Chapter 40 - Examine Ye Qing again (1)

Chapter 40 – Examine Ye Qing again (1)

Inside the Bentley, there was ample heating. Ye Qing curiously looked around. On the seats, there were soft pillows, blankets, and anything else she could possibly need. Next to her hand, there was a thermos bottle of warm water.

In the past, she seemed to have seen this same car. In that life, because she had to work for a living, she no longer looked youthful by the time she saw this car from the outside. Seeing Ye Zhen and her husband and child sitting inside this car as her own ears were flooded with the sound of that family’s laughter, she felt envious of their happiness and good fortune.

That happiness and good fortune belonged to her. It was only because she had readily surrendered it that Ye Zhen had it. No one could understand how much jealousy and hate she felt at that moment, or how much she regretted. However, thinking that she would soon get the same happy ending in the near future, Ye Qing decided that nothing else was important. It was already in the past. It was the future that was important.

She would be Mrs. Lu. Lu Beichuan would deeply fall in love with her. She would give birth to the Lu family’s next heir for Lu Beichuan. Their family of three would have a blissfully happy life.

Her future life would be happier and better than Ye Zhen’s previous life.

The chauffeur turned his head and offered with a smile, “Miss Ye, if there’s anything you…”

“Why do you call me Miss Ye?” Ye Qing unenthusiastically looked at him.

The chauffeur’s smile stiffened. He quickly changed his wording, “Mrs. Lu, Mr. Lu has ordered me to inform you if there’s anything you need, you can tell me. If you feel tired during the drive back, I can stop the car so you can rest.”

Ye Zhen had married into the Lu family a month ago. At that time, Ye Zhen was only a bride in name for the purposes of hopefully bring good luck to Lu Beichuan. Father Lu treated her as if she was nothing, and Mother Lu deeply felt that her daughter-in-law wasn’t worthy of her son. Old Master Lu, who was a bit friendlier to her, preferred to live a secluded life. Thus, Ye Zhen hadn’t been officially introduced with her new status, and everyone continued calling her Miss Ye.

Ye Qing smiled a bit. She silently nodded.

The chauffeur thoughtfully raised up the screen that divided the front and back of the car. The Bentley smoothly continued down the road. Ye Qing looked out through the window and watched as they gradually got farther away from her family’s villa. The smile at the corners of her lips spread across her face like a ripple across a lake.

An hour and a half later, they arrived near the vicinity of the Lu family’s home. People that lived in the villas on Jinzhun Qianshui Bay were all wealthy and respectable people. Ye Qing’s gaze lingered on these villas during the last part of the drive. She didn’t stop looking until the car stopped. Then, she adjusted her mood and got out of the car.

At the moment, there were many displays set up in the living room for Mrs. Lu to choose items from. As soon as Mrs. Lu saw Ye Qing coming inside, she quickly waved her hand at her. “Qingqing, come here and take a look at the new products for this season. Whatever you like, you can take it.”

Ye Qing secretly felt apprehensive. Shouldn’t the Lu family regard Ye Zhen as unimportant? Why was Mrs. Lu treating her so well?

Although Mrs. Lu’s behavior seemed strange, Ye Qing walked over without showing her emotions. Mimicking Ye Zhen’s previously cowering and timid mannerism in the Ye family’s home, she smiled and quietly said, “Mom, I have enough clothes and bags.”

“How can a woman ever have enough clothes and bags in her closet? Don’t worry, there are a lot of items here that are suitable for a youngster like you. Be at ease while selecting. Lu Beichuan will pay for you.”

On the side, Lu Shaoren, who had been reading a newspaper, heard these words and look at his wife. “Women only know how to buy clothes, bags, and cosmetics.” After saying that, he said to his father, “Dad, I have something I need to talk to you about.”

Old Master Lu nodded. He put down his cup of tea, stood up, and walked up the stairs with Lu Shaoren’s support.

Personality traits tended to skip one generation in the Lu family. Lu Beichuan’s personality wasn’t like his father, Lu Shaoren. Instead, he followed after Old Master Lu’s teachings and had a similar strong character. In contrast, Lu Shaoren had great ambitions, but he was doomed to achieve nothing in his lifetime. He was fond of an easy lifestyle and averse to work. He wanted to reap without sowing and was unwilling to be a steady and serious character. The relationship he had with his son and father had always been bad. When they were alone, they had nothing to say to each other.

Old Master Lu had given up on Lu Shaoren when he was young. As long as his son didn’t do anything too outrageous, he would turn a blind eye to his son’s activities. Old Master Lu placed all of his hopes on Lu Beichuan.

Lu Beichuan was a determined sort that hadn’t fallen short of his expectations. Despite his young age, he had succeeded in expanding their family’s company.

If that car accident hadn’t happened a year ago, the Lu family wouldn’t be in its current situation!
