Into the Beyond - Part 2: Far From Human - Chapter 11: Hard Boiled

Lewis found himself outside of Jeremy’s house. The party was over, broken up by the police, but the cops were already gone. He snatched up his bicycle, still propped up against the side of the house and rode back to the creepy house.

He pulled up just in time to watch himself leave with Mr. Gray through the portal. The other Lewis waved meekly before stepping through with no idea as to the craziness that was about to transpire over the next few hours.

The other two Mr. Grays opened up separate portals, leaving Lewis all alone. The Mr. Gray without the jellybean jar shot him a tiny wink before heading out.

Lewis walked his bike around the back of the house and left it there. He didn’t want any extra attention directed towards the abandoned house. He came back around the front and sat down on the front porch to wait for Josie to stop by. While waiting, he flipped open the journal to see what the next passage said. Before he could get into it a passing car stopped suddenly in the street right in front of him.

It was Andrew, in his car by himself. “Lewis!” he yelled out his window.

Lewis narrowed his eyes. He hadn’t expected to see Andrew again so soon. He had to remind himself that it wasn’t until tomorrow that Andrew would help Jeremy and Landon put him in the hospital.

“We all thought you got caught!” said Andrew as he turned off his car and stepped out. “I just dropped everyone else off at Kenzie’s.”

Lewis didn’t want to say anything that might mess up the timeline. “Nope, I got away,” he said.

“That was a badass window break,” he said. The jock’s gaze became fixated on Lewis’s journal as he approached. “Is that… Landon’s diary?”

“What? No.”

“Yes it is! He has the exact same one. You stole Landon’s diary didn’t you!”

“Of course not,” said Lewis. “This is mine.” Lewis stood up.

Andrew’s facial expression intensified. “Let me see it!” He reached out but Lewis pulled the journal away. “Give it to me,” he ordered.

Lewis didn’t give him another chance to grab at the journal. He swung out with his left fist as hard as he could, catching Andrew by surprise as his knuckles collided with the jock’s eye socket. Andrew went down hard, crying out as he crumpled to the ground. Lewis tucked the journal under his arm as he ran off at a full sprint down the street.
