Character Introduction 1

From the official website of “Break the Chain of Sorrow” (a trial version scam).

“I know, right? That’s my good friend! We’re really compatible, aren’t we?”

Hideyori Akeshi (あけちひでより)

The protagonist Takeru Jūmonji’s childhood friend and friend.

He is usually a carefree and unscrupulous guy, but when the situation calls for it, he has a strong sense of justice.

He likes women and is surrounded by various girls, but in reality, he is in a relationship with Sakaki Emi and always cares for her deeply.

“Sakaki Emi and I are bound together by the red thread of fate.”

Sakaki Emi (ささきえみ)

Hideyori Akeshi’s childhood friend and girlfriend.

She has a young and innocent face, and is often treated like a little sister by her classmates.

She understands the womanizing side of Hideyori, but since she knows that she can rely on him in the end, she is tolerant towards him.

She is a woman with a sense of security.

Excerpt from the “Visual Fanbook of Breaking the Chains of Sorrow”.

“Takeru, I’ve despised you from the very beginning. That’s why I’ve always wished for your misfortune ever since we were kids.”

Akechi Hidetaka

Harboring ill will towards the gift Takeru possesses unconsciously, he has been stalking him since childhood.

He finds perverse pleasure in thoroughly sabotaging Takeru’s relationships, a true deviant.

While he usually hides behind a frivolous facade, his true nature is despicable, vile, and utterly ruthless.

The gift of “Command Domination” is a power far too dangerous for someone like him to wield.

With high physical abilities and sharp intellect, he’s a troublesome man to have as an enemy but a reliable ally.

Despite his unpopularity among users, the game wouldn’t stand without him.

“Eh, wait… Why…?”

Sasaki Emi

As Akechi Hidetaka’s girlfriend, their relationship was influenced by the gift of “Command Domination,” devoid of any real emotional connection.

Her role as the beloved, sisterly figure among classmates was merely a means to exploit the heroine’s vulnerabilities.

Due to Hidetaka’s whims, she dies in every route, without reason.

A character with a sympathetic background, yet she stirs trouble for the heroine, resulting in her unpopularity among users.

There were plans to make her the heroine of the sequel, but the overwhelming hate from users might lead to its cancellation (laughs).

She’s a troublesome character for the production team to handle.

Among the female staff, it seems many find Emi more difficult to deal with than Hidetaka.

Character Introduction from the main story of Scumbag Chronicles

Akechi Hidetaka

He finds more joy in portraying the game’s main character than the reincarnated protagonist’s personality.

His name is inspired by the author’s favorite warlords, Akechi Mitsuhide and Toyotomi Hideyori.

The series started with the genre of the villainous nobleman’s male counterpart, the evil best friend.

The role of the scummy and despicable best friend is based on the character Daiki Ito from the game Rebellions, as revealed by the author on Twitter.

He’s eager to reach the main timeline of the game.

Sasaki Emi

Her commoner’s name was chosen with the awareness that she’s a side character in the game.

In “Breaking the Chains of Sorrow,” she’s treated mercilessly, but if the main story is decent, it proves the “safe if sane” theory.

Whether she’s the main heroine of Scumbag Chronicles is unclear, but she might become involved in the future…

There are so many heroines I want to write about, so I’ll serialize with a sense of speed.

Even in the game descriptions, they will appear as characters designed to garner hate.

It’s quite a feeling of immorality when you see their unfortunate and happy states side by side…

On the author’s Twitter, you can find image visuals created with Custom Cast.

You can either jump from the author’s page or search for the title name on Twitter, and you’ll probably find it.

Uncle

Somehow, I was unconsciously or consciously channeling Teppei from Higurashi…

Even in the main story of Scumbag, it’s not a straightforward happy ending, but a twisted family that exists because of gifts. I like the unease that adds to this work.

He may not have much screen time, but it’s certainly better than how he’s treated in the main story.

Aunt

She’s an incompetent aunt, but she does care for Hideyori in her own way.

In the main game, the uncle was supposed to die, and the aunt was supposed to survive, but due to Hideyori and Emi’s rampage, she met an unfortunate exit…

Originally, she was watching how Emi was treated and suspected Hideyori might have some kind of gift, but she was too scared to speak up and didn’t interfere.

And that’s the mess she got for interfering.

I hope they get along a little better in the main story of Scumbag.
