chapter 18
18 – Proof 7
The undead disappear, leaving only a heap of ashes.
After confirming that the situation has been resolved, Naomi and Bernie immediately head towards where their master is.
“Are you okay?”
“No problem. He wasn’t that strong to begin with.”
“So, is it all over now? Let’s go back quickly. Honestly, it’s getting tough to stay here.”
Bernie approaches me cautiously, showing a tired face, along with those words.
Seeing her like that, I think about how much she must have struggled, and I try to pat her head.
That moment.
“Ah…”
“! Ma… Master!”
Suddenly, my master’s body tilts towards me, stumbling.
Instinctively, I reach out my hand and catch her falling body.
Immediately afterward, I feel a slightly solid sensation.
Though it may sound strange to say this, my master’s body, which is definitely smaller and slimmer than Bernie’s, feels completely different in many ways.
The arm I’m holding tightly and the thigh underneath,
And even the large chest that unintentionally ends up being supported.
The warm and tender sensation coming from this remarkable body, along with the sweet fragrance.
Distracted for a moment by all of that, I find myself holding my master’s body within a feeling similar to that of a stiff stone statue.
At that moment,
“Ah, uhh…”
“Hmm?”
“….”
Bernier leaning his body against my opposite shoulder.
Immediately after, I could see the slightly stern expression of the master’s eyes.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m also tired. Not as much as the master, but I consumed quite a bit of magic power coming all the way here, so I’m feeling exhausted.”
“Tired? Well then, come over here. As a master, I can support my disciple at least to some extent.”
With those words, the master made a gesture as if he suddenly regained strength,
But Bernier slowly shook his head in response.
“It’s alright. The master is also tired, so it’s not necessary. Here, I will borrow the still energetic shoulders of Edmund.”
“This guy…”
“Well, do you have any complaints?”
In an instant, the two of them emitted a tense atmosphere reminiscent of what we had witnessed in the guild before.
Feeling puzzled about why these two always end up like this, I tried to calm them down for now.
And then…
“…”
“…hmm…”
The two suddenly stopped their exchange and turned their gaze away.
Following their line of sight, their attention was directed towards me, who was also on guard.
Their gaze started shifting towards the Valkyrie members approaching us with weapons in hand.
*
“Indeed… we defeated them.”
“As expected, they were quite formidable. It was good to be cautious from above.”
The three individuals who completely wiped out Arkritch and his subordinates.
Observing them, the three women of Valkyrie decided to proceed with their plan.
Honestly, I had hoped that Arkritch would take care of those guys without the need for them to intervene,
But from my initial perspective, it didn’t seem like the situation would go smoothly given their strength.
And this thought,
Seeing Arklich looking weaker than expected compared to the rumors only solidified their confidence. They had exchanged blows several times, but in the end, Taie, who had failed to become Rosetta’s nemesis, lost his life miserably. But at least he had helped with Rosetta’s task, so they didn’t consider him completely useless. Rosetta and her student were leaning on the demons as if exhausted at the moment. No matter how much of a formidable opponent the other side may be, in such a weakened state, they wouldn’t be able to fight against them any longer. “It’s a good thing. If I hadn’t taken care of her myself, I wouldn’t have been able to release my anger.” “Don’t let your guard down. Even if they’ve exhausted their strength, they may be a formidable opponent.” “It doesn’t matter what they look like when they’re in such a weak state. That’s their defeat.” “The demon in the middle still looks vigorous. I’ll take care of him. You guys handle the rest.” “Got it, leader. Then, as I said, I’ll take care of that red witch.” “We’ll take care of the student. I’ll help you finish quickly.” So the four of them immediately drew their weapons after making the decision. At that moment, they straightened their postures as they struggled. It seemed that they had noticed that this side was preparing for battle. However, it was already too late to change anything. “The battle is over, but do you have something else to do?” “The hunting is not over yet, we have to step in again.” Sigurun said, smiling brightly. In response, Rosetta spoke with a cold smile. “Oh… hunting. Are you trying to catch something else for those who have been watching all along?” “Well… of course…” With those words, Sigurun aimed the dagger he was holding. There was a distinct liveliness in the strange magical power contained within. “It’s these three arrogant girls.” “…Hoo…” Rosetta sighed heavily at her words. Then she quietly said to the demon next to her, as if to complain.
“This scene … Am I the only one who feels familiar?”
“The same goes for me. Are all authors the same when it comes to decorating their stories like this?”
“What happened?”
“There is something that happened. Anyway…”
With those words, the demon began to give a cold gaze.
“If things go like this, we can’t just sit still.”
Seeing him express clear hostility unlike before, the Valkyries immediately heightened their guard.
At that moment,
-Kurululung
“…huh?”
“…What…what’s going on?”
The mansion suddenly started shaking.
In an uneasy situation, the Valkyrie members and even the Rosetta party began to show confusion.
“This is also déjà vu…”
“Sigh…”
“Isn’t…isn’t this going to collapse? What do we do now?”
The apprentice spoke urgently.
At that moment,
-Kwagwang!!!
A huge explosion occurred behind them.
Enormous magic began to spew out from where Arkritch had been sitting earlier as the foundation exploded.
Black magic with a chilly feeling.
It ate away at the inside of the mansion like poison and quickly expanded its area in this direction.
“I thought there was no way Arkritch could make such a place… Now that I see it, he was just a byproduct.”
“It doesn’t seem like the time to analyze the situation. If we don’t run away quickly…”
-Thack!
“…huh?”
Rosetta lightly dropped the staff she was holding on the ground at that moment.
Immediately after that, a magic circle began to form under her feet.
The golden magic circle enclosing the three people.
The moment she understood what it meant,
She…
Freya hurriedly started reciting an incantation.
“Well then, we’ll take our leave. Survive on your own.”
“! These… children!”
With those words, Rosetta and her group began to disappear along with the shimmering light.
The Valkyrie members felt as if they had been struck from behind when the teleportation magic was activated in an instant.
At that moment,
“That won’t do!”
“!”
A beam of light extended from Freya’s body.
It intertwined with the magic circle created by Rosetta, like threads in a fruit.
And then…
“You…”
“Heehee…”
Freya smiled for the first time.
Simultaneously, the bodies of the Valkyrie members were also enveloped by the same shimmering light.
– *Pop!*
The people vanished from the room.
The mansion, now empty except for remnants of undead beings, dissolved entirely under the influence of dark magic.
*
“…These wretched creatures…”
Rosary spoke with a cold voice.
At this moment, no other disciples could be seen around her.
Originally, the teleportation magic could only transport a few people to one place.
However, at the last moment, interference from that woman called Freya caused her magic to scatter the people across different locations due to the overflow of power.
Although they might not be too far apart, the group ended up being separated.
And now,
Before her eyes, instead of the disciple she desired, she saw the figure of someone who made a scowling impression just by looking at them.
“This is… But I guess I’m not unlucky, right? Even so, I wanted to defeat you with my own hands for about four years.”
Assassin Sigrun spoke in a determined voice.
Drawing her short sword, she immediately assumed a combat stance.
“After seeing that level of strength, you still think you can fight back?”
“Hehe, yes, indeed, you are strong. Normally, it would have been impossible for me to dare to challenge you. But did you see it earlier? Your struggle against the Demon Tribe for four years.”
“…Huh?”
“Even if you’re an intimidating lion, you’ll be torn apart by a wolf when your strength is depleted. Just wait, I will personally tear your throat apart.”
“…Ah…”
Sigrun confidently spoke while gripping the dagger in reverse.
Observing her, Rosemary began to express an indescribable expression.
