chapter 11
11 – 11. The Golden Sun Becomes a Piggy Bank.
“Ah…”
As soon as I returned to the dormitory, I jumped onto the bed with a bag of candy in my hand.
The warm sensation enveloped my whole body, easing the complicated emotions that were lingering in my mind.
I don’t know why she talks about the subject of the Golden Sun as if it’s something sincere that confuses people.
Looking at the events of Lucia in the novel, even if she accepts a confession, she will surely play with it a few more times and then discard it.
“…She’s such a bad girl.”
I muttered those words for no reason.
As I stared at the bag of candy, the implication she subtly emphasized earlier came to mind again.
Although I ate the lemon candy just because I was in a bad mood, the scent of lemon overlapped with Lucia’s, making my head even more dizzy.
“I should quit eating sweets.”
If there’s already a hint, all you have to do is avoid the source.
I’m not particularly fond of sweets, so if I don’t eat what she mentioned, that’s fine.
“She’s not going to make me eat everything, right?”
No, with her wickedness, there’s a good chance she might.
The idea that I might have to contemplate something every time I eat.
Just thinking about it is horrifying; from now on, I must never eat what she gives me.
…Except for lemon candies.
“But didn’t I declare something like a friendship breakup?”
Because I didn’t like it, let’s keep our distance from each other.
I remember saying something like that on the last day at the middle school academy.
In reality, the message “No matter the circumstances, let’s never meet again, you crazy girl” was implicit in that statement.
“Does Heidi really dislike me that much?”
What Lucia is doing is a determined act of trying to get even with Heidi one way or another.
Despite the potential damage to her own image and the author’s image, she persists in such behavior.
“Was cursing her from the beginning a mistake?”
Until then, it was just casual talk; after confessing and hurling insults, it’s as if she’s showing more interest in me. She acts as if she doesn’t care whether I accept or reject her confession.
“Where is the point of interest in my drunken behavior?”
I have never shown any signs of liking her or given ambiguous signals.
Looking at the actions I have taken towards her so far, insults, personal attacks, frequent snubs…
Normally, shouldn’t this lead to disdain and distance?
“…I don’t know.”
Whatever else, this problem seems unlikely to have a clear answer at this moment.
Whether it’s about self-esteem or one’s beliefs, I wonder if I’ve crossed a line somehow.
One thing is for sure: I will never succumb to someone like Gyeom Taeyang.
“Ugh, let’s think about something else. Don’t think about that guy.”
To think that I would be agonizing in my room, beaten by Gyeom Taeyang. I can’t stand to see it.
I slapped my cheek a few times and then placed the candy bag in a less noticeable spot before slowly reconsidering what I needed to do.
“For now, I’ve crossed one big mountain.”
At first, I hoped that Heidi and the other main characters would all end up in Class A without a hitch.
Therefore, some of the men who are trying to approach Heidi can, to some extent, coNT*Rol themselves within my guideline.
‘Of course, that won’t be easy.’
At least it will be much better than when Jack was in Class B.
Nigel left to find his wife, and the prince must have been helpless and placed in Class E. At least two people have been eliminated.
‘I hope the classes stay fixed like this.’
Unfortunately, the classes of the academy students are subject to change due to exams such as midterms and finals.
Perhaps the prince can return to his original position in Class A after taking the exam twice.
‘I am a little worried about meeting the prince again in the future..’
The character who is most obsessed with Heidi in this novel is the prince.
Even if that person briefly leaves the protagonist’s side, it still frustrates me.
Well, it’s a future matter. I just have to come up with a plan and be thoroughly prepared.
For now, what I need to think about is not the distant future, but tomorrow.
‘Tomorrow is the start of a new semester at the academy, the eNT*Rance ceremony.’
After assigning classes based on the results of the competition and announcing them individually, we will assign dormitories accordingly.
It will be a day like the opening of Hellgate, where all the major episodes start.
On the day of the eNT*Rance ceremony, the start of the new semester, there are two things I need to prepare for before tomorrow.
‘But first, I should leave now before it gets too late.’
Because there is a place I need to visit to prepare for the eNT*Rance ceremony before it’s too late.
I struggled to get up from the creaky bed and hurriedly went out of the dormitory, urging my steps quietly.
‘Where was I thinking up to..’
And I resumed the interrupted thought.
‘Ah, there was someone I needed to find as soon as possible, by tomorrow.’
The character who was referred to as the protagonist’s inhibitor in the novel, the relatively normal one.
Gracen, who only obsesses over the ‘memory’ he shares with Heidi and loves her without inflicting any harm on her body.
‘Honestly, I don’t particularly like this guy because he has a stalker-like tendency.’
There are also those who want to confine Heidi, use her, or eat her.
Among those crazy people, stalking is probably the mildest.
‘And above all, he can at least communicate properly.’
Unlike the crazy protagonists who completely ignore what others say when the obsession switch is turned on.
Grayson is still a somewhat communicative guy, and his excellent emotional coNT*Rol means that there is no chance of the obsession switch being turned on.
He is the kind of guy who wouldn’t pose a threat even if he stuck to Heidi.
‘And on the day of the admission ceremony, which is tomorrow, another attack is about to happen.’
It’s a very old cliché, everyone knows that someone always messes things up on the day of the academy admission ceremony, right?
Anyway, I have to somehow prevent the attack that will take place on the day of the admission ceremony, which is expected to go as common sense dictates.
‘And this is why I have to find Grayson, who is not in the academy, in the early stages of the original story.’
The main forces that will prevent the attack during the admission ceremony are the Crown Prince, the Saint, and Nyhill, who disguises his identity after the terrorist incident and joins Class A of the academy.
However, since I sent Nyhill to Pandemonium after initially preventing the terrorist attack, a major force is now missing.
Moreover, the Crown Prince, who takes up a large part of the force, is currently injured and unable to participate in full-scale combat.
And to fill the gap left by these two people, Grayson is the one needed.
‘Wait a moment, now that I think about it..’
In the original story, I remember that the day of the admission ceremony, including the attack that took place then, was postponed for about a week due to the train attack.
After thinking for a moment, I came to the conclusion that there shouldn’t be any major issues.
‘Because the criteria for their plan is not the date, but the event called the admission ceremony.’
Honestly, I’d love to catch them right now because I know exactly who they are and where they are.
But the attack on this year’s admission ceremony is just the beginning for them to prepare their groundwork.
Those guys are not the ones who should be killed at this point in the story.
In my current state, I can’t possibly handle them at their level.
‘Of course, unless it’s a head-on confrontation?’
Because they have limitations, they plant informants in the academy instead of acting directly themselves.
Fighting them head-on is impossible, but it may be possible to block or manipulate the information they receive.
Since I’m going out anyway, it would be good to take care of such matters in advance for the progress of the subsequent episodes.
Perhaps the scale of the attack that will happen on the day of the admission ceremony can also be somewhat reduced.
‘Anyway, what I need now is Grayson..’
Grayson is not currently in the academy.
If he was in the academy, there would be no need for me to make an effort to bring him here.
‘Grayson is probably in the black market by now.’
He doesn’t remember his origins, age, or any information about himself.
Apart from his name and basic knowledge necessary for survival, he doesn’t remember anything else.
In that state, he is sold as a worker in the black market and is sent to different places every day.
It can be seen as a kind of rental service that uses people as commodities in the shadow market.
“Of course, there’s no good work to be done in the shadow market.”
Starting from simple misdeeds to even killing people, they take on all sorts of dirty tasks as if they were machines, the so-called “workers” sold in the shadow market.
“And now, my role is to buy one of those workers.”
But naturally, buying instead of just renting costs many times more money.
From the perspective of an academy student, it’s quite a burden and a lot of money.
This story applies even if Grayson isn’t a well-known worker in the shadow market.
“So, what should I do then?”
I used to think about saving up a lot of money to buy Grayson no matter what.
I did consider emptying my pockets just in case, but my thinking changed a bit.
“There’s someone taking an abnormal interest in me, to put it differently.”
In other words, I came up with a way to dramatically reduce the money I would need to buy Grayson.
Unconsciously, I arrived at the door of the person I needed to find.
“Who is it?”
A familiar female voice echoed from inside.
-Creak…
The door soon opened, and from within, Lucia, wearing a very fluffy rabbit-themed pajama, jumped out.
“Jack? Why are you here?”
Today, I plan to use the wealthy author Youngae as my piggy bank to the extent that it might raise suspicions.
The sorrow of spending money will surely be halved if shared with someone else.
