Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Konoha Taijutsu Master...'S Disciple!
Speaking of Konoha's Taijutsu master, there is one name that stands out among all others - the man who nearly defeated Madara, the one and only Guy Sensei. With the Eight Inner Gates fully open, Guy Sensei's incredible skills were almost enough to take down the powerful Madara Uchiha. Sasuke believes that if he had someone like Guy Sensei to train with, his own physical abilities would improve rapidly. However, Sasuke knows it won't be easy to convince Guy Sensei to accompany him since they have no formal mentor-disciple relationship, and Guy Sensei is a renowned Jonin. Instead, Sasuke plans to seek out Guy Sensei's disciple, Rock Lee. Being a young brat, Lee would most likely eagerly accept Sasuke's challenge and engage in a physical training session. Although Sasuke understands that training with Lee may not be as effective as training with a master like Guy Sensei, it would still be beneficial considering Sasuke's current skill level.
After completing their mission for the day, Kakashi left Sasuke and his teammates with some free time in the afternoon. Naruto and Sakura were relieved to have a break from the monotonous D-level missions, which they found mentally torturous. As Sasuke prepared to leave, Naruto stopped him, questioning why he was in such a hurry to go. Naruto suggested they all return together since they would be companions in the future. Sasuke agreed, realizing that he should spend more time with his teammates, although recent busyness had limited his interactions with Naruto and Sakura. However, Kakashi and Hiruzen interpreted Sasuke's aloofness as a sign of arrogance and superiority, further solidifying their belief in his character flaws. Sakura, though excited on the surface, felt a bit disappointed as she had hoped to have a few more words with Sasuke.
While walking back to Konoha Village together, Naruto asked Sasuke about Kakashi's unusual behavior that day, speculating whether he was involved in something significant. Sasuke dismissed this notion, explaining that they had likely exhausted all the D-level missions available in the village. Since Konoha was not a large place, it was understandable that these missions would be completed quickly by freshly graduated Genin. Naruto was surprised by this revelation, realizing that their team had indeed cleared all the D-level missions in the village. Sasuke confirmed that they would no longer be required to perform such tasks as the next batch of Genin would need them for training the following year. Naruto joyfully expressed his relief at finally being done with the mundane missions.
As they approached the center of the village, Sasuke suggested they stop there for the day and parted ways with his teammates without waiting for their response. Sakura felt a bit dejected as she had hoped for more interaction with Sasuke, while Naruto expressed his frustration at Sasuke's lack of patience when it came to conversations. Naruto wanted to express his gratitude to Sasuke for their bell fight but realized he had missed the opportunity this time. Determined to thank Sasuke in the future, Naruto continued walking with Sakura, unaware of Sasuke's thoughts.
Sasuke's mind was occupied with finding Rock Lee. He believed that Lee and his team should currently be in Konoha since they wouldn't be out on missions. Sasuke expected to locate Lee easily, especially considering Lee's dedication to training. His goal for the day was to run ten laps around the village, and Sasuke thought that by this time, Lee should be in the vicinity. Spotting an open area near Konoha Park, Sasuke quickly found Lee, who was about to begin his run. Neji and Tenten were also present, engaged in their respective training sessions. Sasuke disregarded their presence, focusing solely on
Lee.
To get Lee's attention, Sasuke threw a kunai that landed near Lee's feet. He then gracefully landed on a stone pillar nearby, hands casually tucked in his pockets, and looked down at Lee. Lee was perplexed by the sudden interruption and demanded to know who Sasuke was and how he knew his name. Neji, sensing the tension, furrowed his brow. He recognized Sasuke's attire as that of an Uchiha clan member and deduced that this was the last surviving Uchiha Genin who had just graduated. Neji wondered why Sasuke would confront Lee with a kunai, seemingly targeting him.
In response, Sasuke introduced himself as Uchiha Sasuke and mentioned that he had heard about Lee's exceptional physical skills among the Genin who graduated a year ahead of him. Sasuke admitted that physical abilities were his weakness and expressed his intention to discuss and train with Lee to improve his own skills.
