I was Kicked Out of the Hunter’s Guild

Chapter 2 - Global Notification

The 28th Hunter Guild.

It was a promising guild with 200 members, including four elite S-class hunters and numerous A and B-class hunters. It was an organization at the forefront of humanity’s war against the Abyss.

Nestled deep within the living quarters of the Hunter Guild was a luxurious executive room that resembled the interior of a royal palace.

But within its opulent walls, my head buried in a mountain of paperwork, was filled with nothing but curses.

‘Fuck my life…’

My name is Lee Jinhyun, and I am the adjutant of the 28th Hunter Guild.

This was my job and the reason I was stuck here doing this soul-crushing work.

As an adjutant, my original duties were clear and straightforward –

To Analyze the Abyss, whose forms and tactics evolved daily. Devise strategies to counter them.

Monitor the battlefield and provide tactical support to the hunters.

That was my official role here.

Having previously served on the frontlines in the military, I had a sense of duty and pride in protecting humanity, which fueled my duty.

But the problem wasn’t the work itself, it was the people that had stuck to me like gum ever since I was a soldier and was hired as an adjutant of the Hunter Guild.

More specifically, them.

“Jinhyun, go grab me a coffee, will you? And I’ll repeat it, if you bring me that instant crap like last time, I’m going to throw it in your face. Oh, and for dinner, I’m in the mood for something spicy. Get me tteokbokki. The kind you made last time was pretty good.”

“…Ha…”

I let out a deep sigh as I listened to her casual tone as if giving orders to a servant, all while she added a joking remark about dinner.

Choi Yujin was sitting on the executive office’s plush sofa.

An S-class hunter, known as the “Death God of the Battlefield.” With her long blue hair, stunning beauty that radiated a mature charm, and a voluptuous figure, she looked every bit of a goddess admired by millions.

But that goddess was currently doing her nails, lazily barking commands at me with an arrogant air.

Before the coffee had even finished brewing, another voice chimed in behind me.

“Hey, Adjutant! My shoulders are killing me from slicing through the Abyss today. Come give me a massage. And let me be clear, this is a privilege! I’m graciously allowing an ugly commoner like you to touch this noble body, so you’d better proceed with great care and gratitude!”

Look at that bitch commandin’ me like she’s some kind of queen.

The one making this ridiculous demand was Seo Jiyoon, another S-class hunter.

With her red hair tied in twin pigtails and a petite frame, she looked more like a mischievous younger sibling than the fearsome warrior she was. If you ignored her personality, she could almost be considered cute.

Her nickname was the “Blade of Annihilation,” a self-proclaimed title she loved to flaunt.

Watching her smirk as I brewed coffee for Choi Yujin, I swallowed my frustration and answered as politely as I could.

“Um… I’m a bit behind on work right now, so maybe a little later-”

“Work? Seriously? What’s more important, your paperwork or me relaxing? I’ll give you one minute to get over here. And if you make me wait, I swear I’ll stab your palm with a needle, just like last time.”

‘Are you kidding me?! This work is literally about keeping you alive on the battlefield!’

The urge to shout those words rose in my throat, but I forced it back down.

After three years of working with these lunatics, I knew better. Seo Jiyoon wasn’t someone you could reason with.

Choi Yujin might joke around and give you a hard time, but at least she had a sliver of humanity. Jiyoon, on the other hand, was a crazy psychopathic bitch who genuinely enjoyed pulling stunts like stabbing someone for irritating her.

Arguing with her would only make my life worse.

So, after making the coffee, I approached Seo Jiyoon and began to massage her shoulders.

“Mm… yeah, that’s it… a little harder… Ah, as expected of our adjutant, you really know your way around a massage… Ha-yahhh…”

Jiyoon let out an unnecessary string of erotic moans, each more suggestive than the last.

Some people might envy my position, getting to touch a beautiful woman’s body while listening to her soft erotic groans.

But for me? I was on the verge of snapping. All I could think about was getting back to my desk to finish the tactical plans for the upcoming operation.

‘At this rate, I’ll be pulling another all-nighter… Damn it, I’m not even halfway done yet!’

My mental exhaustion was reaching its limit as I continued massaging the shoulders of this deranged woman.

And just as I thought things couldn’t get any worse, yet another voice cut through the room, this time laced with irritation.

“Hey, Jinhyun! Didn’t I tell you to wash my underwear in advance? Do you know how annoying it is to walk around in a bloody bra?!”

“Ha…”

A loud, whiny voice echoed through the room, grating and persistent, like a baby bird crying out for food in a crowded nest.

Hearing it, I instinctively let out another sigh.

Moments later, as if to drive the final nail into my mental coffin, the door burst open, and another familiar face stomped inside.

“Hey! Can’t you hear me, you bastard?! I told you to get your ass here, right now! What the hell are you still doing in there?!”

This time, it was Na Jiseon.

A bitch with her bright orange ponytail swaying behind her, her face was twisted with fury.

The S-class hunter barged in like an angry locomotive, steam practically shooting out of her ears.

But I already knew the real reason for her explosive anger, and it sure as hell wasn’t laundry.

‘This bitch probably lost her Ranked Game again…’

Na Jiseon was the very definition of an anger management disaster.

Her main hobby outside of missions was gaming. Whenever she wasn’t slicing through Abyss monsters, she was parked in front of her computer, furiously clicking away.

The reason for this hobby was simple: when something went wrong in the game, she couldn’t control her rage. If she got tilted, she’d smash everything in sight, monitors, keyboards, mice, you name it.

And if wrecking her gear didn’t satisfy her tantrum, she’d unleash her fury on the people around her.

Specifically, on me.

But today, there was a new variable in play, another lunatic who wasn’t about to tolerate Jiseon’s nonsense.

Seo Jiyoon, who had been groaning in pleasure from the massage I was reluctantly giving her, suddenly turned cold. Her voice dropped as she snapped at the intruder.

“Hey, can you shut the hell up for a minute? Can’t you see your unnie is getting a massage?”

“Unnie? Don’t make me laugh, you crazy bitch! Hey, Lee Jinhyun! Stop whatever the hell you’re doing and go wash my damn laundry first! I’m already about to lose it, so don’t push me!”

Jiseon’s words lit a fire in Jiyoon’s eyes. Slowly, she pushed me aside and rose to her feet, her aura radiating cold, murderous intent.

“Do you want to die today? What did you just call me, huh? I’ve been letting you off easy for a while now, and now you think you can climb on top of me?!”

Jiseon, in turn, didn’t back down an inch. Her already fiery temper ignited into a full-on inferno.

“Fine! Bring it on! Let’s settle this once and for all. I’ll tear you apart today, you bitch!”

“Oh, you’re welcome to try, brat. Let’s see what you’ve got!”

And just like that, the two lunatics lunged at each other, screaming and clawing like wild animals.

Though they weren’t armed with their usual weapons, they didn’t need them. They immediately grabbed each other’s hair and started pulling, scratching, and yelling insults loud enough to wake the dead.

Watching the madness unfold, Choi Yujin, the most sane person in the room, took a slow sip from the coffee I’d just brewed for her. Her calm demeanor made the whole scene feel even more absurd.

In some twisted way, I suppose I could think of this as a case of “one crazy bitch defending another crazy bitch.” But regardless of how it looked, the reality remained the same.

At the end of all this chaos, it would be me who’d have to clean up the mess.

I’d be the one to rearrange the furniture and replace anything they smashed. Dispose of the wreckage they created. And worst of all, if either of them got injured, I’d have to write yet another apology letter to HQ, explaining why I’d “failed to properly manage interpersonal conflicts among S-class hunters.”

“This was my life.”

On the battlefield, these lunatics were unstoppable warriors. They were feared by the Abyss, praised by the world as humanity’s saviors, and idolized by countless people.

But here, in the guild, these same “saviors” were tormenting me like a pair of alley cats tormenting a trapped mouse.

These were the so-called Hunters, the heroes hailed as humanity’s last hope.

And what about me?

I was the poor bastard stuck with the reality of their impossible personalities.

So yet again, I spent another exhausting day being physically and mentally drained by their antics. As always, it was capped off with the “bonus” of returning to my desk to finish the stack of overdue work, unable to rest even after the chaos was over.

‘Haa… Seriously… I want to punch someone.’

For the past four years, my life has been a repeating loop of misery.

From dealing with their ridiculous personal grooming needs to managing their idol-like schedules, I carried the weight of everything that came with being the adjutant of an S-class Hunter Guild.

The thought of quitting crossed my mind more times than I could count.

But why was I still here, enduring this crap?

There were two reasons. The pay at 5 million won a month wasn’t bad, even if the job was hell.

The system, retiring, or even requesting discharge, was practically impossible for someone in my position.

In wartime, every single body was considered a valuable resource. Applying for discharge required navigating a labyrinth of red tape, proving a “valid reason,” and enduring all the bureaucratic nonsense that came with it.

Even worse, if word got out that I was trying to leave, the hunters would make sure to make my life an even greater nightmare than it already was.

So here I was, stuck in this never-ending cycle of suffering.

Sighing, I looked back to the mountain of papers on my desk.

‘After this operation, I swear, I’m taking a damn vacation. No matter what.’

***

But then, everything changed.

“What… what did you just say?”

I stared at her, my face frozen in disbelief.

In front of me stood Isena, the Guild Master of the 28th Hunter Guild. With her golden hair and sharp brown eyes, she exuded an air of authority, further enhanced by her cold demeanor.

However, the words she’d just spoken hit me like a thunderclap.

“Did you not hear me?” she repeated, chillingly composed. “Lee Jinhyun, you’re being discharged. You are Fired. You don’t need to come to the guild anymore starting tomorrow.”

For a moment, I thought she was joking.

But as I stared at the document in her hand, the truth became undeniable.

It was an official expulsion notice, complete with the Guild Master’s seal.

Looking at my name written on the paper, my mind went blank.

Once the Guild Master’s seal was stamped, the notice carried full legal weight. It was a protected document, meaning there was almost no way to overturn it.

This wasn’t a prank.

This was real.

“W-wait… Why? At least tell me why this is happening!” I stammered, my voice filled with panic.

Isena stared at me, her expression as indifferent as ever.

“As you may know, the 28th Guild has recently been promoted. Because of this, we now have access to greater resources and support from higher authorities.”

“What… what does that have to do with me?” I asked, my voice trembling.

“Wouldn’t that mean things would improve for the guild? Why am I being let go?”

Her cold eyes regarded me like I was a piece of trash.

“Unfortunately, the scale of support we’re receiving now includes resources we didn’t have before, such as official managers provided by the government. From now on, our guild members’ schedules, operational planning, and logistics will all be handled by professionals from the upper ranks. In other words, we no longer have any need for your… ‘services.’”

Her words hit me like a dagger to the chest.

“You can’t be serious…” I whispered, struggling to process what she was saying.

Isena’s gaze grew sharper like she was looking at an insect.

“To put it simply,” she said, “what we need now are combat-capable personnel. And you, Lee Jinhyun, are no longer needed in this guild.”

Her words were final, like the slamming of a coffin lid.

She delivered the finishing blow with an icy smile.

“As a parting gesture, I’ve made sure your severance pay is generous. It should be enough to support you for a while. Consider it compensation for your… hard work over the years. But don’t show your face around here again.”

And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, stunned and silent.

***

I stood there for a long time, my mind blank and my body frozen.

And then, after she disappeared from my view…

A sound erupted from my throat.

“Aijaa!!! I’m finally discharged!!!”

Pure, unbridled joy surged through me.
