Chapter 111
Children of Canaan
When Hull actually does a slime hunt to show them, they are originally scholastic skin pharmacists. When Shaw learned that the first thing he did when doing slime exorcism was observing slime and studying safe distances, he began to say he wanted to try it from scratch, too.
When that happens, it is Edgar who is not convinced. I guess I felt that not only the effort Edgar had made so far, but also the effort Shaw and Hull had made would be wasted.
“So what do you think our time is?”
“Edgar.”
Shaw stopped Edgar in a quiet voice when he was about to get angry.
“I know. I know how Edgar feels. But at least it moved. It might take a little extra time, but as it turns out, I think we’re in a good shape to convince ourselves.”
“I know.”
I guess I’m not emotionally convinced.
Once in research mode, the feeling of being challenged with a cute girl seemed to fade, and I was impressed that even that Charlie was looking for a decent slime to face.
But what Shaw has been concerned about since just now are the children of the town who are looking at us in faraway windings. I was winding it up far, but I stopped closer and closer.
A stranger comes all of a sudden and gives us instructions to do our job. I can imagine that it would have been a hassle for children who had ever been free to play, and that they would have rebelled immediately.
But now adults, that’s also professional pharmacists, must have come out to see how they were doing, realizing they seemed to be herbicizing themselves.
“Deep Forest. This is the time I’m studying in church.”
I called a pharmacist in the morning to start the activity, so it is only before lunch.
“If you’re about to study and calculate the letters, you can probably do the big ones by now. Until you’re 14 and start moving as an apprentice, we’re all pretty relaxed. Some kids help themselves in the morning.”
“Huh? That, Rick?
“I don’t have to go studying anymore, but they say kids play with each other, and they force me to go a few days a week.”
Rick’s face said he really wanted to run around the wasteland with Cyrus every day.
“Speaking of which, I was told in Deep Forest that I would raise them so that they could settle on the land until I was 20. Cyrus is right, yeah.”
The town north of the Deep Forest has many children who become hunters, and I guess the plains have a serene way of doing things on the plains, as rigorous training is incorporated as a play.
“Well, then I guess I’d rather go to church than be here, so I’m going back to church once. I don’t mind picking herbs on our premises or around them at all. But that’s all you need to be aware of, because there are cows.”
Cyrus saw Shaw and Hull handle the pharmacists well and went back to reassuring. As an adult who expressed just a little healing power, he’s expected to be an example to everyone.
“The pharmacists are great. I knew it was different when adults were serious.”
“It would be obvious. It’s an adult job in the first place.”
Shaw looked back in surprise. The children who had been wrapped up in far-flung windows had been right beside us at some point.
“Rick, I didn’t think you’d see it for a while, but you were back”
“Oh. I was able to fall in love with a line of mentors in the town of Ampha.”
“Hmm. Deep forest, huh?”
Around the same age as Rick, the boy turned to Shaw and Hull after looking at Edgar more like he made a fool of himself.
“You guys, it’s a face I don’t see. I don’t know what Edgar’s up to.”
“Huh?”
I was also going to get used to brunette plain boys because they taught the boys how to pick medicinal herbs in the town of Ampha, but I’ve never seen one of these dull boys before. Decent folded trousers, shirt and vest. The slightly longer hair is nicely done.
Well, I can’t say I have a neat face. I think I’m weak. This is Shaw’s feeling.
If you look closely, there was a similar group of boys around the boy, but as many girls. Half of the girls had eyes on Edgar, but half watched Shaw and Hull. To be precise, I was looking at Shaw and Hal’s clothes with glittering eyes.
Child of the town.
Those words came to mind, and Shaw laughed softly. Being a commuter by train every day in the city means I don’t think of myself as a town kid right now. I think it’s getting rough.
I didn’t laugh about the boy, but the boy looked annoyed.
“You,”
“Garsh, you’re rude. This is the first girl I’ve ever met.”
Rick whispered that the boy was about to say something.
“Rick, you”
“Shaw, Hal. This kid is Garsh. I’m the oldest in the youth group right now, and I’m doing something like a compiler. Then this is Delilah. Likewise, it feels like a girl summariser”
He introduced me to men and women together so that Rick wouldn’t be a hassle.
“All you have to do is get to know each other because there’s a lot of people. Then Shaw and Hal, these kids from Deep Forest. Shaw is a healer, swordsman. Hal is a magician who graduated from college and is also a healer. It’s the same young group as us, but my mentor’s giving me the job. I’m glad you’re close.”
Listening to the way Rik said it, it seemed that Rik was not the leader, but he could have a strong voice among the children.
“From the deep forest? ‘Cause you guys, the color of your hair, it’s black.”
“With me!
Rick interrupted again.
“Me and my hometown are together. I just got flown into the deep woods and the lake swamp because of circumstances.”
“With Rick? Then maybe the family.”
Delilah and the child she was introduced to asked worryingly, so Shaw and Hal shook their heads beside each other.
“My family’s gone, but now I’m with my adoptive parents, and they take good care of me.”
“Me too.”
“You’re great.”
Delilah grinned. Good. At least we’re going to get along with the girl. Although a child named Delilah quickly figured it out to me, many of them knew nothing about Rick’s circumstances, so rather the children began to bother by listening to Rick’s hometown.
“Rick introduced me, and Hal and I are in charge of teaching herb collection and slime hunting. Right now, I’m experiencing it for all the pharmacists, why don’t we all do it?
I asked the software as much as possible. But the kids don’t think it’s what they do in the first place, so confusion stands first.
“Didn’t your father and mother tell you to teach me how to hunt because lizards and slimes come out on farmland?
Everybody shakes their heads. I want you to be thorough from there first.
“No, they say you shouldn’t do anything dangerous. When you see the slime, you can’t come near me.”
Even in the youth group, a relatively small child said so. That’s right. Shaw looked difficult and put his arms together. It’s too high a hurdle to tell these kids to hunt for slime right now. Then let’s attack from a different angle.
“Really? So, do any of these kids like spring weed picking?
Some of them raised their hands.
“Unlike spring grass, the herb can be picked at any time, and you’ll be very happy to take it to the pharmacist, and besides, it’s a penny.”
There are also a few kids who have shown a great deal of interest in a place called Cash. Maybe I can do this. Where Shaw thought so, he got in the way.
“Wait a minute, you. Was it Shaw? What right are you and trying to get Canaan children to do a lot of things?
It was Garsh watching as he put his arms together and looked down at this one. Edgar shook his head behind him saying, “Oh man, Rick knew it.” Well, I don’t think Shaw can help it if he thinks he’s doing something about it.
