Kigal-Note/Traits: Arachnid-type Traits (Post-Nightmare Festival)

General Description:

The "Arachnid"-type traits are divided into 2 categories, "Arachnid" (as in spiders), and the more specialized "Scorpion"-line for the various scorpion-type monsters out there. Ticks and mites are governed by bug-type traits, as they do not have any special characteristics that would grant them special traits such as spiders and scorpions.

Trait: Arachnid

Abilities:

  • Damage inflicted onto self by Heat-type and Cold-type attribute skills: *3.0
  • Increased resistance and enhancement towards Poison-ailment-related abilities: [Normal]
  • Increased web-handling abilities: [Normal]
  • Increased effect of Fear-inflicting abilities: [Normal]

Description:

As mentioned, the [Arachnid]-trait is a trait that is spider-exclusive despite its name. It grants the arachnids improves Poison-ailment abilities, as well as enhanced web-handling skills. And as a reference, or perhaps the source, of the phobia "arachnophobia", all creatures with this trait have higher Fear-ailment infecting abilities, even when not supported by other skills.

On the other hand, Arachnids also have a high damage multiplicator when it comes to Heat-type and Cold-type attacks. This extends even to their webs, which makes both attribute categories quite useful when facing a spider foe.

In exchange, the [Arachnid] trait can be developed into new traits as it grows. This is unfortunately not obtainable through natural evolution, so either mutation or clearing special Extra Trials is needed for this to happen.

Trait: Scorpion

Abilities:

  • Damage inflicted onto self by Cold-type attribute skills : *2.0
  • Decreases natural SP consumption: [Small]
  • Increased resistance and enhancement towards Poison-Ailment-related abilities: [Normal]
  • Positive correction to exoskeleton-type and pincer-type skills: [Normal]
  • Positive correction to stealth while in sand-type areas: [Normal]

Description:

The [Scorpion] trait is given to all scorpion-type monsters. Like the [Arachnid] trait, it has an attribute-based damage multiplier, this time in the form of taking double the damage from Cold-type attribute skills. The reason why they do not take extra Heat-type damage may come from the fact that scorpions often are found in the desert, scorching hot climates, even if they work around this by staying under the sand most of the day, only being active during the night.

Other than that, the traits grant a positive correction to Poison-ailment-related skills, as well as enhanced exoskeleton compared to other arachnids. Their pincers are also improved, and yet another ability they have presumably due to the scorpion race's relationship to the desert is an advanced stealth property when in sand-type areas. They also have strong fasting abilities, being able to survive on less food than normal creatures, even if just a little.

Like [Arachnid] again, the [Scorpion] trait can be developed to reach new stages, but it has fewer options to choose from, probably because it does not suffer from the same amount of initial weaknesses compared to the spiders' trait.

Noire's comment: Hmm, with Garami taking after spiders so much, maybe if I make her face Blaze...

Blaze's comment: Iik! Noire, did you plan something suicidal for me!? I felt like the Grim Reaper was breathing down my neck just now! Stop that!
