Chapter 1316: The Death of Aerodactyl
Yuga never expected that after the light dispersed, Aerodactyl would suddenly Mega Evolve into Mega Aerodactyl.
Yuga had only encountered two cases of Pokémon achieving Mega Evolution autonomously: one involved Legendary Pokémon utilizing the power of giant meteoroids (including the Primal Reversions of Kyogre and Groudon), and the other was Absol empowered by the seed of unknown.
This was his first time witnessing an ordinary Pokémon independently undergoing Mega Evolution.
Clearly, Aerodactyl had experienced some unknown, extraordinary encounter.
In fact, Yuga had once attempted to see if Nana could Mega Evolve using the power of a giant meteoroid. After all, Nana was originally a Legendary Pokémon (Celebi). However, perhaps due to a mismatch between its body and soul, the meteoroid's power had no effect on Nana, and the matter was left unresolved.
After Mega Evolution, Aerodactyl's appearance became even more ferocious. Not only did its size increase, but its body was also covered with sharp black spikes. Its menacing aura made it clear that it was not to be trifled with.
"Aerodactyl~!"
After a deafening roar, Aerodactyl turned into a streak of light and charged at Nana. Mega Evolution had made it faster than ever, and in the blink of an eye, it was right in front of Nana. In a panic, Nana hastily erected a Reflect barrier for defense.
Boom!
Under the impact of Mega Aerodactyl, Nana was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing into a large tree in the distance, which snapped under the force.
Although the Reflect barrier had blocked Mega Aerodactyl's Iron Head move, preventing the skill itself from causing significant damage to Nana, the immense reactive force generated upon the barrier's impact launched Nana into the air.
With Mega Evolution, Aerodactyl's attack power was greatly enhanced, and its ability changed from Pressure to Tough Claws, which further boosted the power of close-range moves.
Seeing Aerodactyl reappear near the surface, Nidoqueen once again used Earth Power. Earth-toned energy surged to her arms, and with a powerful slap to the ground, stone pillars erupted one after another, surging toward Mega Aerodactyl.
However, it seemed that Mega Aerodactyl had anticipated this move. Its wings gleamed with a metallic sheen, as though they had transformed into razor-sharp blades.
Screeeech~
A piercing hum echoed as Mega Aerodactyl's wings sliced through all the rising stone pillars, leaving only smooth, clean cuts.
"Aerodactyl~!"
Mega Aerodactyl spiraled upward into the sky and once again used Iron Head to charge at Nidoqueen. Startled by its aggressive move, Nidoqueen hastily rolled to the ground, narrowly evading the powerful attack.
Boom!
The ground erupted into a massive crater under the full-force impact of Mega Aerodactyl, sending dirt flying in all directions and cracking the terrain.
Crash!
Another thunderous rumble followed as the ground collapsed again, sending large chunks of soil and rocks tumbling into the valley below. Even the river at the bottom of the valley was blocked by the falling debris.
While Aerodactyl had already flown back into the air as the ground collapsed, Nidoqueen, who was nearby, wasn't so lucky. She plummeted toward the valley bottom along with the cascading dirt and rocks.
Fortunately, Nana used Teleport to appear beside Nidoqueen just in time, rescuing her from the fall and bringing her back to the riverbank with another Teleport.
Mega Aerodactyl was too powerful, and even with Nana and Nidoqueen working together, they were showing signs of being overpowered.
Breathing heavily, both Nana and Nidoqueen looked up at the Mega Aerodactyl hovering in the air, their hearts filled with anxiety at their inability to contend with it.
Meanwhile, Florges continuously healed their stamina through Grassy Terrain.
Because it had discovered that its subordinates had been attacked, Aerodactyl had fallen into madness. Its eyes turned blood-red, and its overflowing rage had completely obliterated any sense of reason.
At this moment, the only thought in Aerodactyl's mind was to tear Yuga, Nana, and Nidoqueen to pieces.
"Aerodactyl~!"
The irrational Aerodactyl directly used its ultimate move, Giga Impact, hurtling toward Nana and Nidoqueen below.
Nana and Nidoqueen exchanged a glance. Around Nana, razor-sharp leaves began to materialize one by one, while Nidoqueen opened its mouth and formed a sphere of deep purple energy.
As Aerodactyl barreled toward them, Nana unleashed a barrage of Magical Leaf, while Nidoqueen spat out its Sludge Bomb.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~!
The Magical Leaf struck Aerodactyl, leaving marks on its body. However, Aerodactyl seemed completely unfazed, and the leaves were deflected one after another.
Splatter~!
The purple toxins from the Sludge Bomb splashed across Aerodactyl, sizzling as they corroded its skin, but the Aerodactyl didn't even flinch.
"Nana! Nidoqueen! Get out of the way!" Yuga shouted urgently, realizing they were about to be struck by Aerodactyl's Giga Impact.
But it was too late. The two Pokémon didn't have enough time to dodge.
At that critical moment, a shadow appeared out of nowhere in front of Nana and Nidoqueen, transforming into a shield.
With a resounding clang, Aerodactyl collided with the shield, and Nana and Nidoqueen were saved.
When Yuga saw the shield clearly, he shouted in surprise, "Aegislash!"
It was Aegislash, using its signature move, King's Shield, to block the supercharged Aerodactyl.
The Mega Aerodactyl was knocked back slightly upon impact with the shield. Then, with a sharp ringing sound, zing, Aegislash unsheathed its sword and slashed at Aerodactyl with Sacred Sword.
Clang~!
The Mega Aerodactyl, sensing danger, instinctively countered with Steel Wing. However, it was still struck by the Sacred Sword and sent flying a short distance.
This exchange clearly demonstrated the difference in strength. Compared to Aegislash, Nana and Nidoqueen were no match. The Mega Aerodactyl, which they couldn't handle together, was pushed back in a single clash with Aegislash.
Ultimately, it was Yuga's misjudgment. He had assumed that Nana and Nidoqueen teaming up against Aerodactyl would be a guaranteed victory, so he sent the stronger Aegislash to deal with Tyranitar instead.
But who could have predicted that Aerodactyl still had Mega Evolution up its sleeve, nearly causing Nana and Nidoqueen to lose the fight?
Now entirely consumed by madness, Aerodactyl turned its rage toward Aegislash, charging at it with Iron Head. However, Aegislash responded with another Sacred Sword, knocking it away once more.
Aegislash's arrival significantly relieved the pressure on Nana and Nidoqueen, allowing them to assist in the battle by simultaneously using Thunderbolt.
Before Aegislash showed up, Nidoqueen had been utterly despairing, convinced it was about to meet its end. It deeply regretted recklessly agreeing to Yuga's plan to attack Aerodactyl.
But after witnessing Aegislash's strength, it quickly regained its confidence.
Aegislash's power was even greater than Nana's, something Nidoqueen hadn't anticipated.
Meanwhile, on Joyha's side, after dealing with the Rhydon clan, she was ready to assist the other teams, as they had previously planned.
Among the four of them, Joyyun was the strongest, so Joyha immediately ruled out going to support Joyyun. After some thought, she decided to head to Jonah's team instead.
Because earlier, when discussing the plan, Yuga had informed them that the leader of the Victreebel clan Jonah was attacking was particularly strong and had frequently caused trouble for the Nido clan. He had specifically warned Jonah to be cautious.
However, halfway to their destination, the team led by Joyha happened to encounter the team led by Joyan head-on.
Joyan was surprised and said, "Joyha, you've already finished so quickly?" Their own speed was due to taking a shortcut, but Joyan hadn't expected Joyha's team to be this fast either.
"Yes, yes! Sister Joyan, have you guys wrapped up as well?" Joyha cheerfully hopped in front of Joyan and asked.
Since they were rushing to support other teams, Joyha and Joyan didn't waste much time. They briefly exchanged details about their respective situations and were both surprised to find that their teams had relied on some cunning strategies to complete their tasks.
The two teams quickly decided on how to split up and support the others.
Joyan's team had Yuga's Charizard, which was best suited to deal with the Grass-type Victreebel clan. Therefore, it was decided that Joyan would lead her team to support Jonah, while Joyha's team would go to assist Ajay's side.
When Joyan's team arrived at the Victreebel clan's territory, Jonah and Nidoking were in the midst of a fierce struggle. Nidoking was repeatedly at a disadvantage against the Victreebel leader, with its armor fractured in several places and barely holding on.
At this moment, Charizard descended from the sky, its raging flames forcing the Victreebel leader to retreat immediately.
"Victreebel~!"
While the Victreebel leader screeched in panic from the scorching flames, Charizard unleashed a Flamethrower. The Victreebel leader quickly used Leaf Storm to counter.
When the fire met the green leaves, they instantly ignited with crackling flames. Sparks fell to the ground, setting the grass in the Victreebel territory ablaze in no time.
The flames spread rapidly, engulfing the surroundings, terrifying the fire-fearing Victreebel clan into fleeing in all directions.
Charizard's flames, derived from the Heart of Moltres, belonged to the category of divine flames and were extraordinarily powerful.
With Joyan leading the reinforcements from the Nido clan, Jonah's morale soared. Before long, the Victreebel clan suffered heavy losses and was forced to retreat.
On the other side, Ajay and Kangaskhan's daughter were barely holding their ground against the Primeape clan's assault.
Among the three champion-level Pokémon of the Nido and Kangaskhan clans, Kangaskhan's daughter was the weakest. She was slightly inferior to the Primeape leader in strength and was constantly harassed by other Primeape, resulting in multiple injuries.
Surrounded by numerous Primeape, Ajay had no capacity to assist Kangaskhan's daughter.
When Kangaskhan's mother arrived, she saw her daughter being struck and sent flying by a Primeape. Furious, she charged forward and unleashed a flurry of blows on the offending Primeape.
The previously arrogant Primeape was now utterly overpowered by the enraged Kangaskhan mother, unable to retaliate and squealing in pain, looking completely pathetic.
Kangaskhan's daughter, seeing her mother arrive, was filled with excitement. She climbed back to her feet and rejoined the battle, teaming up with her mother to attack the Primeape leader.
The coordination between the mother and daughter was impeccable. They used Dizzy Punch simultaneously, striking the Primeape leader from both sides.
As the saying goes, "Even two fists cannot fend off four hands." How could a single Primeape stand against the combined assault of the mother-daughter duo, especially when its strength was already inferior to Kangaskhan's mother?
With Joyha's team joining Ajay's side, the situation turned around completely. The Primeape were quickly overwhelmed by the combined forces of the Kangaskhan clans, and the battle ended in no time.
The Primeape clan relied on outnumbering their opponents. Without that numerical advantage, their defeat was swift.
When the battle ended, the Primeape leader lay battered and motionless on the ground. Kangaskhan's mother approached and was about to snap its neck, but Joyha stepped in and stopped her.
"Instead of killing it, why not leave it to us?"
After thinking for a moment, Kangaskhan Mother agreed. Whether the Primeape leader lived or died was irrelevant to her as long as it no longer posed a threat to the Nido family and the Kangaskhan family. Letting Joyha and the others take it away was just as good.
"Thank you!" Joyha excitedly thanked the Kangaskhan Mother upon receiving her approval. Then she nudged Ajay and said, "You go capture that Primeape."
Ajay looked surprised and asked, "Me?"
Joyha nodded and replied, "Of course, who else?"
Embarrassed, Ajay said, "If you hadn't arrived in time, I wouldn't have been able to hold on. You should do it." Ajay felt awkward taking advantage of Joyha, who was younger than him. As her brother-in-law, he clearly understood the value of a Champion-level Pokémon.
"Why are you being so stubborn? If it weren't for you holding them off, we wouldn't have had the chance to get here," Joyha said, kicking Ajay lightly. "Look, I've got one too." She pulled out a Poké Ball containing her Rhydon and waved it in front of Jonah. "Besides, you won't be able to manage this Pokémon yourself. You'll have to take it home and trade it for resources, right? Just share some of the resources with me later."
"Alright then," Ajay said after considering her words. What Joyha said made sense. If he traded it for resources, he could just give her a bigger share later.
Ajay stepped forward, took out a Poké Ball, and threw it at the Primeape leader. The Primeape leader, unable to resist, was easily captured.
Afterward, the two of them picked out a few higher-level Pokémon from the Primeape group to capture as well.
At the same time, something similar was happening on Joyan and Jonah's side.
It could be said that even if the trade for the Revival Herbs fell through, just capturing several Elite level and Champion level Pokémon with the help of the Nido family and Kangaskhan family would be enough for Joyan and the others to make a huge profit.
On Yuga's end, thanks to the addition of Aegislash, the situation also turned overwhelmingly one-sided. The Mega Aerodactyl, under the combined assault of three Level 100 Pokémon, was quickly gravely injured and collapsed, unable to continue fighting.
However, what surprised Yuga was that no matter how severe the Aerodactyl's injuries were, it stubbornly refused to lose consciousness. Its gaze at Yuga and the Nidoqueen was filled with hatred.
After losing its ability to fight, the Aerodactyl had returned to a more rational state from its frenzy, and its hatred toward Yuga and the Nidoqueen was beyond measure—especially toward Yuga.
If Yuga hadn't intervened, it wouldn't have ended up in such a state!
Yuga took out a Poké Ball and threw it at the Aerodactyl. After a few seconds, the Aerodactyl broke free with a "bang" and reappeared.
Unwilling to give up, Yuga threw over a dozen Poké Balls in succession, but the Aerodactyl refused to yield.
Looking at the Aerodactyl gasping heavily, Yuga frowned deeply. He hadn't expected this Aerodactyl to have such a stubborn personality, preferring death over surrender.
The Aerodactyl was extraordinarily strong. It took three Level 100 Pokémon to bring it down, and Yuga was genuinely tempted to capture it. However, he hadn't anticipated that the Aerodactyl would have a personality so unyielding that it would rather die than submit.
Unwilling to give up, Yuga took out yet another Poké Ball and prepared to throw it at the Aerodactyl. However, this time, the Aerodactyl did not sit idly by—it reacted violently.
"Aerodactyl~!"
Dragging its heavily injured body, the Aerodactyl struggled to stand up on its forelimbs. It let out a long, sorrowful cry before resolutely turning its gaze toward Yuga.
Yuga suddenly had a bad feeling, and sure enough, in the next second, he saw the Aerodactyl's body abruptly explode, shattering into countless pieces of rubble that scattered in all directions.
Both Yuga and Nidoqueen were utterly stunned.
