Chapter 95: Chapter 85 Elizabeth

The girl adopted a firm and unwavering knight's stance as she gracefully raised her sword toward the sky. "I, Elizabeth III, ask for your input on this temporal alliance that the heavens will take care of." Her voice carried the weight of solemnity, and as she spoke, a blue window appeared before Dante.

"Elizabeth III has used her ability on you. If you accept, you and Elizabeth will enter a state of alliance. You will be severely punished with the status 'TRAITOR' for attacking her if you are still in the alliance at the moment of the act."

"Uh... ok!" Dante, currently adopting his silly side, didn't overthink the decision. Even if he was in a more serious state, he would have reasoned that more allies were always better, and this ability didn't seem to have any hidden strings attached or fine print that could backfire in the future.

After a brief moment of looking at each other in silence, Dante, with a muffin now inexplicably in his mouth, asked, "What now?!"

Elizabeth's stern expression softened into a reassuring smile. "We wait! Fighting at the start of the game is useless. We are in a 10km dome zone with 100 players and 50 flags. You gotta secure one and survive before the time limit of one hour! And don't worry, I may not look it, but I am quite strong!"

Without warning, Dante grabbed Elizabeth by the arm. In the blink of an eye, their surroundings changed. Elizabeth found herself holding a popsicle in her free hand and with a bewildered expression by the sudden change. "What the..." mumbled slowly, as her eyes darted around, taking in the new environment before locking onto the pink-haired girl. "Teleportation...?"

The pink-haired girl nodded cheerfully, "Yes! We searched for the safest place at this moment, and this is where we landed. If by some reason you don't like it we can go back-..."

Elizabeth's thoughts raced in real time, piecing together the implications of Dante's ability. A smile of realization spread across her face. "Now I understand it! She was a trump card all along. With this ability, they could run away from any problem or event! I'm glad my kindness guided me to befriend this girl." Her face beamed with satisfaction, and sparkles practically glowed beside her. "Yes, it must be! Destiny is rewarding me for being such a good person in such a place!"

...

50 minutes later, from that interaction, Elizabeth spoke with a slightly urgent tone, hidden in a bush: "Now we gotta hunt for a lone player. It's not my thing to unfairly ambush someone, but we have no choice; most flags are already taken. Could you bring us to a place where we can hunt a lone player?"

Dante, still munching on candy and without his serious personality, responded nonchalantly, "Yuh-uh!" With a snap of her fingers, the scene shifted once more. Before them stood an unsuspecting player who was looking at another place, and in a flash, Elizabeth's sword was already piercing his throat, not even letting him know the face of his killer.

Elizabeth wiped the blood from her shining blade and turned to Dante. "This is really fancy... thank you for your help." She continued, her tone softening, "Let's go for your flag. I'm not that ungrateful-"

Elizabeth's words were abruptly cut off by a deep, ominous voice that seemed to echo from all directions. "Ladies, if you hand over a flag, I might consider sparing one of you."

Elizabeth's heart shrank; she felt a chill run down her spine as she recognized the menace in his tone. The shadows around them seemed to darken, and the forest grew eerily quiet. Instinctively, the grip of her sword began tightening as she screamed, "QUICK! GET US OUT OF HERE NOW!"

A blinding flash of magical light struck Dante, sending him flying through the air. The thunderous impact sent a shockwave that rattled the trees and sent the leaves swirling everywhere. This action left a profound impression on Elizabeth, and she raised the threat level.

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. Her body was instinctively poised for battle; every muscle tensed as she registered the sheer speed and power behind the strike. The air crackled with residual magic as her sword began to shine with a yellow glow.

The unknown voice conveyed with the elegance of a cleric, "I Dominic Grace, a chosen of god, sent by the divine to write a new covenant that will end like my legacy, like a humble Devotee for the moment, and future acolyte that will become a priest of the grand-"

"That tickles!" Said Dante childishly, brushing off the attack with nothing more than a giggle. The entire world seemed to freeze as her laughter rang out, "What did you want to say, Elizabeth?"

Both Elizabeth and Dominic stared in disbelief, their eyes wide with shock. "HOW ARE YOU FINE!?" they shouted in unison, their voices tinged with incredulity and frustration.

The pink-haired girl stood amidst the smoke and debris. She flicked away the last of the dust from her outfit, leaving it like new, "Duh, because the attack was weak," she replied, with her usual dismissive and light tone, "We just have a question: what is a devotee?"

Elizabeth and Dominic stared at Dante in utter confusion. "You don't know what gods and aspects are?"

Dante tilted his head, saying, "Yeah, I know they choose someone and give them advantages, basic knowledge, all that fair and easy stuff. But it's my first time hearing the terms' devotee' and 'acolyte.' Could you give me a quick rundown?"

Elizabeth, still a bit perplexed by the situation, assumed Dante was probably a new player, but even that wouldn't make sense, "Devotees are a higher tier than followers. They're chosen by the gods themselves or a high-ranking member of their group. Think of it like nobility; there are different ranks: Follower, Devotee, Acolyte, Priest or Priestess, and finally, Aspect."

The pink girl nodded as she absorbed the information. Then, she uttered words that left Elizabeth and Dominic breathless. "So, he's basically cannon fodder, but premium."

Dominic's face contorted with rage. The vein on his forehead bulged exaggeratedly, and his skin flushed a deep, furious red. "This mere woman... dares to call me cannon fodder!?" he roared as a magic circle began to form in his hands, and the air around him began crackling with energy.

"SILENCE!" An unknown voice, cold and metallic, roared through the air with an undeniable authority, prompting Dominic to cancel his attack.

Authors note:

Why so late?

I think... I may have fucking ADHD...

I SWEAR THAT I CAN STOP CREATING HISTORIES!!!

I already have 12 with between 3-12k words...

Right now, I am thinking about starting a second work because my attention span doesn't FUCKING ALLOW ME TO WRITE ONE HISTORY!

I'll select the good ones and present them to y'all to see what I am going to write.

Yesterday, I created one of 5k words because of a nightmare I had. It's about dolls, and it's probably the next one I am about to write. (It's quite good, actually, but I officially lost the plot after 3k words of planning.)

ARGHHHH!!!!
