I Spread Pokemon All Over the World

Chapter 12 - The Attributes and Characteristics of Pokemon!

Chapter 12: The Attributes and Characteristics of Pokemon!

“Swiping the card~” With a cheerful smile, Chu Kelian didn’t show any change in her expression upon hearing the price of 250,000. She continued to gaze at the Charmander in front of her, her eyes full of excitement.

In her eyes, the price wasn’t high at all. After all, this was a dragon that could breathe fire! Well, Chu Kelian had already started treating the Charmander as a real dragon… After all, the shop owner had said that if you looked at its appearance alone, the fully grown Charmander could easily pass for a Western dragon, right?

“Why is my Squirtle cheaper than this?” After completing the transaction, Chu Kelian turned to Guxin with curiosity. She had no idea how Guxin determined the prices.

“The pricing factors for Pokémon are quite varied. If we assume equal individual talents, the price is influenced by the strength of the Pokémon itself and its rarity,” Guxin explained to the three.

“If we’re only considering rarity and potential, Miss White, your Squirtle is equivalent to this Charmander. However, Charmander has two possible Mega Evolutions in its future, which is why its price is slightly higher than that of Squirtle.”

“Moreover, if I may be frank, since our shop has just opened and we’re currently in a grand opening phase, the Pokémon sold to you three are at discounted prices.”

Guxin handed over energy cubes to Chu Kelian and Lin Sheng, each in their respective directions.

“These are energy cubes, providing high-nutrition food for your Pokémon to help them grow faster.”

“These two boxes are complimentary after purchasing a Pokémon.”

Guxin smiled at the two.

“The owner is quite generous. Oh, by the way, can I buy that Pokémon encyclopedia that Asa uses? Is it available here too?” Chu Kelian asked curiously, glancing at the energy cubes before turning to Guxin.

That Pokémon encyclopedia was really handy.

“Of course, the Pokémon encyclopedia is five hundred each. Would Mr. Lin like one as well?” Guxin replied with a smile.

“I’ll take one too. And give me ten boxes of these energy cubes for now,” Lin Sheng nodded.

Upon opening one box, he noticed that Six-Tails seemed to really enjoy these energy cubes.

“Very well.”

Guxin handed each of them a Pokémon encyclopedia and packed ten boxes of energy cubes for Lin Sheng.

“With that, your purchases are complete. But I still have plenty of questions for you, Boss,” Chu Kelian blinked her eyes and turned to Guxin, observing the little Charmander gleefully munching on the energy cubes with its tiny claws.

“There aren’t any other customers right now, and I have plenty of time at the moment. Do you have any doubts, my dear?” Guxin chuckled, knowing that the three likely had many questions.

“For example, attributes, abilities, and moves, what are those?” After a moment’s thought, Chu Kelian decided to start with the simpler questions.

“Is this what Miss White and Mr. Lin are curious about too?” Guxin glanced at Bai Qianqian and Lin Sheng.

Both nodded.

“Pokémon, short for ‘Pocket Monsters,’ is the collective term I use for these mystical creatures. They can live on grassy plains, in the ocean, deserts, or rocky areas.”

“These Pokémon also possess various attributes, which you can think of as the elements they control. These attributes allow them to use corresponding powers and moves.”

“Such as fire, lightning, water, ground, rock, and so on.”

“Of course, this is just a rough overview. In reality, apart from their natural attributes, Pokémon can also learn moves from other attributes as they grow.”

Guxin’s voice was warm and clear as he explained in detail to the three. After all, these were the first three Trainers in this world!

Well, it was a pity that Lin Sheng wasn’t a “Garlic King Tortoise.”

“Ah, well…” Lin Sheng was taken aback. Pets with elemental powers? Isn’t that like the magical creatures from those otherworldly novels and anime? This was beyond amazing!

“Um… Is this really like a pet?” Bai Qianqian was also stunned by Guxin’s words. This was practically supernatural power. And could such beings really be considered pets?

“It all depends on how you perceive pets, doesn’t it?” Guxin neither confirmed nor denied, replying with a question for Bai Qianqian.

“Pets are companions and friends of humans, and Pokémon are the same. It’s just that Pokémon are somewhat more unique compared to what people traditionally think of as pets.”

“Yeah, that’s… quite a lot…” Bai Qianqian lowered her head to see her Squirtle playfully chasing its own tail in circles.

“What about abilities?” On the other hand, Chu Kelian was intrigued and couldn’t wait to ask Guxin.

“Abilities are individual traits of each Pokémon. Each Pokémon’s ability can be different.”

“For example, your Charmander has the Solar Power ability, which is extremely rare among Charmander. Solar Power increases its special attack during clear weather, but it loses a fixed amount of health every turn.”

“However, among Charmander, the typical ability is Blaze. It significantly boosts the power of its fire-type moves when its health is low.”

Guxin explained to Chu Kelian.

“My Charmander is quite special, huh?” Chu Kelian’s eyes lit up, and she smiled brightly. Her little red lizard was indeed exceptional!

“Emmm…” Bai Qianqian blinked. Her Squirtle had the Torrent ability, which seemed to have almost the same effect as Charmander’s Blaze. The only difference was that Charmander’s was for fire-type moves while Squirtle’s was for water-type moves.

“But these abilities and attributes feel like…” Lin Sheng furrowed his brows. Though it sounded fantastical, he could probably accept it. However, if attributes, moves, and so-called abilities were all focused on battles, it felt… like they existed solely for combat?

“Just as you’re sensing. Therefore, in the future, I’ll be introducing a brand-new activity.” Guxin’s lips curled up slightly as he spoke slowly to the three.

“Pokémon battles!”
