Infinite Potential System

Chapter 287: I'll Take That, And That Too

William hardly felt the effects of the Fire Element's upgrade. He was already soaking under the lava, where the heat's intensity was already at its peak. His insides churned slightly, but other than his skin forming cracks, the Heat Resistance Talent was able to handle the rest of the side effects.

The upgrade proceeded swiftly, many times faster than the previous Fire-Elemental upgrades. It was almost certain now that upgrading the System also increased the speed at which his Talents upgraded, because he remembered spending hours waiting for his Fire Affinity to reach A-Rank.

Now, after just ten minutes, William's Fire Element had completed the upgrade to SS-Rank.

He peeked up at Uri with Life Vision while using another Life Element Spell to repair his injuries, seeing the dragon circling in the air to dodge Supreme Left and Unbreakable Right and stall for time.

The two Cultivators also had their attention on William, but they were only able to see the shape of his body and the fluctuations of his aura through their Domains, but nothing else.

They could clearly tell that William was trying to defend himself from their Molten Domain, but it seemed he wouldn't be able to break free in a short period of time, so they took the chance to focus on eliminating one of the two enemies.

Uri was different from the two Cultivators, since he was William's Companion Beast. Through his link with William, Uri could sense that his Master was still in almost perfect condition, so he committed to defense and evasion to keep the Cultivators' focus on him.

William's Earth Element upgrade also proceeded quite smoothly; its Earth Spikes completely unable to pierce through his Hard Skin Talent. His Life Element easily maintained his condition for the next ten minutes until the upgrade was complete.

A locked Bonus Effect? What a shame, I will need to invest in more Talents soon.

William smiled. Completing the System's Quest would grant him ten thousand Potential Points, which was enough to offset the cost of upgrading the two Elements. He raised his hands to the air, silently calling Mana of both the Earth and Fire Elements to form their respective Domains.

Replaying the movements of Supreme Left and Unbreakable Right, William copied their Molten Domain exactly, seizing control of the lava that surrounded his body in one go. He increased the strength of the Domain slowly to lower the lava level, then opened his Domain of Wind to recover his ability to fly.

Removing the lava wasn't the only reason why William had opened the Molten Domain. Instead, he split the Molten Domain back up into Fire and Earth, then reversed them both to take away the Earth and Fire Mana within a radius of one kilometer.

Feeling the effects of his own Domain being suppressed, Supreme Left looked at William in shock. "What are you?!? How can your Fire Element be so strong?!"

He and Unbreakable Right mobilized their Mana to fight against William's Domains, but they were only able to slow the speed at which William's Domain took over. They tried to retreat to escape the range of William's Domain, but the Time Domain opened and slowed them down by almost twenty percent.

William flew after the two Cultivators, maintaining close proximity at all times to keep them in range of his Domains, opening one Domain after the next to force them into a dire situation.

The Gravity Domain pressed down on their backs, forcing them to lose altitude until they were running across the ground. Now four times as heavy as before and slowed by an additional twenty percent, the two Cultivators' speed was reduced to the peak of the Soul Formation Realm.

Dodging William's consecutive attacks was almost impossible now, given his immense speed. They committed their Cultivation base to raising consecutive Spirit Auras, rushing to the edges of the barrier as quickly as possible.

"Open the barrier! Open the barrier quickly!" they shouted with extreme anxiety. They didn't care if William escaped anymore. If they couldn't beat him, then there probably wasn't anyone that could by themselves.

Supreme Left raised an intricate communicator to call for Wentor, Hun Dao, and some of the other peak Cultivators across the World, but a portal formed where his hand was and sent both hand and item into William's grasp.

"Lost your advantage and calling for help now? Sorry, but I'm tired of that already." William said while storing the communicator in one of his normal Space Rings that were empty. He would deal with the protective measures later if the item didn't explode.

Supreme Left had another communicator, but he knew that the same thing would happen if he tried to grab it now. He continued running towards the now-open barrier with Unbreakable Right while waving his staff to cast some stored defensive Arrays.

"More treasures? Come on." William complained as he activated the Ice and Darkness Domains together, piercing the barriers with a series of Ice Spikes that sprouted from underneath while the Darkness Element corroded the most important Arrays of the Dao Staff.

"How many Domains do you have?!?" Unbreakable Right shouted, his previous calm and masculine ego nowhere to be seen.

His physical appearance was like someone that hit the gym every day, but his current expression was more like an orphaned child that had repeatedly fallen into a puddle: on the verge of tears but with no one to provide comfort.

I feel bad for thinking that, honestly. But in this scenario it's pretty funny. William chuckled.

He withdrew the Darkness Mana after breaking just a few Arrays, infuriating Supreme Left as he realized the boy's intention. His face contorted as he guessed what was going on in William's mind.

He's afraid of damaging my equipment. In his head, this battle is already over! he cursed.

And he was absolutely correct. With his knowledge of Arrays, William would be able to restore the Dao Staff to its previous condition easily, but the unique wood and metal used to create the item were a different story. If he could help it, William preferred to keep the staff as pristine as possible.

"Actually, screw that, give me your staff buddy." William said as the Space Domain opened and a portal cut off Supreme Left's other hand. William found himself both a Dao Staff and one hand richer, storing both in the same Space Ring as the communicator.

He smiled as he chased after his opponents, scanning their bodies from head to toe for any more valuable items.
