chapter 98
98 . Outrage
I’ve seen it before when I came with Leon, but the road I’m walking now feels different. My heart was beating faster than ever before, and I felt like my blood was boiling. The mind of a child who received a new toy? Or something more than that wrapped around my body. I hope that the children walking with me feel the same way, I feel like that.
As I moved along with various emotions, I came to the door leading to the throne before I knew it, and I stood in front of it to catch my breath. My only blood relative, the only one left in the world.
I swallowed my saliva and pushed the door with my hand. Unlike before, the door opened smoothly without any sound. Even the building seemed to welcome the true owner.
The scenery in front of me has not changed much from before.
Only the emotions filling my heart were different. There is not the demon king who threatens mankind, but the younger brother I always had to protect. It was within reach if I stretched out my hand. You don’t have to go further.
I cautiously moved to the place where the throne was.
With every step you take, all your senses are on edge. When I finally reached the front of the throne, I had no choice but to collapse in front of the waves of emotions that surged so strongly that I couldn’t handle it. Kneeling, a sob began to erupt from the depths of his chest.
Tears dripped to the floor every time my shoulders moved. The hatred for myself that I had forgotten all this time and the pity for my younger brother mixed together, and the feelings that had begun to burst showed no sign of stopping easily.
If the children hadn’t comforted me with a gentle stroke on my back from time to time, I would have been delirious for a while. After sitting on the floor for 30 minutes and bursting into tears, I barely calmed down my swollen face, then got up and looked at my brother’s face.
Everything the child made, such as facial expressions and gestures, came to me clearly, to the extent that the time I had forgotten was colorless. It was even more pity that the appearance of a teenager remained as it was, as if it had stopped growing while being bullied by the church.
Her younger brother sat down on the throne and fell asleep, just like he always did when he slept. Seeing with her own eyes her brother, who had been sacrificed due to the selfishness of her humans, her anger toward the humans that overshadowed her delight in her flared up again.
I wanted to send Stella and Elia and other children right away to give eternal pain that never ends even if they die to everyone who planned and put this into action. It couldn’t have just ended with death.
Elia, as if reading my thoughts, carefully held her hand and smiled.
“I know what Dad is thinking. Don’t worry, they can’t die in peace.”
“Then it’s fortunate.”
If it were my personality in the past, I wouldn’t have been able to understand what they were doing. But now it was more like what I wanted. Do we really need humans in this world?
It is possible to destroy this world and recreate it if you wish. In fact, I had such power, and there were four gods who supported me.
It seemed like the world starting over with me, my brother, and the kids wouldn’t be too bad.
Once I thought about this later, I glanced at Elia.
She walked past me to see if she knew what I was thinking and came in front of her my sister.
Elia studied my brother’s face, caressed his cheek, and smiled bashfully.
“It’s cute because he resembles his father.”
To be honest, there were times when I was worried at first. They absolutely hated meeting other women other than themselves. What if it applies even if it is a family? Could it be a curse? It is true that I have become stronger, but the root of that strength has always been children. Even if I killed my sister out of jealousy, I couldn’t stop them. I imagined the worst situation like that, but when it came to reality, the children liked their little brother much more than I thought.
Stella leaned on my shoulder and answered my negative thoughts.
“There’s no way you’d hate it for being your father’s younger brother, right?”
As soon as I heard that, the anxiety I had felt all this time disappeared in an instant. Then there is nothing left to worry about.
I calmly watched Elia remove the spell from my sister… It was only then that I realized that I was missing the most important thing.
Why didn’t anyone wonder? Why don’t even the children say anything about this?
‘Why….’
Why can’t I remember the name?
I have never called her sister’s name before. It was just an ambiguous title given to him as a younger brother.
Are you not calling your brother’s name at the moment of the reunion you’ve been longing for? This was something weird
Doesn’t the children know something about this problem? After all, aren’t they transcendental beings called gods?
I opened my mouth in a voice so clear that Stella, who was next to me, and Elia, who was casting her magic on her brother, could hear.
“Wait a minute.”
At my call, the children simultaneously turned their heads.
Noah tilted his head and raised his first question. There was no reason for me to stop them in this situation, so their questions were legitimate.
“Why?”
“Something is strange.”
When I mentioned that I was strange, Elia stopped casting her magic and immediately ran to me.
They asked me one question after another with worried faces.
“Huh? What’s wrong with dad what’s weird Are you doing it because you care about the guys outside? Shall I just go and kill him now?”
Elia said something eerie, different from her worried face, but that wasn’t the real problem. If, as she said, Leon or Cassandra and other people outside were concerned about this, I would have taken care of it with my own hands a long time ago. The problem I felt now was not such a trivial one.
I couldn’t manage my expression properly, and I opened my mouth slowly, wiping the sticky cold sweat on my forehead with a hard face.
“I can’t remember the name.”
Have you heard me say Stella’s name is short? He asked back, then gave a surprised expression.
“That is a big deal.”
The rest of the children were making the same expression. Was the mere name not coming to mind such a big problem? I thought it was a problem they could easily solve.
Looking at Elia, the most knowledgeable person on this side, she shook her head in embarrassment.
“It’s not that easy.”
Has anyone ever said that it’s not an easy problem out of their mouths? It was the first time that these girls, who always maintained a confident attitude and had the ability to actually act, were in trouble. As I didn’t say anything, just making a questioning face, Elia slowly began to explain.
“The disappearance of a name is a bigger problem than I thought. That person’s existence itself is no different from erasing the existence while tying it to reality. The names given to everything in this world contain much more meaning than humans think. To the extent that even gods other than us have to reveal their names in order to use their original power.”
“Dad, think about it. Did we ever say our real names?”
At that, she was dazed as if her head had been hit with a hammer. Even those who have no rivals in this world, when dealing with Cassandra and other troublesome guys, have spit out their names in order to use their original power. Of course, even then, as if being interrupted by something, I remembered what came out in a language I couldn’t understand at all.
Stella said as I put on an expression of belated realization.
“That’s what being forgotten by people is like. Even if it were just us right now, if Dad had given us the name as a gift that day and didn’t collect it, it would have been forgotten and completely annihilated. It’s not as simple as you think, is it? I don’t know how these guys used this magic, but we can’t solve it either.”
“Then how….”
Stella touched my shoulder gently and spoke in a correspondingly warm voice.
“But the answer is simpler than you think. Just like Daddy did for us, he just needs to give this kid a name.”
Give me a name? Could such a simple thing really eliminate the discomfort I felt?
If I can forget the past name and make a fresh start with a new name, I will do so.
As Elia’s problem was sorted out, she smiled slightly and went back to her sister again to cast the magic she hadn’t been able to do yet again, and Stella Noah and I watched the scene slightly apart.
“Do you have a name in mind?”
I shook my head and answered Noah’s question.
“No, I have to think about that from now on. If you have any other good ideas, let me know too.”
After I finished speaking, I looked around the castle again. Only small, dusty dolls placed around the throne seemed to soothe his brother’s loneliness in this desolate space.
To leave a child alone in a space like this and set it up as a symbol of evil. Boa began to rise again, but it was time to end all that anger. Promising that I would never be taken away by humans again, I turned my gaze back to Elia’s work, which was nearing completion.
“Almost now….”
Just before Elia’s words that it’s almost over, her door is thrown open violently, and something shoots at her.
With a flash of red, the sword was shot straight at my brother, and before I could react, Stella grabbed hold of it and glared fiercely in the direction the sword had come from.
“You hit the back of the head in such a dirty way, even though your father didn’t finish it clearly because he thought of old friendships?”
At the place where the door opened, a bloody Leon stood there breathing heavily.
I couldn’t understand. Aside from reappearing, Leon’s attack just now was clearly directed at my brother.
If Stella hadn’t stopped it, by now….
I got goosebumps all over my body.
When I thought that I had been able to take away the happiness I had barely found, an incomparably greater anger dominated my body.
Yes, if dying is your wish, you should grant it.
I stopped Stella and Noah from stepping out instead, and faced Leon again.
