Isran the Great

3.8 Living in a dungeon

Isran was much larger than Elysi, that point became glaringly obvious when she woke up with Phaedra’s head on her chest and her arms wrapped around the sleeping healer.

When she had entered the tent the night before she had managed to create a little distance between them, their arms were almost touching. But she was very much someone who didn’t stay at one place in her sleep and it seemed Phaedra was the same.

Isran slowly moved the sleeping healer off her, sliding her arms and head off her before shuffling out of the sleeping bag. She was grateful that the woman didn’t rouse from sleep.

“What time is it?” Elysi asked as Isran sat beside her, the fire had died out, it was warmer than when she went to sleep.

“Ten in the morning.”

Elysi hummed. “I should probably get a time enchantment as well.”

“Why? You have me.” Isran smirked.

Elysi glanced up at her with a laugh. “Oh is that so?”

Isran grinned and lifted her girlfriend into her lap. “It is very much so.”

They gazed into each other’s eyes about to kiss when the tent flap was pushed open.

“Oh.. uh I’m so—”

“It’s okay Phaedra, we’re not going to bite your head off.”

Isran smiled at the healer for extra reassurance. She didn’t like how much Phaedra walked on eggshells around them and hoped the healer would be less standoffish as time passed. They were going to be stuck together till they could get back to Kestin.

They started another fire and heated up some food. Isran was glad they were attacked while they were walking and not when they had made camp, it would’ve been hard to grab their stuff. But since they were moving their bags were on their backs.

“Are any of you hurt? My mana points are full, I could heal you.”

Isran shook her head. “I barely lost any points.”

Elysi waved her hand. “I also don’t need it, we might need it later and so could you.”

Phaedra nodded and bit into her dried meats.”

After packing up and putting on their armor and gear they left their hiding place and moved deeper into the first floor of the dungeon.

“Fuck!” Isran hissed when a skeleton’s club hit her. She had shoved Phaedra out of the way of the attacking monster. “Get near Elysi!” She yelled over the sound of skeleton bones moving around and grinding against each other.

Three other skeletons ran out from the building they were about to enter, the first one had jumped down from the roof. Its legs had separated from the rest of the body but they were already connected again.

The skeleton monsters mostly looked like human skeletons, sometimes they would have a different animal’s skeletons but the majority were almost always human skeletons.

Isran shoved the skeleton back and swung at the two that were rapidly approaching. The reach of her sword afforded her the luxury of not charging at their foes. Elysi couldn’t engage in the fight because the skeletons barely reacted to regular arrows. She would need enchanted arrows if she ever dreamed of facing the bony monsters.

“Stay close,” Isran said from under her helmet. Red strained forward, trying to get her closer to her foes that were slowly repairing themselves. She moved slowly, she didn’t want to leave herself or her companions open to any attacks by rushing.

When she reached the closest skeletal mess, she lifted her leg over its skull but froze, dark grey skin and a scar flashed through her vision before she lowered her leg and slammed her sword on the skull twice. The kill confirmation showed up when the skull split in half.

They walked for almost three hours before encountering something again. Though it was not monsters they encountered.

“Do you think they are bandits?” Phaedra whispered.

“No.” Elysi whispered back. They were hiding in one of the ruins, Isran behind one pillar and Elysi and Phaedra behind another.

“Should we approach?” Isran whispered as well.

Elysi frowned at the four adventurers walking. The ruins they were hiding in were on top of a hill. If Elysi wanted to shoot them she would have a clear shot, considering the adventurers were walking in the open.

“I think we should let the pass. It seems they’re leaving the dungeons.”

Since Red wasn’t moving Isran had no opposition to that plan, but it seemed the adventurers had plans of their own.

Isran wasn’t sure about their races, but one with skin dark enough she was certain he was and elf stopped and looked towards them. “If you aren’t bandits stop hiding and face us.”
