside——

As I activated the spell, a surge of magical energy flowed through me to the ground and air, attuning my senses to the subtle vibrations of the surrounding environment. With focused intent, I directed my energy towards the area where the wolf was presumed to be. With the base set, the spell commenced, establishing a profound connection between me and the target area.

The connection allowed me the ability to perceive the wolf's emotions, actions, and motions almost perfectly, rendering me more attuned to its movements and intentions. Furthermore, a gentle luminescence light emanating from the spell, illuminated the path like a guide spirit that led me closer to my quarry.

The efficacy of "Sensō no Chi" varied depending on the user's proficiency in magic or so Grandma said. Certain results are exclusive to specific rank. At lower ranks, such as F or E, the detection capabilities might be somewhat limited and imprecise. However, as one ascended to higher ranks like B and A, the spell's accuracy and range starts expanding exponentially, even facilitating some swift maneuver and accurate target acquisition.

By the way, it seems my Grandma is at SSS rank, and I was never able to beat her. Also, in practice, she would give me a handicap and only use this spell. Sometimes I wonder, what types of spell has she accumulated in her bag...

She might be the greatest threat to me, who desires to be a Demon King.

Nevertheless, coming back employing the "Sensō no Chi" spell demanded unwavering concentration and advanced intermediate manipulation. Factors such as external magical interferences or protective barriers could influence the spell's precision. A seasoned practitioner must account for these variables while employing this tracking magic. I still remember how much I suffered in my first few days. Grandma would laugh at me without even hiding it.

Under her tutelage, I was able to extensively hone my mastery over this spell. Throughout my training in the forest, I was forced to locate animals. Be it day or night. Thus, I attained complete proficiency (obviously not to the level of my Grandma), allowing me to effortlessly track and find a target like this wolf.

"Please, save us, anyone!"

On closing in, I encountered a group of four girls huddled close together, seeking solace and protection. While an imposing figure, whom I assumed to be a really experienced evil adventurer senpai, stood on top of a tree, surrounded with the same oversized wolves doing nothing.

My curiosity piqued as I approached the scene, quietly observing their plight along with that adventurer senpai.

"Didn't you mention you brought a hero with you!?" the girl enquired, casting a glance towards the tree hosting that evil adventurer senpai.

On which that evil adventurer man replied.

"I..., uh..." or so the evil adventurer senpai responded, his voice going against any hint of doubt.

But in my mind was only one thing going on. I mean, if that evil senpai wanted, he could easily sweep those wolves clean, and yet. So Inspirational!

Yes, such thoughts went through my mind.

Overcome with such thought, an idea sparked within me — If I make those girls and that young man owe me for saving their life without even exposing attention to my true abilities. I can get the attention of that evil adventure.

I mean, HE CAN BE THE DARK MENTOR IN HIDING.

Yes, all circumstances point to this. It can’t be otherwise. Making an evil mentor owe... It must be the test to have him as a mentor. That must be it.

Utilizing only the subtle sword style [Chaos Blade], I swiftly charged onto them stealthily. Unleashing any of my hidden skill must be restrained, rather, it’s not even needed. It is a spell I had honed and perfected through countless hours of training unlike the ‘Childish Self’ which is special.

Drawing my sword, a seemingly ordinary weapon, I silently channeled my magic into it, imbuing it with a touch of unseen energy. And with calculated steps, I advanced stealthily towards the wolves that stood ahead with their menacing presence.

I was taught calculations even while I cried and said I don’t want to. Heck as if I won’t use them. I will show what it means to be a man with the knowledge of positional tactics.
