Legacy of Harry Potter

Chapter 157: Voldemort in the Arena

November 1994

Hogwarts' Grounds

Minerva turned around to witness the hasty alterations which were being made madam Bones and professor Flitwick to the arena.

At one end of the arena, which was previously completely barren, one dozen pillars made out of rocks stood. These pillars were almost 8 feet in height and 5 feet in diameter, enough wide to comfortably support one person.

Of the dozen pillar, one was at the forefront as if leading the way while the rest followed behind in a kite like formation.

After completing their work, Flitwick and Bones looked in Minerva's direction and gave a subtle nod. Minerva also nodded in response.

Flitwick in the next moment flew away from the arena in greenish blur. Minerva also returned to madam Bones' side and waited in anticipation of the upcoming events.

November 1994

Hogwarts' Grounds

Their wait was not too long as space inside the arena started to get ripped apart which was followed by arrival of more than 60 people.

Harry Potter was the first to arrive and he landed very close to the first pillar. Immediately following behind him were Voldemort and his hideous death eater.

The arrival of Voldemort and death eaters was witnessed by a stunned and silent crowd but it took not more than a second and chaos broke out.

People started to shriek, shout and scream as they tried to run away from their seats. No matter what Harry Potter told them, they could not hold their nerves.

Fortunately, Harry had been prepared for this.

Two massive fireballs of bombarda maxima exploded in the air, flanking the spectators. The chaotic crowd came to a halt and their attention was drawn towards the two witches holding the two flanks.

They were none other than Andromeda Tonks and Narcissa Black. Their faces were marred by an expression of smirk as they haughtily watched the coward crowd showcasing their crowd.

"This was what that prompted a pathetic wizard," boomed Harry's voice drawing the attention towards him.

"Like him," he said pointing towards Voldemort, "to think that he could rule upon the entire wizarding Britain."

Voldemort snarled with his ugly face but allowed Harry to continue his little speech.

"Dozens of death eaters," he raged with a mocking expression, "were able to terrorize the whole lot of you because of your cowardice."

"Right now," he continued. "I am not asking you all to show some bravery or do some extraordinary things."

"I am just asking you all to sit down and watch things quietly," he said. "I guarantee your safety."

Maybe it was Harry's mocking words or the reality of his statements staring into their faces, the crowd stayed rooted to a standstill as they slowly started to return to their seats.

It was at this moment Voldemort who had considerably calmed down chose to speak. It was not as if he had any qualms in appearing before the crowd but he did want to showcase his weakened, his pathetic side to the sheeps of the wizarding world. He understood that his physiological fear in the minds of the populace of the wizarding world was what allowed him to terrorize them. And his pathetic appearance might cause an impact to it.

But now that he was exposed, he would publicly win a battle and kill all the supporters of Boy-who-lived to cement his fear permanently in their mind. His return and his immortality would cower the entire populace into submission.

"Quite a brave speech you made Harry Potter," Voldemort snarled in his distorted voice.

"But your promise to protect them?" He questioned as he raised his wand while still being on the wooden chair.

"I think that might not be true for long," he smirked as he had wand pointed towards the crowd.

The audience in that direction were almost shivering in fear but somehow, they did not start to run.

Voldemort looked towards Harry to search any trace of panic but what he found was a smirk… it was a smirk of mockery directed at him.

Still in confusion, a black spell left Voldemort's wand as a smile appeared on his ugly face.

The spell travelled for some distance but just as it was to cross the grounds of the arena, a white transparent light flashed and the spell was absorbed by it.

"Wards?" Voldemort muttered in a shocked voice.

"Hogwarts's wards," corrected Harry Potter. "When you own the castle, you get some perks with it."

"Like I could extend the wards to the arena," he chuckled. "Now only things could enter the arena, and not leave it… unless you kill me."

Voldemort snarled at this. Without doubt he had the capability to break through these wards, but he needed a lot of time… which he did not with Harry Potter and his allies staring into his face.

"Voldemort," boomed Harry. "Whom you all consider a pure blood Slytherin descendant…"

Harry was about to continue but a powerful spell left Voldemort's wand as he could not allow the brat to speak the truth.

But Minerva was quicker. A spell also left her wand as Voldemort's spell was destroyed midway.

Meanwhile, Harry made a back jump as his voice continued to boom, "His original name… is Tom Marvolo Riddle… is a half blood."

Harry made a graceful jump on the pillar at the forefront as the elder wand in his wand flashed and the words "I AM LORD VOLDEMORT" started to arrange them as "TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE"
