It Seems I’m Not The Only One Who Reincarnated

Chapter 49.1: Departure

September 14th.
Friday, 3 PM.

Shi Hai was on his way to the bus stop.

The three of them had agreed to meet after their afternoon classes and then take the bus together to the high school Shi Hai and Zhu Lingjie had attended, commonly known as “North High.”

The name “North High” was straightforward and simple—it was located in the northern part of the city, though its official name was First High School.

The university was in the southern part of the city, and Shi Hai’s house was conveniently located in the middle.

So, traveling from the university to North High took twice as long, and if you included the time for bus transfers, they would probably arrive after 5 PM—just about the time high school classes ended.

As Shi Hai approached the bus stop, he spotted Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie waving at him from a distance.

“Hey~ we’re over here!”

Jian Sichun shouted, cupping her left hand around her mouth, while her right hand waved high in the air.

Standing beside her, Zhu Lingjie simply smiled and waved gently with her hand at chest level.

Their contrasting gestures and expressions immediately highlighted their opposite personalities—one lively, the other reserved.

However, judging by the past few days, they seemed to be getting along quite well.

But perhaps they were only putting on a harmonious front in his presence; who knew what it was like when they were alone.

After all, the dynamics between girls were much more complicated than those between boys, filled with subtle manipulations and hidden rivalries.

Things that seemed peaceful on the surface might be quite different underneath.

But they were holding hands so intimately; it shouldn’t just be a superficial friendship, right?

Shi Hai raised his hand to greet them as he approached and said, “Let’s get going; the next bus should be here soon.”

“Okay,” Zhu Lingjie nodded obediently, while Jian Sichun brought up a complaint from earlier that morning.

“Why did you leave without us this morning? You didn’t even wait for us!”

“It’s not necessary to walk together every day; our schedules aren’t the same.”

Jian Sichun had a strong sense of insecurity whenever she was away from Shi Hai for too long, so she wasn’t about to listen to any reasoning.

If he distanced himself from her, something had to be wrong.

“Well, you should at least consider our feelings! We were all happy to go back and change clothes, but when we got to your place, you were already gone. It felt like being stood up for a date. It’s really disappointing, you know?”

“Alright, my bad…”

Apparently, waiting for women was part of a man’s duty, Shi Hai thought as he touched his nose.

Zhu Lingjie gently tugged Jian Sichun’s hand and persuaded, “Alright, Xiaochun, we didn’t exactly ask Shi Hai to wait for us…”

“No way! We even changed back into our summer outfits today! And he left without even seeing us!”

Although it was already fall, the weather was still hot, with the temperature feeling like it was over 30 degrees Celsius.

So Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie had changed back into their cool summer outfits.

“Your punishment is to admire us properly now!”

Jian Sichun lifted her chin and, having experience as a cosplayer, naturally struck a pose for Shi Hai to admire, pulling Zhu Lingjie into the pose as well.

Their display caught the attention of everyone waiting at the bus stop.

The thoughts of the men around them were in sync:

(Which department are these two beauties from? The quality is too high!)
(Who’s that guy? Could they both be with him?)
(So jealous! Having both at once must be amazing!)

Shi Hai ignored them, having anticipated the ‘stares’ from his fellow single men.

Meanwhile, both Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie focused entirely on Shi Hai.

To them, the men around them were no different from air.

Jian Sichun asked smugly, “So, what do you think? We look good today, right?”

Shi Hai replied honestly, “You both look great.”

Today, Jian Sichun wore a loose short-sleeve top paired with ultra-short shorts.

One side of the top was tied in a knot, revealing her slim waist and a hint of her navel—quite provocative.

Zhu Lingjie, on the other hand, wore a pure white sundress and a sun hat, giving off an innocent and sweet vibe.

Compared to the first time they met, Jian Sichun was showing more skin, while Zhu Lingjie’s outfit was more conservative.
