Chapter 305: Rapid Spending
Back in the Gravitas Ruins, William had finally decided on what to upgrade.
I can't pass on the Potential Farms right now. I'm going to have to Cultivate a lot soon, so these should be upgraded first.
System, upgrade both my Potential Farms to C-Rank.
-200000 PP
It was a painful request, costing William a third of his total Potential Points in one go, but time would make up for it.

Another farm slot, but I just spent so many Potential Points...
William decided to go through with the purchase regardless, since he had so many Potential Points and this would boost his income even faster. He swiftly upgraded the third Potential Farm to C-Rank, losing another 111 thousand Potential Points while the farm expanded further.
POTENTIAL POINTS: 358403
Almost half gone already. Let's do some real upgrades now.
"Atticus, come here." William ordered to the snake that was sleeping nearby.
"Yess, Masster." Atticus replied while raising his large head that would have broken through William's old ceiling. He followed William through a large long-distance Portal that took him to the Tribulation grounds, then sat still as Will scrolled through his System Panel.
System, upgrade Atticus to A-Rank.

Atticus' body suddenly grew by a stage, with no warning. William was forced to jump back to avoid a second sudden growth spurt, where Atticus became over a hundred meters tall. His scales elongated, rattling like chainmail armor as he slithered... into the air!
He can fly? William exclaimed. A snake without wings... was slithering through the air as if it was not air but soft sand under his body. He navigated the air currents with ease, riding them like waves and performing corkscrews to get around the tricky ones.
The upgrade continued for a while, eventually turning the hundred-meter Mythical Rat Snake into one over two hundred meters, while his Cultivation reached the peak of the Nascent Soul Realm. He was almost the same size as Flame Dragon Uri's previous form!

There was no Tribulation throughout the entire upgrade, which was still very odd in William's opinion. Now that he had quite a few Potential Points, however, William felt it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask.
System, why hasn't Atticus undergone any Heavenly Tribulations?
-Request requires 35 Potential Points. Yes/No?
Wow, it's much cheaper than I remember. Confirm.
-Atticus' natural Illusion Domain is enough to conceal his presence from the Heavens. It also has to do with his previous bloodline, which has since been improved. As long as Atticus is below the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, the Heavens won't be able to notice the snake.
I have the Illusion Domain too, does that mean I can avoid the Heavenly Tribulations as well?
-No, because you are not a Magical Beast, and even if your Beast bloodline was as powerful as your Rat Snake's old bloodline, it would only conceal you up to the Nascent Soul Realm. The moment you are noticed by the Heavens, every tribulation you skipped up until then would activate simultaneously.
Which means Atticus will have to fight every Tribulation if his Illusion Affinity doesn't improve past that point.
William looked at Atticus, whose beautifully purple scales had turned the Mythical Rat Snake into a majestic being whose eyes glimmered with intelligence. It surfed through the air with grace like an eastern-style dragon, its threatening aura even attracting over Sir Reynolds, who thought an enemy had somehow broken in.
When Sir Reynolds saw Atticus, though, he couldn't help but exclaim in awe at the qualities of the massive snake. Its resplendent purple scales were definitely strong enough to handle the attacks of any Soul Formation Beast, and its other physical qualities told the Artifact Spirit that Atticus was likely able to compete with weak Tribulation Transcendence opponents.
Cultivators couldn't even compare. Only a Tribulation Transcendence Cultivator could possibly injure this snake, which was insane considering Atticus was more of an assassin-type Magical Beast. His strengths lied in speed and stealth, not defense or attack power.
When Atticus released his Illusion Domain, its range spread across almost the entire Gravitas Ruins, spreading thick purple fog that wiped away even one's senses. Not only could Atticus not be detected, but his enemies wouldn't even be able to sense each other!
It was a superior form of Illusion Magic, something that Sir Reynolds had only ever heard of. Even Riyald probably had never met someone with such an incredible Elemental Affinity. Was it the rumored SS-Rank?
And to think a Magical Beast had such unbelievable talent!
Little did Sir Reynolds know that Atticus didn't have SS-Rank Illusion Magic. In fact, his old Illusion Domain was even stronger than William's current S-Rank Illusion Affinity. Now that he had been upgraded, it was probably close to SSR-Rank!
William could tell at a glance that upgrading his own Illusion Affinity wouldn't be enough to compare to Atticus.
This was why William didn't have any qualms with his next request for the System.
System, upgrade Atticus again.

William stepped back quite far this time, until he was over five kilometers away. It turned out to be a good choice, since Atticus' size instantly doubled to four hundred meters, continuously growing in size as his scales struggled to grow with his body.
Instead of growing magically like before, Atticus shed his skin at a certain point, his seemingly heavy armored scales floating down like a feather. William teleported next to Atticus and stored the snakeskin in his Space Ring just in case it was damaged, then teleported away to watch the remainder of the upgrade.
Sir Reynolds, who was already stunned by Atticus' indomitable aura was now completely still. He stared with wide eyes as Atticus' Cultivation rose to the peak of the Soul Formation Realm, just a touch away from Tribulation Transcendence.
It wasn't just fast Cultivation, it was instant! He didn't understand how it worked, nor could he fathom how it had happened in the first place. Was it a gift from the Gods?
He looked at William, who had previously shown off similar improvements. Was it because this boy was the snake's master?
William looked back at Sir Reynolds that was four kilometers away, opening a portal for the Artifact Spirit so he could come closer.
"Did you do this?" Sir Reynolds asked.

William nodded, "I tried to hide it before because I was afraid of being targeted, but you've already seen enough. I can send my own Cultivation to my pets."
William had thought of a good explanation for his Talents and had even considered a fake "drawback" that would prevent others from wanting to exploit him.
"Then..."
