chapter 15
15 – Tardiness
The morning of the student council members starts earlier than other students. They start preparing a few hours earlier than the regular students.
“Hey, you’re a freshman, right? Dress code violation, that’s a demerit of 1 point.”
And the prepared student leaders checked the attire of the students at the entrance of the academy.
Usually, only a few student leaders who did not live in the dormitory needed to be checked, so there were only about two student leaders at the entrance. But now, there were more than twenty student leaders at the entrance.
There were three reasons for this.
“I gained too much weight after going home for the vacation.”
“Me too. No matter how much my parents fed me, there was no separate dining hall.”
“When I went home, my parents had moved without telling me.”
“Ahahahaha, have you heard about this? The new students this time are so formidable.”
“Hey, but we’re seniors, so we must be stronger.”
The first reason was that students who had gone home for the vacation were returning today.
“Wow, now we’re really going to the academy.”
“What’s the big deal about going? Don’t you remember the entrance ceremony day?”
“Right. If we mess up, we’ll be expelled right away.”
The second reason was that new students would start attending from today.
“Wow…”
“Hey, look over there. Is that senior the one?”
“Yeah, that’s her. Senior Johanna Freyja.”
“… She’s beautiful.”
The last reason was Johanna. The students entering the academy were captivated by Johanna’s appearance, stopping in their tracks.
Unlike other student leaders standing, Johanna was sitting in a chair.
Except for the student leaders checking the attire of other students, the rest of the student leaders around Johanna kept talking.
“Yohanna, is everything alright?”
“Should I bring a better chair for you?”
“We also have some snacks here.”
“The weather hasn’t warmed up yet. Should I bring a blanket for you?”
The reason why the student council members revered Yohanna so intensely was not only to flatter her, nor was it because Yohanna’s family was of noble descent.
“Excuse me, Yohanna Freya. I am a novelist—”
“If you’re a freshman, go to your class quickly.”
A male freshman tried to talk to Yohanna, but other student council members blocked his way.
It was clear that if it wasn’t for Yohanna’s face, it was because of her family that he was approaching her like one of the trash.
The student council had two distinctive characteristics. One, all members were female. And two, they were all Yohanna’s fans.
In reality, it was more like Yohanna’s fan club than a student council.
In fact, this morning when Yohanna said she would be at the entrance of the academy, all the student council members said they would be there too.
But since it was impractical for all of them to be there, only the 20 members chosen by drawing lots were allowed to accompany Yohanna for the dress check.
Yohanna, feeling uncomfortable sitting alone, finally spoke up.
“Is there anything I can help with?”
“No, Yohanna, you don’t have to do any work!”
“That’s right! Just by sitting here, Yohanna gives us so much strength.”
The student council members even went as far as bringing a chair for Yohanna to rest more comfortably.
Yohanna, sitting in her chair, looked at the academy students entering with a cold gaze.
The students entering the academy were excited when Yohanna looked at them, but she only glanced at them once as if she was looking for someone, then immediately turned her head away.
“Is there someone you’re looking for?”
The student council member who was looking at the scene asked Yo-hanna.
“Yeah.”
Yo-hanna replied briefly, still watching the incoming students. Surprised by Yo-hanna’s answer, the student continued with the question, trying to conceal their surprise.
“Is it a guy?”
As soon as the question was finished, other student council members around waited for Yo-hanna to speak.
“Yeah.”
When Yo-hanna said the person they were looking for was a guy, the surrounding student council members whispered and chatted among themselves.
“Gasp! Did you hear? Yo-hanna is waiting for a guy!”
“When did they meet, anyway?”
“Since you’ve been asking, why don’t you ask what kind of person he is?”
After hearing the other students’ words, the student who had been asking Yo-hanna questions tremulously asked Yo-hanna with a trembling voice.
“Um… What kind of person is the one you’re waiting for, Yo-hanna?”
In response to the student council member’s question, Yo-hanna recalled Loki.
How could Yo-hanna describe Loki?
He couldn’t simply say he was a new student at the academy.
He wasn’t just an ordinary new student.
He couldn’t say he was a strong person either.
There was someone stronger than him.
Therefore, Yo-hanna pondered how to describe Loki, when he remembered what Loki had said.
‘Unusual people are good, but if possible, please remember me as a special person.’
When Loki heard those words, he said that he laughed, but he couldn’t believe it.
He hadn’t felt and expressed emotions strongly since he was young. He never particularly wanted anything, and he didn’t pay much attention when people who acted friendly in front of him talked about him behind his back.
When he wielded a sword, he felt a sense of accomplishment and a bit of joy, but it didn’t make him laugh.
However, Loki said he laughed twice while talking to him. Just because his emotional changes weren’t big didn’t mean he didn’t feel emotions.
But when he did feel or express emotions, he was aware of his actions.
However, the laughter that came out during his conversation with Loki was natural and unconscious.
At first, he just thought he was an unusual person, but now he sincerely thought this way.
“A special person.”
It was a little early in the morning, and it had been a short time since spring had begun, so the chilly wind blew, making Yohanna’s cheeks turn red. Perhaps because of her fair skin, her blushing cheeks stood out more.
But to the eyes of the track team students, it looked like her cheeks turned red out of embarrassment.
“Oh my, oh my.”
“No matter how you look at it, it’s that, right?”
“What kind of person is he, anyway?”
The track team students stared at the students coming in like Yohanna. They wanted to see who the special person for Yohanna was.
.
.
But Loki didn’t show up until the time for school had passed.
Yohanna looked sullen and her expression became even more expressionless when Loki didn’t show up, even though it was a small change that others wouldn’t notice, it wasn’t just an ordinary person here.
The members of the leadership club had been watching over Johanna as fans for a year. They could sense her disappointment.
“Johanna might have arrived at school before me!”
“Yeah! That must be it!”
The leadership club members comforted Johanna. At that moment, as she listened to their words, Johanna really thought that Rocky had arrived at school before her.
“Seniors of the leadership club, you work hard from early morning.”
“Yeah… ··· · What?”
A student casually walked past the leadership club members. They didn’t even notice how natural it was.
They only realized something was odd after the student had walked quite a distance.
“Who are you!”
As the leadership club member rushed forward to grab the late student’s shoulder,
Just before their hand touched the shoulder, the late student disappeared.
The vanished student was standing behind the leadership club member who was about to grab their shoulder.
“Draw your swords, everyone!”
When the suspicious third-year leadership club member spoke, all the members drew their swords from their waists with a swish.
“Reveal your identity!”
Although he was wearing the academy uniform, the suspicious mask, red cloak, and even the recent movement made everything about the masked figure seem suspicious.
All the leadership club members kept their swords drawn, observing the masked figure. Tension filled the air, and they swallowed hard.
“Eek! I surrender! I surrender!”
The masked figure raised both hands in surrender. The suspicion that had just filled the air vanished, leaving only a sense of defeat.
The masked figure, Rocky, was bewildered.
At first, I thought I could naturally pass by without attracting attention.
In reality, I succeeded in passing by so naturally.
However, the moment the student from the leadership team called out.
I sensed being caught and just tried to take the penalty.
But the moment the hand of the leadership team student was about to touch my shoulder, my body moved involuntarily.
It was because the sharpened senses developed during the fight with the emperor hadn’t adapted yet.
Surrendering to the leadership team students like that, while looking around, I spotted a familiar face.
“Oh! Senior Johanna?”
When Loki looked at Johanna, the leadership team students focused on Loki.
“Senior, hello!”
Even in the midst of being surrounded, Loki shook hands with Johanna and greeted her.
The leadership team students thought that Johanna would ignore greetings from such a suspicious person.
However, contrary to their expectations, Johanna timidly raised her hand and greeted with a shake.
“Hello.”
As Johanna used her hand to greet, the leadership team students looked at Loki with thoughts like, “Could it be him?”
Meanwhile, Loki felt the intense gazes of the leadership team students.
‘Could it be that these people fell for me at first sight?’
