I Live Alone in the Inventory

chapter 9

Episode 9

A quiet watering hole with no one around.

Someone appeared in the middle of the mineral spring where a few simple exercise machines were placed.

It was Jung-min, who was covered in silver armor.

Jung-min held his sword and guarded his surroundings.

Soon after realizing that no one was there, Jung-min sat down on the floor.

Soon, Jung-min’s body was wrapped in light and the armor he was wearing disappeared.

“Whoa…”

Jimin sighed and his body was wet with sweat.

Jeongmin raised his sword-holding hand and looked up.

His hands were visibly shaking violently.

Jeongmin looked at his trembling hands and clenched his fists.

I could still vividly feel the feel of the sword cutting through the goblin’s body.

‘…you have to get used to it…’

Jungmin took a few deep breaths.

As the tension eased, I felt pain rising from my left arm.

“Aww…”

When I lifted my left arm, it was stained with blood right up to the sleeve.

“.. I thought it wasn’t a serious wound… but it must have been stabbed quite deeply..”

Jung-min took out a low-level potion from his inventory, opened the lid, and gently sprayed it on the wound.

Chi profit

I felt a burning sensation and a great pain came over me.

“Keuuu…”

Bubbles bubbled up at the wound site.

As I clenched my teeth and endured, the pain disappeared before I knew it and the scars were also completely gone.

“The potion’s performance… is quite good. The pain when the wound heals is a bit… I hate it… but will it be a little less painful with a high-level potion?”

Jimin got up from his seat.

The reason why Jeong-min thought of the place where he would face [The Trial of God] as the mineral water spring was because when he looked down the mountain, he could see from the downtown area to the far distance of the city at a glance.

It was only now, a day after [Trial of the Gods] began, that Jung-min was able to look down from the spring.

A sad exclamation escaped Jungmin’s mouth.

“ah….”

Jimin was unable to speak for a while.

‘It’s only… it’s only been a day…’

The appearance of the city in Jung-min’s eyes was so miserable that he could see it even from a distance.

Black smoke was coming up from here and there, and it seemed like there was even a shimmering fire.

The green clumps that linger around the city must be a group of goblins.

And in the center of that group of goblins stood a black gate.

Jeongmin bit his lip and murmured.

“D-class gates… How many are there… One, two…”

Even though I roughly counted what caught my eye, there were more than ten.

Fortunately, most of the goblins only gathered near the gate, and except for a few small groups, they didn’t seem to go beyond a certain area.

“… It must be guarding the gate…”

Jung-min looked at the shelter [Daesung].

“… Um… It seems to be quite close to one of the gates… Joon-gi, I wonder if this guy is okay..”

It wasn’t obvious from a distance, but it seemed pretty attached to one of the D-class gates.

Jungmin took out his smartphone and turned it on.

“… Fortunately, communication seems to be still alive…”

Seeing the antenna mark rise, Jung-min let out a sigh of relief.

A moment later, seeing a message arrive, Jung-min checked it.

The person who sent the message was Joon-gi.

hey are you okay I didn’t pick up the phone and left a message. There’s a gate right in front of the shelter, so we’re still fighting. Avoid well, let’s meet alive.

The time the message was sent was yesterday morning. It was a message sent after Jung-min went into the inventory after being hit in the chest by a goblin champion.

After checking the message, Jung-min tried to call Jun-gi, but only heard a voice telling him that the power was off.

“… They don’t accept it… What happened… Ayy, but it’s a place where there are so many Awoken people, so I’m going to do something special…”

Jung-min, who muttered while biting his lip, said as if he had made up his mind.

“…I’ll have a look.”

Jung-min tried to plan a route to go to the shelter [Daesung].

‘I have to go back to the road down there… There is a gate over there, so I have to go back… If I go between those buildings, I’ll be able to avoid the gate…”

I checked the location of the gate and mapped out the route, and it seemed that I could get to the shelter [Daesung] by moving about 4 times.

Jung-min opened the status window to check the remaining mana.

“Status Window”

[Jungmin Choi

Strength: 16 (+30)

Stamina: 16 (+20)

Agility: 15 (+30)

Intelligence: 11 (+10) [mp:26/38]

Holding Gold: 360 Gold

Possessed Skills: Gate (lv.1) Space Movement (lv.2) Clairvoyance (lv.1) Emotional Eye (lv.1) Strike (lv.1) Mana Recovery (P) (lv.1)

“… Huh? What is this… stats… have risen…? And… holding… gold?”

It was clearly confirmed that the stats were higher than the stats checked before the battle.

And a new looking holding gold.

Jeongmin muttered while staring at the status window.

“…Is it because I hunted goblins? Even so, the stats went up so easily… They didn’t go up that much when I worked out…”

Jung-min laughed with a dejected expression when he recalled that he worked hard to raise his stats for a month.

“Strength stat is 2, Stamina stat is 1, Intelligence stat is 1… How many goblins have I killed… I think I’ve killed quite a few… Oh, I also killed a goblin champion…”

Jeong-min, who tried to calculate, gave up and murmured.

“Well… Anyway, if you catch a monster, your stats go up, right? You can think of it as a concept like leveling up… And the gold you have… You’re going to use it at the store that’s going to open later.”

Jung-min sat back down, thinking that he should hunt as many monsters as possible.

I was thinking of moving to the shelter [Daeseong] after filling up the remaining mana.

Taking out snacks from the inventory and waiting for a quick bite, the mana was already full.

Jeongmin stood up from his seat and took a deep breath.

I didn’t bother to wear heavy armor because I was thinking of avoiding the large gathering of gates.

“Okay then… let’s go…”

Looking at the gates and recalling the planned route, Jung-min moved to the first place.

Appearing in the middle of a road in the city, Jung-min immediately moved on foot.

‘Go all the way to the mart in front of you… then move back to the direction of the intersection…’

Jeongmin’s face hardened as he looked around as he walked.

The most visible were the traces of the annihilated army.

A large number of military trucks and vehicles were destroyed, and a few destroyed tanks were also visible.

‘…Is it the result of not believing the words that modern weapons don’t work…’

All around things destroyed. The floor had a lot of stains that looked like bloodstains.

‘I can’t see anything like a corpse… should I say it’s fortunate…’

Jung-min walked past the building where the smoke was rising to the mart and used teleportation to the planned place once again.

‘Okay, that’s all right… Now just two more uses…’

Jung-min, who was walking to move to the next place, had no choice but to stop there.

“Kerreuk?!”

Five goblins appeared in front of Jeong-min.

Three of them were dragging something.

‘… I was wondering why I couldn’t see the body… but these guys took it all..!’

It was a human corpse that was being dragged by the hands of three goblins.

Jeong-min bit his lip as he looked at the dismembered corpse, no doubt how long it had been dragged around.

The goblins seemed to be wary of Jeong-min holding the sword, then threw the corpse on the ground and rushed at Jeong-min all at once.

Jung-min, who has an agility stat of over 40, easily avoided the goblins’ attacks.

‘I am the one who broke through that many goblins. It’s about five..!’

Effortlessly avoiding attacks, with each swing of the sword, the goblins spurted green blood and fell to the ground.

As the bodies of the four goblins tumbled to the ground, the other goblin hesitated and started screaming and running away.

“Kekeek!!”

Jeong-min spurred off the ground, and soon even the runaway goblin turned into a cold corpse and fell to the ground.

“… Whoa…”

Jung-min swung his sword to shake off the green blood and checked the status window.

“… My gold holdings have risen by 50.. Do I give 10 gold for each goblin I catch? Well, even after killing so many goblins and capturing the champion, the total stat increase was 4…”

Jung-min felt sorry and closed the status window.

Jeong-min walked back to the location where he had met the goblins and saw three corpses lying on the ground.

It was the corpse that the goblins were dragging around.

Jeongmin looked at the corpses for a moment and bowed his head.

‘… May you rest in peace…’

After a moment of silence, Jeong-min moved again and used space movement.

As planned, Jung-min was able to get to the shelter [Daeseong] in four space shifts.

‘Hmm… it doesn’t seem closer than the one I saw above… but it’s pretty close…’

I saw a D-class gate located about 500m away from the entrance of the shelter [Daeseong].

As expected, many goblins were roaming around the gate.

‘There’s not much tension between the shelter and the gate… doesn’t it? Is there a lull?’

Jung-min walked slowly towards the entrance of the shelter.

Two people stood at the entrance of the shelter, where the large, solid-looking iron door was tightly closed.

A tall, muscular middle-aged man and a small, muscular young man.

Spotting Jung-min approaching, the young man stretched out his hand and shouted at Jung-min.

“Please stop there. Don’t come any further. If you keep coming, we will consider you an enemy and attack you.”

Jung-min stopped and spoke to the two of them.

“Ah… Hello. That… I want to ask you something. Is that okay?”

The young man stared at the sword Jeongmin was holding for a moment, then nodded.

“I have a friend of mine in this shelter with her family… Can I hear from them by any chance?”

The young man’s expression turned cold after hearing Jungmin’s words.

“Well… that’s something I hear a lot. Why are there so many family and friends in this shelter. I have instructions”

The young man, who had been speaking sarcastically, hardened his expression and continued.

“Looks like you’re an Awakener, but don’t think about going into a shelter for any reason, just look for a small guild. How many times have I said this today…”

“Ah.. I don’t necessarily want to go inside. I just need to check on my friend.”

The young man who heard Jung-min spoke in a slightly softened voice.

“…You don’t have to go inside..?.. Really..?”

“Yes, really. I’ll go back as soon as my friend’s safety is confirmed. Is that possible…?”

In response to Jung-min’s answer, the young man spoke in a softer voice.

“.. I don’t think we know all the people in the shelter.. Tell me your name.”

“Ah. Yes! My friend is Park Joon-gi. In this shelter—”

“Park Joon-gi?”

A muscular middle-aged man who had been standing quietly behind the young man until then said in surprise.

Jung-min said to the muscular man.

“Yes. I am Park Joon-gi. Do you know?”

“Mister, do you know that name?”

The young man also looked at the muscular man and asked.

The muscular man hesitated for a moment before speaking to the younger man.

“That… ..isn’t that him… the 6th leader…”

“Ah, Captain 6… last night that…”

The muscular man nodded and spoke to Jung-min.

“That… it could be the same name… tell me what skill he uses.”

Jimin nodded and said.

“Jungi’s skill is to throw fireballs… and control the wind with his hands.. The other one is a swordsmanship skill.”

“.. He’s my friend..”

The middle-aged muscle man lowered his head and was silent for a moment before speaking to the younger man.

“Open the door. I’ll take you in.”

The young man was surprised by the muscle man’s words and said.

“You’re bringing it in? You’re going to fuck me up there?”

“Shit or not. They’re friends. You should know what you know.”

“…?”

The young man grumbled with a disgruntled face and said to the muscular man.

“Oh I don’t know. I’ll take care of it”

“I’m on good alert. If the monsters attack, I’ll sound the alarm right away.”

The young man grumbled and opened the door.

The muscular man and Jung-min entered the door that opened with a fairly loud sound, and then closed again with a loud sound.
