Chapter 124

Chapter 124. Three Companion And The First Pest

“Alright, Akira, go take care of it.”

Hagg’s unreasonable demand made me blurt out in surprise.

“Wait, wait a second! Are you seriously telling me to go kill a pest?!”

“Indeed. That’s what I said. Didn’t you get it?”

“More like, I didn’t want to get it! Aren’t goblins supposed to be dangerous pests?! And you want me to…”

As I tried to argue, Faf cut in.

“Heh… You can chat all you like, but if you keep this up, those old folks are gonna die.”

“What?”

I hastily glared down the road. Sure enough, there was a small group carrying elderly people.

“You might not see it, but goblins are closing in on that group. If you leave them, they’ll catch up in no time.”

“What?!”

I turned back to Hagg and Yaralai, but both just yawned exaggeratedly. Faf just grinned maliciously.

“Damn it!”

I knew in my head that these two would never let them die. Yet, I found myself running anyway.

Alright, fine! I’ll do it, you jerks!

I wrapped myself in energy and sprinted. I reached the small group faster than I expected.

It was about 15 people, some bleeding.

“Hey! Are you alright?!”

“What?!”

The man who turned around had the worst injuries. He held a dagger dripping with some green liquid.

Other men had broken sticks or were carrying the elderly. Some women, likely housewives, were hyperventilating on the ground.

“Who are you?! N-no, it doesn’t matter. If you can fight, please help! I’ll do anything in return! They’re almost here!”

His words made me glare down the road. I didn’t even need to squint. I could clearly see five of them. Maybe it was thanks to my energy.

The pests called goblins were humanoid creatures with brighter green skin than I expected. Their faces were squashed like tarsiers, and they were small, about the size of a sixth grader or a first-year junior high student.

They were slim, but wielding fairly large clubs as they charged, so they seemed much stronger than they looked. They wore ragged clothes. Homemade, maybe?

One goblin at the front, its face twisted in rage, was spraying dark green liquid from its body.

“Hey, that one.”

“Sorry, I couldn’t finish it… A wounded goblin is… dangerous.”

The bearded man clenched his teeth in frustration.

Oh, great…

In less than ten seconds, I’d be up against this dangerous one… I glanced back, but the three demons hadn’t budged. Damn them.

I took a deep breath. Spiraling energy. I still couldn’t fully believe I had such power, but I’d trust Yaralai and Hagg and use it.

The fear of fighting was already gone. Somehow, just seeing the goblins filled me with a strong hatred, urging me to kill them. It seemed I had taken an instant dislike to them.

When I took a stance in my so-called Tornado Martial Arts, the bearded man, despite his ragged breathing, lined up beside me with his dagger.

“Alright, stay back.”

“But…”

“You’re in the way.”

Before we could even finish talking, the green goblin had already closed in, swinging a massive, crude club.

Too slow.

Honestly, I saw this coming. Ever since the goblin entered my field of vision, I had been watching it closely, even predicting its muscle movements. Yaralai’s brief but intense training had taught me this.

I focused on using the energy Hagg had shown me. Twisting my left arm as I brought it up, I diverted the club’s trajectory. Normally, it would have smashed a human head like a watermelon, but I deflected it with just one arm.

Oh, my shirt ripped…

Come to think of it, I was dressed in slacks and a dress shirt. If I had worn a bow tie, I’d have looked like a fighting butler.

While I was distracted, the goblin regained its posture and swung the club horizontally this time. It was like a baseball bat swing.

I dodged just in time, staying close enough to the green creature. The goblin tried to stop the club’s momentum, but I nudged it in the same direction, causing the goblin to lose balance and turn its back to me.

Just as planned.

Now, it was my turn to spin backward at high speed. The goblin probably had no idea what had hit it as it crashed headfirst into the ground.

Yes, it was a high-speed back kick.

It was the most powerful move Yaralai had taught me in the spiral technique. More of a rotation than a spiral, but it fit perfectly and I learned it surprisingly easily.

However, since it left your back exposed, Yaralai had warned me never to use it unless I could read my opponent’s movements.

Just one strike.

Unexpected but now understandable.

After all, I had been training under Yaralai’s high-speed drills. A slow-motion attack like this was nothing.

In just a night or two, you can become this strong… Or maybe it was Hagg’s training too…

I couldn’t help but laugh as I remembered the pointless log exercises.

When I looked over, the bearded man was staring at me in shock. He seemed too stunned to speak.

I felt the same way, so I ignored him and lit a cigarette.

As I exhaled the smoke and looked up at the sky,

Yeah. It’s blue today too.

In the distance, a vulture was flying.
