I'm Not Interested in Devil Fruits

Chapter 23: INIIDF-Chapter 23 OraOra, MudaMuda

In the world of the Pirate King, there are various types of Den Den Mushi, such as...

Darn, can't remember!

Liam whistled, the sound echoing in the empty forest. Soon, the phantom-like dark battle armor drifted over. Earlier, it had separated from the main body to search for the wild Den Den Mushi.

'B.I.B.' enveloped the main body. Liam, through its helmet, "replayed" memories, directly recalling information from the Baidu Baike (Chinese equivalent of Wikipedia) he had previously read—

Den Den Mushi, with the owner's number on its shell, serves as a private line. It seems to have facial features resembling its owner, and each Den Den Mushi has distinctive characteristics.

It has ten buttons on the side, numbered 0-9, used for equivalent communication, and its size and functions are comparable to a home telephone. It can be carried around, has a strong signal, allows long-distance calls, and can mimic the expressions and tones of the speaker during conversations...

Black Den Den Mushi are small in size and will never grow. They don't like communicating with their kind and enjoy eavesdropping. They can only receive and are used for espionage...

Large Den Den Mushi, probably immobile, appeared in manga Chapter 500, serving as telephone booths; however, it's unclear how they are charged...

Surveillance Den Den Mushi monitors and sends/receives warning signals for specified ranges...

Image Den Den Mushi includes capturing and projecting images, used for recording videos or live broadcasts...

Self-propelled Image Transmission Den Den Mushi can walk on its own, gigantic in size...

White Den Den Mushi, appeared on the Revolutionary Army Leader Dragon's ship, which was slightly smaller than a regular Den Den Mushi, used for anti-eavesdropping, and placed beside a regular Den Den Mushi when in use...

Camera Den Den Mushi, appeared in manga Chapter 747, used by Koala to photograph a trade ship disguised as a pirate ship...

Additionally, there are golden and silver Den Den Mushi, special ones used by Marine Admirals for Buster Call...

Liam nodded in satisfaction. With 'B.I.B.' around, he no longer had to worry about forgetting details of the Pirate King's plot or settings.

However, after searching around on Baidu, he couldn't find any information about Den Den Mushi being able to change color like a color-changing dragon.

The creature on the tree branch, originally green, now seamlessly blended with the surrounding branches.

Could this little creature have eaten a Devil Fruit?

A Zoan color-changing Dragon Fruit?

'B.I.B.' separated from the main body and stood aside.

Liam raised his hand, and suddenly, petals danced in the air as two of Liam's arms sprouted, reaching for the Den Den Mushi that had transformed into the color of the branches.

However, Liam felt a slip in his hands, and the Den Den Mushi on the branch slipped away.

Startled!

Liam definitely hadn't seen it wrong; the snail-like little guy on the branch moved as swiftly as a rabbit.

As if it had an automatic roller installed under its bottom, it slid and wriggled, climbing behind the tree trunk.

"Bobo Bobo..."

A peculiar sound echoed from behind the tree trunk, seeming to say, "That was a bit shocking."

It extended two lollipop-like eyes, blinking twice.

This Den Den Mushi... Could it see where?

Robin was surprised, slightly opening her mouth, suddenly noticing the Den Den Mushi's gaze directed subtly toward Liam... and the air next to him.

Right, Liam's Stand!

This Den Den Mushi could actually see Liam's Stand?

"You can indeed see it." Liam chuckled, for once crossing his hands seriously, and used the Flower-Flower Fruit (Hana Hana no Mi) skillfully, "Then... you can't escape now!"

"Be my companion! Haha." He suddenly burst into laughter. Robin couldn't figure out the humor in that statement.

"Bobo Bobo?!"

The wild Den Den Mushi behind the tree trunk seemed to sense that things were not going well and was about to escape. However, it bumped into something head-on.

The little creature, with its two lollipop-like eyes, realized that around it, a complete circle of arms had risen, intertwining like a tidal wave, rushing towards it from all sides...

In the blink of an eye, this wild Den Den Mushi was handed over to Liam on the ground by a row of arms extending vertically on the tree trunk.

"Don't Den Den Mushi generally not resist being raised by humans?" Liam looked at the little creature in his hands.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he spoke, the creature shrank all over, changing color again. Its body color suddenly shifted to match Liam's palm.

"Are you this timid?" Liam curiously poked the color-changing dragon-like little creature with his fingers. To his surprise, the snail-like Den Den Mushi didn't feel too soft on the surface— it wasn't sticky, and perhaps not very sweet... In any case, the texture was unexpectedly firm.

This was strange.

Liam continued poking it twice, seemingly provoking the Den Den Mushi with skin-like color. "Bobo Bobo!"

The Den Den Mushi flicked Liam's finger away with a sweep of its body.

"Quite a temper and strength you got there?" Liam chuckled, taking out a specialized earpiece for Den Den Mushi from his coat pocket. "Come on, let's get you into your work uniform."

The earpiece was attached to the back of the Den Den Mushi.

"Bobo Bobo!" The skin-colored Den Den Mushi made two calls, expressing who knows what.

The next moment, it shivered, and Liam seemed to see a lump forming on its soft body like it squeezed out a tentacle, pushing the earpiece on its back out with a clang, dropping it to the ground.

"Bobo Bobo!" The skin-colored Den Den Mushi made two calls again, its expression seemingly saying, "Den Den Mushi will never be enslaved!"

After appreciating the astonished expressions of these two humans for half a second, the skin-colored Den Den Mushi intended to slip away from Liam's palm. Still, Liam lifted it back.

"You drop something and want to run?" Liam said, "You've got to make amends, right?"

"Bobo Bobo..." The skin-colored Den Den Mushi spat bubbles, its eyes rolling randomly, refusing to look at Liam, seeming both guilty and indifferent.

Liam muttered to himself, "It really can understand what I'm saying!"

The Den Den Mushi in his palm opened its big mouth.

"Robin, are Den Den Mushi highly intelligent?" Liam asked the bookish Robin.

Robin curiously glanced at the little creature in Liam's hand and replied, "There's no evidence suggesting that Den Den Mushi has intelligence beyond ordinary animals. The words they speak and the expressions they make during communication are like parrots, merely imitating through the special waves between Den Den Mushi..."

"Then, are there Den Den Mushi that can change color as it does in response to the environment?"

"I don't know..."

Liam thoughtfully examined the Den Den Mushi in his palm, which was slowly returning to its green color.

He reached out to the side, and 'B.I.B.' instinctively overlapped its left arm with the main body's arm, allowing Liam to put it on.

Liam wore the armguard adorned with blue flame patterns, reaching for the green Den Den Mushi.

However, upon contact with the snail-like body of the green Den Den Mushi, he couldn't pierce it like when he extracted the Flower-Flower Fruit (Hana Hana no Mi) from Robin's body. In other words...

This Den Den Mushi hadn't eaten a Devil Fruit.

"You damn creature, can't you be like me?!" Liam cursed.

The green Den Den Mushi was startled by his tone, and some of its green color faded.

Could it be that there's some poor soul even more unfortunate than him, who transmigrated into the world of the Pirate King and turned into a Den Den Mushi?

Liam suddenly said, "OraOra?"

A question mark slowly appeared above the green Den Den Mushi's head. "Bobo Bobo?"

Thankfully, it wasn't MudaMuda. Liam nodded.

At this moment, the green Den Den Mushi in his palm seemed fascinated, rubbing against his other hand.

The hand wearing the Stand armguard.
