Chapter 87: Epilogue
It’s been about five years since I graduated from Leavrov Academy.
I’ve been a full-fledged princess for nearly four years now.
As usual, it’s just me, Alex, Charlotte, and Prince Eamon in the office we share.
I’m taking a break from work to chat with Charlotte.
She takes a sip of her tea and my name is called.
“Ariana.”
“Yes, Charlotte.”
“I think I said the same thing to you the other day, but why don’t you restrain yourself a little bit?”
“Restrain?”
“Yes, I really need you to exercise some restraint.”
“If you’re suddenly telling me to restrain myself, what do you mean…ah.”
I was about to repeat what Charlotte had said to me when I felt a weak vibration inside of me, like something was moving.
“Did you hear that, Charlotte, that just thumped in my stomach!”
“…….”
“With Vincent, I felt the baby move for the first time after 4 months, but with this baby, it was a month earlier! I wonder if this baby will grow up to be a strong baby like Alex.”
“That’s it, that’s it!”
“Hmm?!”
Charlotte shouted at me out of nowhere, and I couldn’t help but stop and stare in surprise.
“Oh, that’s a surprise. The baby almost fell…”
“Nuh, some of us have been struggling with not having kids for years already.”
“…….”
“Well, Eamon and I have been trying night after night, do you know how many kids you’ve had in five years?!”
“Well, that’s because….”
First, I had a son, Cayenne, half a year after I graduated from the Academy. Then I had a daughter, Cecilia, the year after that.
Then twin sisters, Naylin and Kaylin. Then there’s Vincent, the fifth, and the baby on the way….
“… In about half a year, there will be six.”
“You and your fiancé. Why don’t you get a little restrained and start planning your family?”
“Ha, but the palace has plenty of servants, so no matter how many children we have, we won’t run out of hands to take care of them. Alex said he won’t take a second wife, so if I don’t give birth to many….”
“There’s such a thing as too much!”
“…….”
But I can’t help it.
Call it a penalty for my inexperience with magic, but Alex and I are restricted to never being more than ten meters away from each other.
We bathe together and sleep together. It’s bound to happen from time to time.
At graduation, it was a big deal.
I had to attend the graduation ceremony with a six-month pregnant belly because the relationship we had on the first night was too strong.
It was winter, so I managed to hide it with thick clothes.
Of course, within a few months of graduating from the academy, news broke that I had given birth, so I was practically outed.
“Calm down, Charlotte. I’m sure Charlotte will hear the good news sooner or later.”
“A pregnancy genius like Ariana has no idea how I feel!”
“Hey, pregnancy genius….”
“And you’re stuck with your fiancé 24/7, I only see Eamon half the week because of his business trips!”
“Well, it’s hard for Alex to travel out of the country, so Prince Eamon has to do the hard work….”
“Then at least don’t do it in front of me, do you know how frustrating it is every time I see him in the same office as me?!”
…I thought I was sneaking under my desk to do it undetected.
Apparently I’ve been caught a few times.
Well, Charlotte used to flirt with Prince Eamon behind our backs at the Academy, so I guess you could say the tables have turned.
“Calm down, Miss Charlotte. I’ll talk to Eamon and get him to cut down on his travels.”
“…….”
“Or I’ll make sure to adjust my schedule to allow Miss Charlotte to accompany him on business trips from now on, and that will be fine?”
“…Okay.”
In the end, her intense emotions were barely mediated by Alex, who stepped in between me and Charlotte.
-Ding.
Two knocks came from outside the door.
“Sister, are you busy?”
It was Kael’s voice, the one I hadn’t seen in a while.
“You can come in, Kael.”
As soon as I motioned for him to come in, the door to the office opened and Kael, who had been away recently assisting someone else with their work, stepped in.
In his hand, he held a purple vial of what I assumed was Sophia’s new product.
“I’m here to deliver the finished product of Sophia’s potion.”
“What do you mean, the finished product? Because she’s got more than one thing in the works right now.”
“Well, first of all, I’m not sure, but Sofia said that if I said ‘a potion that grants someone’s wish,’ you’d know what it is.”
“Ah, that’s it. Good timing.”
Seeing that the prototype was finally complete, I took the vial from Kael’s hand and quickly placed it in Charlotte’s hand.
“Take this, Charlotte.”
“…What is this?”
“It’s something that will probably solve your problem, Charlotte.”
“…By my troubles, do you mean not having children?”
“What else could it be?”
It’s an item I’ve been working on since I realized that Charlotte and Prince Eamon have been unable to conceive a child for some time, and that the cause of their infertility lies with Charlotte.
It’s taken a bit of time due to the constraints of being as safe as possible, but she’s somehow managed to concoct a ‘fertility potion’ that will hopefully cure Charlotte infertility.
I’m sure it’ll work.
I was involved in the development of the potion, helping with clinical trials a few times. The children of my last experiment are twin sisters, Naylin and Kaylin.
“Charlotte’s next ovulation is in a week, right? Eamon will be back from his business trip in three days, so the timing is perfect.”
“Ah, Ariana….”
“Make sure you take it an hour before you have sex, and I’ll be rooting for you to succeed this time.”
“Ariana, you’re the only friend I have after all!”
Saying that, I saw Charlotte clasping my hand and looking genuinely happy, which gave me a little bit of satisfaction for my part in the development.
“Sister, since we have a finished product, there’s something I’d like to talk to you about.”
“Tell me about it.”
“I don’t mind if you force me, but I’m wondering if you could cut Sophia’s hours a little bit, because I’m afraid she’s really going to collapse from all this work.”
Well, she’s a workaholic to begin with.
Her husband, Kael, is understandably concerned.
“I thought you said you liked the fact that she’s so dedicated to her work.”
“Well, I guess there’s a fine line, right? She’s been sleeping only two hours a night for days now, so how can I not be worried?”
“Two, two hours…?! You, her husband, are supposed to take care of her, Kael, and what are you going to do if she collapses from exhaustion?”
“Wouldn’t I have told her, but she insists on making as many things as you ask for anyway, and won’t listen to me.”
“I’m asking you to do something about it since you listen to your older sister well.”
“…Okay. I’ll tell her to rest for a while, even if it means forcing her to rest for a while today.”
Now that he’s telling me that she’s pushing herself as hard as she was when she was a solo developer, I realize that I can’t let her workaholism go unchecked.
“I’ll be sure to ask her to do that, sis.”
“Sure. I’ve got a cabinet meeting with Natalia in a few minutes, so as soon as I’m done with that, I’ll head straight to her lab….”
I give Kael an affirmative response and wrap up the conversation.
Suddenly, the door to the office burst open and a little girl rushed into the room.
“Mommy, mommy, mommy, I made it!”
“Cecilia?”
I asked my first daughter, Cecilia, who ran excitedly toward me.
“Cecilia, I told you we weren’t supposed to come in when Daddy and Mommy are at work!”
That was our oldest son, Cayenne, running in after her to catch up.
It hadn’t been that long ago that both of them had been sucking milk.
Now they’re big enough to be called toddlers, and it really does make you realize how fast kids grow up.
“I’m sorry, mom. I didn’t take care of Cecilia again….”
“It’s okay, Cayenne. I was on break.”
It’s obviously impossible for Cayenne to keep an eye on Cecilia, who’s already started shooting all sorts of magic at people since last year.
I told him to keep an eye on Cecilia because she’d calm down a bit when he was around.
I’m not exactly asking him to be responsible, so that’s fine.
“So, Cecilia, what’s so important that you have to tell your busy mother that you have to come here so urgently?”
“I just succeeded in a new magic trick, and I wanted to show my mom first!”
“Okay, okay. Can you show me what kind of magic it is?”
Well, we already know she has a talent for fire and water magic. That probably means she can manipulate something from the other four elements.
That’s what I thought, and I didn’t think much of it.
“…Huh?”
A small gasp escaped my lips as soon as I saw the black magic in Cecilia’s hand.
“I’m just like my mom now!”
“…….”
Apparently, the power of my dark magic power was destined to be passed on to her in the future.
“Yes, that’s wonderful, Cecilia.”
“Isn’t it?! I’ve always only learned magic lessons from my dad or uncle, but now I can learn from my mom too!”
“Now, wait a minute, Cecilia, if you leave that unstable mass of magic alone…!”
As Cecilia, overjoyed by my praise, rushed into my arms, the dark sphere that had left her hand fell to the floor of the office.
The unstable dark magic immediately sent a strong gust of wind through the office as soon as it hit the floor.
The papers I had spent three hours organizing were flung across the room.
The teapot and teacups on the table shattered as they hit the floor as well.
“Oh, I made a mistake….”
“Cecilia….”
A deep sigh escaped my lips as I looked at Cecilia, scratching her head and smiling innocently.
I just can’t figure out who she took after to become such a tomboy.
