Looking over the list, Tetsuya felt a surge of satisfaction. He'd officially balanced his mastery of S and A-rank jutsu with his B and C-rank techniques. And once Sarutobi Hiruzen handed over those promised A-rank jutsu from winning the Chunin Exams, he'd have an arsenal that outmatched most Jonin.

Still, jutsu alone didn't make someone invincible in the shinobi world. His reliance on just two chakra natures—Lightning and Water—could be a glaring weakness if exploited by the right opponent. He needed to diversify. Maybe Medical Ninjutsu? Or Genjutsu? Both would round out his skill set.

"Medical Ninjutsu or Genjutsu... which one should I tackle first?"

He mulled over the choice, his thoughts swirling under the pale light of the stars outside his window, until his eyelids grew heavy and he drifted off to sleep.

---

Morning sunlight streamed into the room. Tetsuya was jolted awake by a familiar voice.

"Tetsuya-sama, you're awake!"

The overly formal greeting made him choke on the medicine he'd just taken. Coughing, he waved a hand in protest.

"Chisato, for the love of all things, just call me Tetsuya. The 'sama' thing feels... way too much, especially first thing in the morning."

Chisato, the young medical-nin assigned to him, blushed and nodded quickly, her hero-worship evident in her wide eyes. She'd been tasked with overseeing his recovery—something he was convinced was either Hiruzen's idea of a joke or a misguided reward for his Chunin Exam victory.

---

After finally getting through Chisato's routine check-ups and making sure she didn't bow herself into the floor, Tetsuya finally had some peace. He stared at his bandaged right hand, flexing his fingers gently as he tried to clear his head.

Time to check in on someone else.

He made his way to Room 306.

The door creaked open, and there she was—Uchiha Mikoto, propped up in bed, holding a bouquet of lilies. The fresh morning breeze fluttered in through the window, making her hair dance lightly, and her bare feet dangled off the side of the bed, toes curling and uncurling lazily in the air.

"Mikoto, I'm here."

She turned her head to look at him, her eyes soft but alert. There was a warmth in the room, not from the sun, but from the quiet, unspoken bond they'd formed through battle and hardship.

---

As the excitement of the Chunin Exams waned, the foreign dignitaries, nobles, merchants, and visitors who had flooded Konoha slowly trickled out of the village. Many left with stories to tell of the battles they witnessed, but what lingered most in their minds was Konoha itself—its sheer power, prestige, and poise on display.

Four days after the exams ended, the official list of promoted Chunin was released, bearing the signature of Sarutobi Hiruzen. Fifteen genin had earned their promotions this year:

Fujiwara Tetsuya

Ay

Rasa

Uchiha Mikoto

Hyuga Momaru

Uchiha Tono

Senju Hiroki

Minazuki Chione

Fugo

Senju Seito

Nara Shoshin

Kitsuchi

Kamunashi

Kaguya Saki

Hozuki Mucan

Of those who had made it to the final sixteen, only one—Koharu Tatsu of the Koharu clan—had failed to secure a promotion. Hiruzen's shrewdness was on full display here; by ensuring that the strongest contenders all advanced, he solidified the village's unity, something that wouldn't be easily shaken in the coming years.

Tetsuya's injuries, meanwhile, had been all but healed thanks to the tireless efforts of Konoha's top medical-nin. Despite being fully recovered after just a few days, he delayed his discharge from the hospital until Uchiha Mikoto was well enough to leave as well. It wasn't a question of his health—it was a matter of solidarity.

Finally, a week later, both Tetsuya and Mikoto were cleared to leave.

---

"Hey, Tetsuya! Over here!"

Standing at the hospital gates, waving his arms like a madman, was Yuhi Shin, one of Tetsuya's teammates, with Aburame Muto, ever the calm one, beside him.

"Tetsuya! Mikoto! It's about time you two got out of there! Team Thirteen is finally back together!"

"And Tetsuya... you did it! First place!"

Shin's hand landed squarely on Tetsuya's shoulder, closely followed by Muto's, both congratulating him. The weight of their collective slaps sent a jolt of pain through his still-tender muscles.

"Ahh! Careful, guys! Still recovering here..."

Mikoto stifled a laugh, her lips curling into a small but unmistakable smile—a sight that hadn't graced their team in months.

"Mikoto... you smiled!" Shin's eyes lit up in surprise. "You actually smiled!"

Muto, typically composed, shared in the moment, his expression softening.

It was as if the Mikoto they knew—their quiet but resolute teammate—had finally come back to them, healed not just physically but in spirit.

"Thank you... both of you," Mikoto said, her voice sweet as summer rain. "You've been worried for so long. I'm sorry for making you wait."

Her words were like a gentle breeze, washing over Shin and Muto, calming their worries and lifting their spirits.

"You guys!" Muto rolled his eyes but let out a chuckle, snapping out of his unusually sentimental mood. He knew his team all too well—things would return to normal soon enough, with their usual banter and camaraderie.

"Well, what now?" Shin asked, leaning in conspiratorially. "Ready to hit the training grounds? I bet you two have been itching for action after being cooped up for so long."

"Just... give me a few days of normal life first," Tetsuya groaned. "I've had enough of hospital beds and ninjutsu to last me a while."

---

The road ahead wasn't going to be easy. Tetsuya knew that. But with Mikoto smiling again, and with his team back at his side, the future felt a little less daunting.
