Chapter 43: Chapter 43: A bump and a meeting

Deciding that a direct approach was necessary, Xavier reached out telepathically to one of his most trusted allies, Kurt Wagner—better known as Nightcrawler.

Within moments, Nightcrawler appeared in the doorway of the Professor's office, his characteristic smile in place. "You called for me, Professor?"

Xavier nodded, gesturing for Nightcrawler to take a seat. "Yes, Kurt. I have a task for you, one that requires both your discretion and your particular set of skills."

Nightcrawler tilted his head curiously. "What is it, Professor?"

Xavier leaned forward slightly, his tone serious. "I need you to deliver a letter to Darius. He's a man of great power, and recent developments suggest that he has formed a close connection with Ororo. I must speak with him directly to understand his intentions."

Nightcrawler's smile faded slightly as he considered the gravity of the task. "I understand, Professor. But, if I may ask, why not just use Cerebro to communicate with him telepathically?"

Xavier shook his head. "I've tried. His mind is protected by something far beyond what I've encountered before. This barrier around Ororo's thoughts is likely connected to him as well. I believe a face-to-face meeting is the only way to make any progress."

Nightcrawler nodded, taking the sealed letter from the Professor. "I will deliver it personally."

"Thank you, Kurt," Xavier said, his expression softening. "Be careful. We don't know the full extent of Darius' abilities, and I have a feeling there's much more to him than meets the eye."

With a nod of understanding, Nightcrawler teleported away, reappearing just outside the mansion to begin his journey.

He was no stranger to difficult missions, but something about this one felt different. There was an air of mystery surrounding Darius, and even Nightcrawler, with all his experience, felt a twinge of apprehension.

As he teleported through the city, his thoughts raced. Darius was an enigma, someone who had captured the attention of both friends and foes alike. The stories of his feats were spreading like wildfire, and now, Kurt was tasked with delivering a message to the man at the center of it all.

Finally, Nightcrawler arrived at the location that he had identified as Darius' home. It was an impressive structure, grand in design, yet there was an underlying sense of power that emanated from it, something almost tangible.

With a deep breath, Nightcrawler prepared to teleport directly inside the house. But as soon as he attempted to make the jump, he felt an overwhelming force push back against him.

The sensation was like hitting an invisible wall, and before he knew it, he was hurled backward through the air.

The impact with the ground was cushioned by the soft earth, but the force of the landing still knocked the wind out of him. The result was a loud *boing* that echoed across the property.

Back inside the mansion, Darius was enjoying a moment of peace. Zuri was nestled comfortably beside him, her golden eyes lazily observing the room.

The evening had been quiet, almost too quiet, and Darius was on the verge of getting lost in his thoughts when the loud, unexpected sound outside shattered the tranquility.

His curiosity piqued, Darius stood up, his gaze shifting toward the door. "Did you hear that, Zuri?" he asked with a smirk, already knowing the answer. Zuri, always alert, had already perked up, her ears twitching as she looked toward the source of the disturbance.

Before Darius could take a step, Harmony appeared beside him, almost as if she had been waiting for something interesting to happen. Her wide, excited eyes met his, and she grinned from ear to ear.

"I heard it too!" she exclaimed, practically bouncing on her toes. "Let's go see what it is!"

Darius couldn't help but chuckle. Harmony's enthusiasm was infectious, and there was no stopping her once she had decided to investigate. "Alright, but let's try to keep the chaos to a minimum, okay?"

Harmony's mischievous grin was anything but reassuring. "No promises!"

Together, they made their way outside, the cool night air greeting them as they stepped onto the lawn.

The faint chirping of crickets filled the silence, but it was the sight of the figure sprawled out on the ground that drew their attention.

Darius recognized Nightcrawler immediately and couldn't help but smirk as he approached. "Well, well, look who decided to drop in unannounced."

Nightcrawler, still recovering from the unexpected impact, blinked a few times before his vision cleared. He looked up to see Darius and Harmony standing over him, both with amused expressions.

"I... I tried to teleport here," Nightcrawler explained, still a bit groggy. "But there was a barrier... I couldn't get through."

Harmony giggled, leaning in closer to inspect him. "Looks like someone forgot to knock first."

Darius shook his head in amusement, offering a hand to help Nightcrawler up. "Yeah, this place has some unique protections. Next time, try the door."

Nightcrawler accepted the hand and got to his feet, dusting himself off. "I'll keep that in mind. The Professor sent me to deliver a letter to you, Darius."

Darius raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A letter? From Charles? This should be interesting."

Harmony's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Ooh, a letter! What does it say? Can we read it?"

Darius chuckled as he took the envelope from Nightcrawler and opened it. "Let's see."

The letter was brief, as expected. Professor Xavier requested a meeting with Darius, expressing a desire to understand more about him, particularly in light of the changes he had observed in Ororo.

The letter's tone was respectful but firm, indicating that Xavier was not someone to be brushed off easily.

Darius couldn't help but smile as he folded the letter and tucked it away. "Looks like Charles wants a chat."

Harmony pouted playfully. "Are we going? I want to meet the mind-reader!"

Darius considered it for a moment before shrugging. "Why not? It could be fun."

Nightcrawler, now fully recovered, nodded. "I'll let the Professor know you'll meet with him. But, uh, next time, maybe tone down the barrier a bit?"

Darius laughed, giving Nightcrawler a friendly pat on the back. "No promises, but I'll think about it."

With that, Nightcrawler teleported away—this time without any resistance. Harmony turned to Darius with a wide grin.

"Looks like we're going on another adventure!" she said, her excitement palpable.

Darius smiled, feeling the familiar thrill of the unknown ahead. "Indeed we are, Harmony. Indeed we are."

Darius and Harmony prepared to visit the Xavier Mansion, a place they hadn't been to before but knew all too well through whispers and stories.

As always, Harmony wanted to make a grand entrance. She decided to wear an outfit so stunning and ethereal that it made her look like a goddess descending from the heavens.

Her dress was an intricate blend of shimmering gold and deep azure, flowing like water around her, with accents that caught the light and made her seem to glow.

Darius watched her with a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Really, Harmony? A goddess outfit? We're just going to visit some mutants, not attend a cosmic ball."

Harmony grinned, twirling in her dress. "If I'm going to visit mortals, I might as well remind them of the divine presence among them."

Shaking his head, Darius sighed. He knew better than to argue with her on matters of style. Instead, he focused on his own attire, deciding to make a statement of his own.

He wore a simple black shirt, but with a twist. The front of the shirt had bold, white lettering that read, "Do not try to read my mind, you will regret it."

They arrived at the grand entrance of the mansion. The massive wooden doors loomed before them, rich with history and the weight of countless battles fought by the X-Men within its walls.

The mansion was quiet, almost too quiet, as if it were holding its breath in anticipation of the meeting about to take place.

Darius glanced at Harmony, who was clearly enjoying herself. "Ready to meet the X-Men?"

Harmony flashed him a mischievous smile. "Always."

With that, Darius knocked on the door. The sound echoed through the mansion, signaling their arrival. The door creaked open slowly, revealing the familiar faces of the X-Men inside, gathered to greet their powerful visitors.

The air was thick with curiosity and tension as the two siblings stepped inside.

The introductions began, with each side sizing up the other. Darius noticed the way the X-Men looked at him and Harmony, a mix of awe, caution, and intrigue.

Harmony, ever the social butterfly, took charge of the conversation, her charm and beauty disarming even the most stoic of the group.

As the introductions concluded, a heavy silence hung in the air. The X-Men couldn't shake the feeling that they were in the presence of something far beyond their understanding. Darius and Harmony stood at the center of attention, their powerful auras filling the room.

The moment lingered, the air thick with unspoken thoughts, as everyone wondered what would come next.
