Kingdom: The Black Moon Assassin

Chapter 24: A Battle of Endurance

Jun needed to face his opponents intelligently, so instead of charging in like a headless chicken, he began to run in a specific direction where he planned to kill half of the participants.

Those who managed to recover quickly followed Jun, who was probably already thinking about his next strategy.

Realistically, the others would be more cautious in following him; those now trailing behind were the impulsive ones who believed they had the upper hand due to their numbers.

But they would soon discover that things were not as they expected…

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Jun stopped, but as he did, he threw several daggers, many of which were blocked by the assassins, but a few pierced the flesh of thighs and other areas that would affect their battle performance.

"Knives?" A twenty-year-old man pulled the knife out of his abdomen while looking at Jun incredulously.

"I wouldn't have done that." Jun unsheathed his sword again and prepared for the attack.

In front of him were seven targets, none of whom were on his level.

"Let's attack; there are seven of us!" shouted the first brave man who rushed into battle.

Soon, the others followed.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound of steel clashing against steel soon filled the dark forest. There was no escape, and today only one would become the new Black Moon that would explore the world.

A boy from Tryce village, Lee, felt his heart sink at the spectacle unfolding before his eyes.

His companions, those with whom he had made a pact, fell dead after being beheaded.

An unrealistic sight, knowing they were all from the Haiyue Clan.

Their swords were shattered, the pride in their hands crushed, their skins were cut, and blood soon flooded the ground that was once dry.

It would be rational to think the sword blade would break, but he couldn't understand why Jun's sword showed no signs of change.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The heads of his allies fell to the ground. The expression on his face, when his village brother's head rolled in his direction, was one of shock, as if he couldn't believe his brother had died.

With a crunch, Lee lifted his head.

At the end of his gaze was a mysterious man who had turned his brother into a decapitated corpse.

Supposedly, those from the Asura clan were only fifteen years old, and Jun was no exception...

Jun's black robe fluttered with his movements, those blood-red eyes on his clothing seemed to come to life when they were bathed in blood.

His hair whipped in the wind as he continued killing. With his face covered, Jun didn't need to fake an expression; he simply did what he had to do, not making it easy for those who wanted to take his life.

"We're all going to die…" Lee murmured, seeing Jun getting closer and closer to his position.

At first glance, those eyes seemed lethargic. However, if you looked closer, you could see a boiling ferocity swirling in them.

Lee could immediately understand the identity of that boy who killed without hesitation; he was just an orphan.

"A life-stalking monster..."

Then, another thought crossed his mind as if it were a natural fact: "I'm going to die here."

He and his brother, who had sworn to kill the others and then have a final duel, would die without even knowing who would reach the final.

That thought didn't come to his mind by chance; it was something that instinctively came to him.

His body trembled, he felt suffocated, and his vision blurred.

"I must retreat…" Lee naturally took a step back.

He gritted his teeth and tried to control himself, but even that was not easy.

Avenging his brother, the long-cherished desire of his kin, and other secondary thoughts faded from his mind.

His mind focused on one emotion, an emotion he had long forgotten and struggled to remember.

Fear…

The moment he met Asura Jun, the moment he saw those fierce eyes, fear overwhelmed his entire being.

Although he tried to remain calm and assess his strength, the conclusion did not change.

His body was more powerful than ever.

He was brimming with strength, so much that he doubted it was truly his.

This phenomenon occurs according to the rules etched in this space.

However, this did not guarantee victory.

Even if his physical strength had become greater, he could not launch any attack. There was no technique that could stop Jun's sword, which would pierce his heart.

Lee knew this. The reason everyone had agreed to form a temporary alliance was because they knew that in every ceremony, there was always one from the Asura village who was a monster, and this time was no exception.

Everyone needed to attack simultaneously if they wanted to win.

Then a thought crossed his mind.

Run…

However, that was also impossible.

Obviously, he would be faster. His body was brimming with energy, and he was far from that monster, but he was convinced a sword would come flying from behind, even if he decided to flee far away.

Jun's calm demeanor reaffirmed that belief.

In the end, the conclusion reached through reason only served to turn the fear weighing on Lee's heart into absolute despair.

Once again, his feet returned to his control.

Lee's eyes turned to his allies who were still alive.

"We can't beat him…"

Lee could see through them that everyone else present had reached the same conclusion.

This was not a battle they could win.

The next moment, Jun's voice echoed as he cleaned his sword.

"Aren't you coming?"

It was like the howl of a beast.

When Lee heard the voice of the Apostles, it was the first thought that came to mind.

Lee shuddered at the voice and noticed that Jun was looking at him with a subtle smile. Seeing this, he felt anger bubbling up from deep within his heart.

Only two of the six who were originally fighting remained; four bodies lay lifeless on the ground.

"I am Lee from Tryce village…" Lee gathered strength, and as he shouted, the others also stepped forward.

The smile deepened on Jun's lips as he saw this. Lee, who felt desperate once again upon seeing this, shook off the emotion and extended his sword to aim for Jun's head, who shifted his stance.

It was a frantic attempt.

It was a pathetic move.

And ultimately, it was a move that could not reach him.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Jun raised his sword. A sword that was only lifted when Lee's blade extended towards his neck.

In a fierce counterattack, Jun's sword cut off Lee's hands.

It was a sound he did not hear through his ears but resonated directly inside his head.

The field of vision widened. The sound accompanying it also echoed endlessly.

Lee's eyes widened, and he gaped as if they were about to break while watching his wrists being cut off in front of him.

A moment that felt like an eternity. In the end, when Lee returned to reality, his body was writhing in pain.

"Aaaaaaarghhhhhhhh!!!"

Jun swung his sword at terrifying speed, and in a quick turn, cut off another head, eliminating the sixth enemy who was about to attack.

"Six…" Jun's breathing returned to normal, and he soon felt the weight of his exhaustion taking over his muscles.

Lee was the last one alive, so Jun, who did not wish to torture his opponents, walked towards him to finish this.

"I was only fulfilling my brother's wishes…"

Jun looked at the boy who had the same symbols as Lee, then glanced at him and said, "And now he's dead. We don't always get what we want."

"Everyone will come for you…"

"That's what I was hoping for. Fortunately, I've cut their number in half, so now it will be a fairer fight, don't you think? Now that I think about it, I feel like a true protagonist in a story written by some guy…"

"You're crazy…"

Clang!

Jun swung his sword and pierced Lee's heart; he felt with his hands as the life left this person's body, then took a deep breath. "I'll have to do better; killing like this will leave me traumatized."

The surroundings were a mess, but Jun did not despair and walked slowly in another direction, waiting to be found later.
