Imprisoned in armor within a fantasy world

Chapter 6

He felt terror as he tried to move his metallic limbs, witnessing what was once a dark and peaceful armory transform in a fraction of a second into threatening ruins, with half the floor heaped upon rocks

In the midst of the chaos, the eerie silence was occasionally punctuated by distant echoes of groans from the damaged structure. The once-organized racks and shelves that held the armory's arsenal were now reduced to twisted, tangled messes. Dust-filled rays of sunlight filtered through cracks in the ceiling, casting eerie shadows on the remains of what was once a sanctuary for weaponry.

...

It was just another waking cycle where he attempted to envision more scenes of movement when suddenly, a cacophony of screams and clashes of metal interspersed with the groans of wood reached him. This made him abandon all caution and attempt to immerse himself fully in the state of motion.

And now, he crawled, attempting to stand on his feet, navigating through debris and filth. His knee trembled as he pushed himself forward until he reached an intact opening, standing with a slightly bent knee, gazing contemplatively at the green sunlight.

The color seemed unnatural, like everything else his new eyes had witnessed, but it was a welcome sight after being immersed in darkness for an indeterminate time. However, the desperate screams quickly brought him back to reality, and he scanned his surroundings, searching for an escape from the humans. Yet, his surprised eyes fell upon a mixture of threads that confirmed the presence of another person.

"It looks familiar."

......

Khaled winced in agony as he maneuvered the hefty boulders he narrowly escaped from, using his right hand, while his left clutched his waist, staunching the flow of blood. He tried to exert minimal force on his limping right foot, despite his efforts to avoid the projectile's trajectory; its impact still reached him, forcefully propelling him against a shard of sharp glass that pierced his waist, shattering his leg bone due to a loose fragment from the tumbling colossal rock. Amidst the wreckage, he scoured for his bag, only to find torn fabric and scattered belongings strewn everywhere. Yet, that wasn't his primary concern. After a brief search near the fabric, he finally discovered what he sought....A simple stone, darker in hue than the rest of the rocks, stood out with an air of greater solidity. with a keen eye, notice the intricate inscriptions adorning it, showcasing artistic precision distinct from ordinary writings used for communication.

Khaled approached it, and as soon as he grasped it, the inscriptions started to emit a faint milky glow.

"Thank God, the runes remain intact," he murmured in relief.

A moan filled with pain escaped his mouth, accompanied by a hint of relief, while witnessing an astonishing and supernatural scene. The milky glow emanated from all the small scars and bruises scattered across his body, including his hand, bathed in the deeper glow of care. His skin near the stab wound began to crawl quietly, as if it had acquired a life of its own, accompanied by the sound of bones creaking in his limping foot.

He estimated that the minor bruises and superficial wounds would heal in a few minutes, but the stab wound on his waist and the limping foot would need a full day. With this realization, he now focused his attention on getting closer to the lord as quickly as possible, fueled by renewed energy, he navigated through the corridors until he approached the armory of the lower-ranking soldiers. But there, he was met with an unexpected sight.

A seemingly ordinary armor, except that it moved like a living being, its movements erratic and unstable. He would have questioned the source of its motion, but the eerie blue-green flames emanating from its joints provided enough evidence. The color reminded him of a armor he encountered about six months ago, grabbing his attention at that time.

Is he a living soul? or a spirit? He couldn't determine, as it wasn't something common or easily explainable. Perhaps it was merely a manipulator of runes, causing mischief. Suddenly, the small flames that acted as eyes on the armor turned towards him, and he felt as if the armor was surprised to see him, as if he were the stranger here!

"There you are! Introduce yourself...or you know you don't have to, I'll know when I get my hands on you"

The living armor didn't utter a single word; it simply changed direction and surged away with all the strength its unstable limbs could muster, leaving Khalid behind.

"Damn" he cursed under his breath. Should he continue chasing the limping armor or ignore it and head for the lord? Before he could decide, he found himself already following the armor. It wasn't as if the armor was faster than him; even the armor lacked much strength in its limbs, making the pursuit somewhat balanced.

An limping man chasing a stumbling armor, but as he followed, he noticed the armor was gradually improving in its movements, becoming faster and more fluid until it almost matched human agility. "Is it becoming more connected with the armor, or what?" he asked himself in a whisper

.....

"Damn, damn, damn!" cursed under his breath as he stepped out of the armory only to come face-to-face with a hostile figure. Has his luck run dry since arriving in this new world? There was no room for contemplation or negotiation with this individual – they spoke a different language and seemed nothing like him. The other party's aggressiveness eliminated any chance of understanding or reaching an agreement.

With no second thought, flee with all the strength his unsteady limbs could muster, a deep sense of terror engulfing his being.

If he had possessed a human body, his adrenaline levels would have skyrocketed to unnatural levels, and his heart would have pounded forcefully within the confines of his chest. His breath would have faltered, but fortunately or unfortunately, this body lacked biological fatigue, enabling him to disregard distance and move at the utmost capacity he could produce, all without feeling the strain. Perhaps due to fear, necessity, or his mental training, his movements began to flow more effortlessly and instinctively, until he found himself experiencing the agility of human motion.

His happiness remained incomplete, as at one of the crossroads of the alley, a group of other individuals emerged, and they quickly came to a sudden halt, fixing their attention on him. He muttered a curse under his breath, for now he found himself trapped from both sides, with no means of escape. He scanned his surroundings, searching for a solution, then halted his footsteps and changed his course, with no destination in mind other than the side wall, or rather, the large windows connected to the ceiling. Summoning all the strength he could muster, he leaped while praying for salvation. Unaware of the building's height from the ground, he hoped his new body could endure the impact of the fall.
