Immortality in DxD

Chapter 33: Chapter 32: Sharks Among Minnows

Kunou could literally sense the collective Ki in the room shift as those doors open, smell the stench of greed, taste the edge of violence in the air. She subconsciously recognized that her 2 guards had already taken protective positions, Daidachi looming menacingly in the background as Riko stood as still as a statue. Leg muscles bunching in subtle readiness. But the blonde knew that despite their readiness, if these people wanted to kill her all she could do is flee long enough for her mother to turn them into paste.

Out of the doorway, 5 figures came walking in. The pressure they gave off was entirely different than the Ki all Yokai were use to. Magic. An art entirely different than anything they've witnessed and was most assuredly the primary reason why Yokai's were in this terrible situation. They couldn't understand that elusive power in time and paid the price for it.

In the leading position, a handsome man with tanned skin and a man of blonde hair smirked slightly at the cautious crowd. Those green, predatory eyes licking themselves across any exposed skin from the opposite sex. He wore a western black suit that showcased his heavily muscled body, with a bright red tied that really made his appearance pop out.

'Next', more like a couple feet away, an incredibly beautiful black haired woman smiled kindly. Her pale skin glistened under the overhead lights but that white dress that hung lasciviously off that simply sinful body had certainly caught the eye. Even Kunou couldn't help but look on at the embodiment of sex in slight envy. Despite the fallen angel's dress, she didn't seem bothered by the lustful glances being sent her way in fact, she seem to eat it up readily enough.

Besides her, a heavily tanned girl stood off to the side. The 2 couldn't have been more different, her more slender frame contrasting nicely to buxom woman to the side. Her short cropped brown hair highlighted her youthful expression that most assuredly belied her actual age. She wore a pure white toga that fell off one shoulder and highlighted the fact that yes, her tanned covered every inch of her frame.

Standing a few steps a way, a kindly old man stood with a slight smile gracing his thin lips. That short blonde hair was combed exquisitely fine and combine that with the white-gold priest robes he wore, was the very picture of a stereotypical holy man. But despite his rather bland appearance and disarming smile, no one there was fooled in the slightest. After all, some of them had fought this particular priest multiple times.

And finally, a statuesque woman simply towered over rest of her companions. That long, white hair was tied up in a high ponytail that allowed the world to see her beautiful face. Wearing a silver dress that highlighted a body that had gone through many centuries of training for the final battle, light scars could be seen from her sleeves clothing. Coating her arms and shoulders, but they didn't detract from her appearance in the slightest. Only giving off the feeling like she was some kind of warrior princess.

As though they had choreographed everything, they split up into the crowd as one. Each dragging unwilling Yokai into conversations, some more than which. These people, despite their appearances were there enemies. Representing organizations that had been stepping on their necks for centuries now without a care in the world. No one wanted to be seen with such a diverse group. But it seem these diplomats wouldn't be giving any of them the chance to snub them.

Kunou watched on as the air, while not complete stilling, calmed from the point of violence to a level where maybe only a heavy verbal sparing would occur. Hopefully…

"Stay sharp you 3."

A deep voice baritone voice said from besides them, causing her golden tails to flinch in unison.

"Marui-sama." The blonde said after allowing her heart to simmer down from that near death she had barely avoided," I will certainly do so."

"Good." The giant Oni that made Daidachi look like a child nodded in kind," Don't worry about them. If they try anything, I'll be the first to take my swing at them. DaiDai, I sure hope you brought your tetsubo."

"Dad…" If it was possible, the crimson teen looked to have become a few more degrees brighter under that particular nickname," I'm working."

"Of course." He snorted goodnaturedly while putting a meaty palm on his son's shoulder, obvious pride could be seen in his eyes as scanned the muscular Yokai," Then Daidachi, as a member of the Crimson Oni Clan, your tetsubo is like another limb. You should never go anywhere without it."

And with that, he handed over what looked like a stick in his giant palms to the incredibly bashful teen. The 'stick' in question was simply covered completely in kanji that was essentially screaming at her senses.

"And you." The man turned to the catgirl that was visibly shrinking away," Stop being so stiff. Even though your family have been some annoying fuckers as of late, I won't take it out on a child. Just take what's going on a lesson as to what not to do in the future."

"Y-yes Marui-sama."

Riko bowed graciously and Kunou really couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl. This wasn't the first time a council member had spoken to her and also not the first time she had admonished for her clan's behavior as later. Apparently, they had stepped on a lot of toes after that incident. If she were to put it in Marui's words; they're being annoying as fuck.

Honestly, she was just glad the other prominent Nekomata's were staying far away from her. They had been standing near the edges of the gather in tightly bunched groups, some elders and other rising stars in their clan.

"It's good that you understand." He nodded while completely ignoring his son's glare," But that's enough of that. Did Yasaka-sama tell you how to respond when they speak to you?"

It was an obvious 'when' and not 'if' given her situation. Kunou was the daughter of the Yokai leader after all and none of those sharks would miss the chance to feel her out in the slightest. Also it was good to form a relationship now when she's young and not as wildly as her mother. At least not yet anyway.

"Yes."

The blonde girl nodded in agreement, already running through the lines the older kitsune had given her. It was paramount that Iori's youthful appearance was kept a secret until the very end. That way they could throw all their plans up in the air. Apparently, she was sure that none of his surviving disciples would've expected that fact he had transcended physical aging entirely. Kunou even knew the so called 'lanterns' were not just there for decorations, but for the recording factor so that Yokai everywhere could thoroughly enjoy those shocked expressions.

"Then I won't keep you." Marui said, his eyes locked on a steadily oncoming nuisance," Never-mind, here she comes.."
