chapter 31
31 – Dispute 5
On the way to the research lab with Professor Idra, she suddenly spoke.
“Hmm, are you using me?”
If she were Professor Idra, she would know that I had avoided Arshen Kingdom students waiting for me by using her.
Despite being used, Professor Idra seemed not at all upset; in fact, she appeared rather pleased.
“Using me? What nonsense is that between us? Honestly, Professor Idra, don’t you want to know how I enhance my magic tools as soon as possible?”
If I were held captive by Arshen Kingdom students, Professor Idra would also learn how to enhance magic tools a bit later.
“So, that’s the problem. It’s something we should scold sternly, but since I can’t scold you, it’s even more of a problem.”
Honestly, if I had requested help from Professor Idra in a straightforward manner, she would have willingly assisted.
In the first place, even without Professor Idra’s help, it was easy to escape from the students waiting for me.
“As soon as I open this door, it’s my research lab! How about it, Loki student? Excited? I’ll let Loki student open the door especially.”
Nevertheless, the reason I asked Professor Idra for help was to engage in a conversation with her.
“I’m really nervous that I can open Professor Idra’s research lab door.”
I grabbed the doorknob with exaggeratedly trembling hands. Seeing my hands shake excessively, Professor Idra chuckled.
I opened the door to Professor Idra’s research lab and walked inside.
“Ta-da! This is my research lab!”
Contrary to my expectations, Professor Idra’s research lab was neatly organized.
“Loki student, feel free to look around.”
“Well then, I won’t decline and take a look around.”
In Professor Idra’s research lab, there were various magic tools—some I had seen during my time playing Croaca, and others completely new to me.
“Did Professor Idra personally make all of these?”
“Yes, I made all of them myself. How do you like it? Isn’t it amazing?”
“It’s truly amazing.”
I was purely impressed by the fact that Professor Idra had created all of this.
‘Was Professor Idra in her mid-twenties?’
There were over hundreds of magical tools in Professor Idra’s laboratory. There were probably more elsewhere.
While looking around at the magical tools, my gaze stopped at one place.
“hehehe, Rocky, as a student, do you know what that is?”
Professor Idra said with a bright voice, poking my side.
“Yes, how could I forget.”
What caught my eye was a blue sphere. If it was just a blue sphere, my gaze wouldn’t have lingered on it.
“The core of the golem from the entrance ceremony, right?”
During the entrance ceremony, there were over ten cores of that insane golem. In other words, if she wanted, Professor Idra could summon and make ten golems fight.
“Correct. Now that the sightseeing is somewhat over, shall we have a chat?”
Professor Idra said, tapping on the chair. I walked over to the chair she had tapped and sat down.
“Professor Idra, I don’t mind borrowing any magical tool, so could you lend me one?”
Since there wasn’t much time left until the next class, I decided to quickly show her.
Professor Idra handed me an item from her desk.
I put the item into the spatial pocket.
“You put it into the spatial pocket?”
“That’s right, please wait a moment!”
I pulled out the item again about a minute later and handed it to Professor Hydra.
Professor Hydra examined the item I handed over with keen interest, without saying a word.
“It has truly been reinforced.”
Her voice, usually cheerful, now sounded serious.
“How many people know about this ability?”
“Except for Professor Hydra, no one knows so far.”
“That’s fortunate. It’s better not to tell anyone about this ability.”
As she said, if others knew about this ability, it would become troublesome. Honestly, I hadn’t thought about telling anyone about this ability, but I thought it wouldn’t matter if I told Professor Hydra.
“Professor, how about making a deal with me?”
Professor Hydra, upon hearing the word ‘deal,’ responded with apparent interest.
“Oh, a deal?”
“I’ll reinforce the magical tools you want! In return, please help me make magical tools.”
Upon hearing my words, Professor Hydra seemed lost in thought. Then, as if she had finished thinking, she opened her mouth.
“It seems like a very favorable proposal for me alone, doesn’t it?”
“Helping Professor Hydra make magical tools is worth it. It’s a cheap deal.”
Others might think it’s a loss for me, but I didn’t mind. While I could easily create magical tools with the touch of a creator, that only applied if I knew the manufacturing process. However, with Professor Hydra’s help, I could create the tools I had only thought about.
“If we make this deal, as a professor, it pricks at my conscience. So, I’ll hand over a few magical tools I’ve created.”
“Accepting magical tools made by Professor Idra, now I feel guilty about it.”
“hahahahaha, I’m glad you appreciate the magical tools I made so highly.”
.
.
.
After all the classes were over, I walked to the dormitory.
Though it wasn’t quite night, the sky had darkened enough.
Comparing it to the inn I had stayed in, the dormitory was so spacious and nice that it felt almost disrespectful.
Of course, not all students used this dormitory. Perhaps it was highly likely that this dormitory was assigned to students in the special class.
“Now, shall I start unpacking?”
I took out various items from my dimension storage. Among them, there were also magical tools that Professor Idra had handed over earlier.
Although I had taken out all the necessary items, I decided to tidy up later, feeling lazy, and prepared to go to sleep.
“Huh?”
I tried to take out the medicine I had stored in the dimension space, but no matter how hard I looked, it wasn’t visible. I needed the medicine to fall asleep.
“Could it be all gone?”
If it were ordinary medicine, I would have gone out immediately to get it, but the medicine I needed was a special one made by Duke Adellian.
“Sigh.”
I sighed and lay down on the bed.
It wasn’t time to sleep yet, but thinking about not having the medicine made me quite anxious.
Until yesterday, I used to oversleep so much that I would even be late for the academy, but now I have to contemplate whether I can fall asleep at all.
‘I can’t ask the duke for more.’
If I were to ask the Adellian Duke for more, he would undoubtedly lecture me about not relying on medicine.
-Ring! Ring!
Amidst my worries, I heard a sound.
Let’s walk towards the source of the sound.
It was the communication device I received from Lucas in the morning that was making the noise.
Three people were connected to this communication device: the Emperor, Lucas, and Yerika.
Since Lucas had shared stories with me before coming to the dormitory, it was unlikely to be him.
Yerika had no reason to contact me, so she was excluded.
That left the Emperor.
My deduction was theoretically perfect.
[It seems you’ve received a good message from my brother.]
However, the result was completely off.
The person who contacted me was the Imperial Princess Yerika.
“What did the princess contact me for…”
[The clown couldn’t get through to you, so I called myself.]
Listening to the voice, she seemed a bit annoyed.
Well, rather than annoyed, it would be more accurate to say she was irritated.
“In the future, I will contact you first!”
I couldn’t contain myself, and Erika chuckled, saying, “Cook.” Fortunately, it seemed like she wasn’t too upset.
[How was the first day at the academy?]
When thinking of the communication unit as a modern smartphone, there are two options for contacting through it.
One is just a regular call, and
the other is a video call.
The call Erika made to me right now was a regular call where only her voice could be heard without seeing her face.
So, I comfortably spoke lying on the bed.
“It was eventful, to say the least.”
[Can you tell me about it?]
“Of course.”
I then told Erika about what had happened today.
Being late from the first day, all the special class students being scolded by the professor together, winning but losing, and so on.
Of course, I didn’t mention the incident with the burglar.
[You’ve been through a lot, but aren’t you supposed to sleep early if you’re going to fight with the professor again tomorrow?]
The current issue wasn’t about sleeping early but whether I could fall asleep.
“I’m fine. How was your day, Your Highness?”
Originally, it would be impolite to ask the princess such a question, but having become somewhat friendly with Erika while learning from the emperor, it didn’t matter much.
[I felt a bit bitter because I couldn’t meet the clown.]
Erika said with a hint of bitterness, but her voice was full of mischief.
She didn’t usually say such things, but occasionally, during our conversations, she spoke to me in that manner.
“Ahahahaha.”
Every time Erika spoke like that, I couldn’t help but chuckle briefly.
If I got caught by the emperor, it wouldn’t just end with a simple scolding.
.
.
.
Since then, I’ve had quite a few conversations with Erika.
It’s now truly night, although it’s an ambiguous time to call it night.
[Ah~ I think I should start getting some sleep now.]
Erika said with a yawn.
It might be against etiquette for the princess to yawn in front of others, but it’s evidence that I’ve become more comfortable.
[Your Highness, have sweet dreams.]
The princess naturally reciprocated my words.
[When you appear in my dreams, please take off your mask and come out.]
With a last word, Erika ended the call.
[Next time, feel free to call me Erika.]
Click – Click.
As Erika hung up, only the sound of the call ending echoed in my dorm.
“hahahahaha.”
Recalling Erika’s last words, I burst into laughter.
Strangely, when talking with Erika, I unknowingly relax, and my heart becomes more at ease.
For some reason, thinking that I could sleep a little, I lay on the bed and closed my eyes.
